Google Pixel 2 - answers are coming Oct 4th

Did they lower the price of the original Pixel? I think I might just trade in my shitty Nexus 5x for that tbh.

Get one from Swappa. Someone was selling a Pixel XL the other day that he had just opened to take the photos for the website for only $450. Never used.

Why can't I have the hardware sensibilities of Samsung with the software sensibilities of Google....

That XL is looking mighty tempting though. I'm not a big phone guy but it may convert me. Need to wait for Verizon to get some models in store to play with.

Yes, and no.

I understand the complaints about the headphone jack. Hell, I used the headphone jack on my original Pixel daily. However, truth of the matter is this probably gonna be a industry trend moving forward, especially among flagship phones, so personally, I'm choosing to adjust to the new rather than hold onto to the past.

But bezels? Personally, I don't get it. I don't get it at all.

I know what you mean. It's mostly just a trend that's going on.

lmao that is fukin embarrassing. the xl is way too big for most people, its bordering on phablet, so this monstrosity is the option google offer to the average consumer smh

Pixel 2 XL is only about half an inch taller than regular Pixel 2. But it has one more inch of screen(diagonally), with much thinner bop and botto bezels.

Now I'm torn between 2 and XL.. and the storage differences. I'd like to go to a verizon store and feel out the Pixel 2 and XL in my hand.

I'm actually really conflicted now. I wouldn't have gone with the 2XL anyway because of the size, but the 2 is just...disappointing aesthetically. But at the same time, some sadistic part of my wants the 2 just because it's the latest thing out there. I mean, I'd be getting the same software experience, the same camera (which should be excellent by all accounts), the same specs...but those fucking bezels man. Also, I'm kind of really coming around to those earbuds - they actually look fucking awesome, and I'd totally just ask for them as a Christmas gift or something, so I wouldn't need to spend a penny on them.

The 2 is just about within my price bracket, with the 2XL, and even the LG V30 in the UK at least, exceeding it. As much as the LG V30 is probably the phone to get now for a lot of people, it's still too damn expensive. But in terms of price/performance, I'd be a fucking idiot to not get the OnePlus 5: it has literally the same CPU as the 2/2XL and LG V30, more RAM, a headphone jack, and a dual-lens camera which is 'good' at worst.

I don't know what to do. FUCK.

Looking at the 2... it is really so damn sleek. I think it's basically the perfect phone if not for the bezels. And honestly... they aren't really that bad. It actually has just about the same sized bezels as the iPhone 8.

Google basically did the same thing as Apple. Reuse last year's design for the smaller phone and then close to bezel-less on the larger device.

I'm conflicted but will probably just wait til Pixel 3 as my S7 2-year contract is not up until June 2018.

Yeah, you're not wrong, and the display itself is actually bigger than the iPhone 8 anyway (5in vs 4.7in). I have a Pixel 1 as a work phone and the screen is suitably large for my small hands. The only reason I feel a bit weird about it is because I've been using 5.2in QHD screens for the past three years, but I'd be lying if I said I could tell the difference between them and my Pixel 1.

a GS8 with worse popup play, no Samsung Pay, no Iris unlock, no edge features, etc...?
that sounds great actually

Havent gotten around to rooting mine yet

Can't you just use something like Nova launcher?, I have that on my S8 with it currently set to look like the Pixel 2 launcher - runs and feels just like stock android.
Nova is great, but doesnt solve things like the goddamn bixby button...

If I had to switch back to Android at any point, it would be to the Pixel 2 XL.

Sweet camera. Even looks decent in a kinda geeky way, the coloured side button, the contrasting dark/light back. I'm glad not every company goes for the now boring 'glass jewel' look.

As for people vomiting because the side bezels is 1 millimeter too big? Eh, it's fine. I'm glad not every company is going for ZERO BEZEL. Personally I like reduced bezels but the smaller they are, the tougher edge gestures with a case on are. Case in point, force touch from edge for multi-tasking on iOS.

Finally managed to place an order yesterday afternoon for the Panda XL 2. Estimated shipping is November 27th. :(

I could have ordered the all black XL 2, and have it arrive here in a couple weeks...but I feel like the panda combo with the orange power button is just so much better looking and more fun. Hopefully it is worth the wait

I got the 2 XL all black 128 gb. My Nexus 6 has been showing it's age recently. Can't wait till it gets here near the end of October!

Yeah, and rogue touches are more annoying to me than a few mm of bezel.

Man, this really looks to piss all over the iPhone 8 from every direction.

If they'd kept the damn headphone jack it would have been perfect.

I wanted the panda but like someone else said it won't make a difference since my phone will live in a case.

I've also always wanted a black phone but I've never had one, always ended up with a blue variant.

Had to pre-order the Black 2 XL from Google Store because I dragged my feet pre-ordering White & Black from Best Buy and they're sold out of that color now.

I was also on the fence between this and iPhone X. But looking at the specs alone, the 2 XL just looks better in every way for what I use my phone for, which is Web Surfing and Videos. 1440p screen resolution is gonna be so cool, since I'm used to my iPhone 7 at the moment. (Not even Plus, so bigger screen is gonna be awesome too)

This is my first Android phone too, so I will have to get acquainted with how to maneuver this OS. I'm hyped.

Got this preordered but still trying to decide between this or the iPhone X.

Camera and battery are the two I really care about.
Same here. I ordered the smaller Pixel 2. I’m hoping battery life is decent. I’m coming from a 6s Plus so I’m used to great battery life.

I couldn't resist. Ordered a black and white 128GB 2 XL and white Google Buds last night. Both are expected Nov 27. So excited!

Pre-ordered the 64gb black 2 XL. Still a little on the fence on it. My Nexus 6P still works pretty well, but I'm starting to have GPS issues and I'm getting the 15% battery shutdown issue.

Good point!

However, with me personally, I always use cases on my phone for the first few months....then I realize phones feel so much better without the case and stop using one.

Also, I ALWAYS get black phones, so I wanted to switch it up a bit.

My main beef is because of the wait. I want the phone much sooner, but will patiently wait for the panda. (Not very patent at all. Lol)

Same here lol

Shame the blue is only for the smaller phone, it looks extremely sharp imo

I also don't want to wait. I really liked the look of it but man... That's a long wait.
I wish I could use a phone with no case but I just can't. I hate the idea of it getting scratched or if I drop it getting dents or cracks.

I'm really torn between this and the LG V30. I'd consider a Note 8 but I dont know if I actually want a phone that big. Ive been off the android train for a while now but im eager to get back!

so what is the release date for this?

carphone warehouse here in the UK is saying November but Google says December.

I'm getting a 2XL in white for sure.

you mean the extra button that you can turn off?

You're not making the argument you think you are.
so you agree that PIP Youtube should be paywalled?

I dunno if I can live without Samsung Pay. It's that good.

i know right.

i got Samsung Pay, i don't even need to carry my wallet and some people are talking about carrying extra 3 inch adapters.

Just ordered a 2XL from the German Play Store. Delivery is estimated to 26 - 28 December and since I live in Sweden I likely won't see it this year. But hopefully it will come before that.

What the hell is the point of dropping the headphone jacks again?

I don't understand these recent decisions by phone makers.

I don't buy it being a "size" thing. Phones have been incredibly-thin for a while now. Almost too thin, I'd argue (I always need a case to make the phone a little bigger and easier to hold in my hand.

they dropped the jack and introduced their own wireless headphones with matching colors.

you know why they dropped it... trying to force overpriced accessories on you.

they don't even include Type-C earbuds in the box.

Or you could use the adapter in the box for you current headphones.

Most of the comments praising the phone on other sites is because of front facing speakers O. O. I dont get how thays new when Sony has had them for the longest time and they have a headphone jack lol

Is very easy to get. The phone could either have a bigger screen with the footprint, or a smaller footprint with the same size of the screen it has right now. Both things that could be done by having little to no bezels.
