Giant Bomb |OT32| I've been meaning to love a boat

This GBE playdate reminded me that Hitler reacts to (insert media thing here) was a meme. Where it used that movie and exact scene Janina was talking about.

Wow...

Edit: Oh wow, people are still making videos of current events lol.

What I don't get about platinum is why don't they ever revisit the god hand combat system aka the greatest combat system ever conceived.

I basically force myself to engage with these types of games because I don't want to be the person who does the stinger over and over and then whines about it when that stops working. "Force" probably isn't the exact right word because I'm having fun, but you get the idea. That definitely colors my impression of these games.

And you can do some ridiculous stuff in T:D. It's great. It might actually be the most complex Platinum combat system in terms of different elements interacting wih each other. But it's a shame the loot aspect of the game drags everything down.

yeah, T:D might actually on balance be their best system but it's so bogged down by loot grinding, it's a horrible shame.

I have to say one of the things that always makes my Bayo runs way more fun is that I always aim never to actually be touched in those games. I think a fair amount of it is tied to the fact in bayo-style games that finishing combos always gives you a nice big attack of some kind.

We could be strangers in the night
We could be passing in the shadows
We couldn't be closer if we tried
When we're caught in the headlights
We could be faces in the crowd
We could be passing in the shadows
Upping the risk of being found
When we're caught in the headlights

Dangerous
Your love is always dangerous
And now I'm lost in us
We're livin' in a lying trust

I don't know why, but I guess it's got something to do with you
To do with you
I don't know why, but I guess it's got something to do with you
To do with you

I was a faking alibi
Trading the truth in for a lie, oh
We were the essence of desire
And we're caught in the headlights

Dangerous
Your love is always dangerous
And now I'm lost in us
We're livin' in a lying trust

While I am enjoying it for what it is, I'm glad I did not pay full price for NBA 2KVR on PS4. It was on sale for like $4.99 a few weeks back instead of its usual $14.99 If I recall, it did not originally include PS Move support, which made it a far worse version compared to the other headsets. However, they've since patched that in. Over all, there's not much there (at least, in my mind, not enough to warrant the $14.99 price point). But what is there, is a lot of fun and quite satisfying.

Also, finally played a bit of Superhot VR. Wow. So much fun!

Edit- Oh, and I also played some of The Lost Bear in PSVR. That was quite unique. The part with the bees leaving the "stage" area and flying towards and around you really freaked me out! Perfect use of sound. Reminded me of one of those Disney park "4D" experiences.

Next few weeks or so is actually kinda insane for me.

Danganronpa V3
Superbeat Xonic
Battle Chasers
Chaos;Child

Oh, damn, Xonic is hitting Switch, isn't it? I can't justify double dipping given that I never got as far as I wanted to into the Vita version, but it's a really good game with a soundtrack I still listen to sometimes.

Already started with Heat Signature out of nowhere but I'm going V3 and Culdcept. Will probably buy Layton and C;C too, and get to Layton a while from now and C;C November-ish?

Oh, right.

I'll probably buy Picross S too.

But I need to finally finish Picross 3D; I've put off dealing with that final puzzle for months since it literally eats an hour each time I fail it.

I still need to watch the rest of that! I stopped right before they really started going for some reason.

Can't wait for Switch's library to expand.

Hopefully via Virtual Console. VC was always a selling point to me for Wii and Wii U, yet I never bought either. My last Nintendo console was GameCube. Now having a Switch, it would suck to see them abandon VC on the one console it would fit best on. Imagine having all those classic games at home and on the go!

You know what's not awesome?

CBS Interactive.

He's lucky that they don't give a shit about the site, otherwise he'd be in trouble.

Ha yes.
They do have a show called film & 40s that could be interpreted as encouraging drinking so idk what their limits are really.

Oh boy it sure goes places
wiener city!

So I'm listening to the polygon show from recs here and in the first episode they are already talking about how the Dna man from arms reproduces and nintendo fuck money.

It's a good show.

It is! It's the only other gaming podcast I listen to outside of GB stuff. That crew is a fun time and Pat is a good producer

I'm also catching up on the Polygon show at this exact moment (I listened to the first few and just got into other podcasts for a bit). The Nick Robinson stuff is awkward but I mean. A few episodes later and that'll end.

It's great otherwise and it's really cool to have a big site's podcast be all rad women.

I've been going backwards and I don't think I've heard a Nick Robinson reference yet. Just got to the episode that aired last week of July.

I mean, that stuff broke... early August, right? So that's when it would have stopped.

I'm going forward and on the episode from mid-July and there's been a couple. It's usually just in the context of games they covered or content they've been making, though.

1st episode.

I'm not saying that its not understandable. But yeah his spectre looms large on the site.

i understand the impulse to see characters in crazy elaborate dresses and formalwear but a 'bride' class has never sat entirely well with me

also, where's my advance wars dlc for fire emblem

They should have a groom class too honestly.

It's gradually filling out, there's more stuff on the eshop every time I check it seems. Granted the range in quality is probably all over the place.

Glad you're liking it! It's rad.

Edit; re: nick I 100% forgot about him already, they were pretty quick to distance themselves completely and with everyone icing him out on Twitter I haven't really looked back

Route A and B were alright, and were actually buoyed by the sidequests IMO. Not mechanically but in the quality of the writing, since most of them are fetch quests.

Route C onwards is what makes Nier: Automata matter.

Is it entertaining game design to put the best stuff in the final third of a game, and have the first two thirds be kind of a slog to get through? Probably not!

Route C would not matter without A or B.

Oh I'm not saying those two routes don't matter. They're very important within the confines of the game's story. Guess I should have been clear in saying if the game had ended with B, then Nier: Automata would be just a mediocre open world hack n' slash RPG with glimpses of cool writing.

Route C onwards is what gets people hyped about it and makes it worthy of discussion in relation to games as a medium.
