Scott Mendelson liked it? Wow.
Hope Ragnarok lives up to the first Thor movie (which I find to be really underrated in discussions about everyone's top MCU movies) and even those few memorable moments in Thor 2 regarding Loki. I have total faith in Taika Waititi so I'm hoping it'll end up being the best of the franchise featuring our fave deity of alien origin and mythology-inspired.

Sounds promising, but those early reactions ultimately don't mean much yet. Is there anybody that didn't think the combo of Marvel and Taika wouldn't be fun? Based on that promise alone, this should easily be the funniest MCU flick. Hopefully when the reviews hit we'll have more than a few reasons to get excited. The synth driven soundtrack talk has made my ears perk up though. I can't wait to hear more.

Well theres a massive difference in sound between what Stanger Things did and the likes of Vangelis.

I don't know much, but I know in 10 years of being a casual MCU watcher the Thor trailer set to the Immigrant Song was probably the best one they've ever done.
It has my money due to that alone and I'm mixed generally on the movies. Strike rate of the current MCU for me has been about 60%

My hot take after parsing those blurbs for over inflated early impressions is that they feel the movie is shallow.
Hopefully the fault is with them and not the movie, that they're the type that thought Fury Road was shallow. Or they are all invested with the behind the scenes universe story and this does nothing to push that along. I don't like most Marvel movies but I find I really want to like this one, I suppose because it doesn't look like the result of a formula.

Right, he was doing it before the MCU happened. Brief period was supposed to refer to the time where he had signed on to do it for the MCU.

This is in line w/ everything we know, it's intended to be a light fun movie right before the super serious BP and Infinity War movies.
I'm not across him but I thought he is partly heralded for being able to weave sentimentality effectively between his quirky comedy.

Yeah he can, but I dont see this as having the sentimentality of Hunt for the Wilderpeople, rather the irreverent humour of What We Do in the Shadows. Its going to be rly rather low key film in the grand scheme of the MCU.
Not sure how you're getting that they thought it was shallow or how you know they're the "types" who thought Fury Road was shallow.

Hope that the reviewer describing it as a Taika Waititi film is correct, because I'm pretty much done with the MCU but I love everything Taika Waititi had made so far.

Transformers movie aren't fun, we laugh at them, not "with" them... The shittiest praise is "it's not so bad if you check your brain at the door"

Man, I loved Dr. Strange. Cool visuals, awesome backwards fight scene near the end, great resolution, Scott Adkins, what more could you want?

I thought Doctor Strange was great too. The visuals and crazy setpieces really set it apart from the other films, IMO. And Cumberbatch was awesome in the role. Looking forward to seeing him again in Ragnarok and Infinity War.

I'm pleasantly surprised at the praise for Thompson's Valkyrie, even Scott Mendelson liked her. Just judging by the trailers i was worried she'd be a weak link in the cast.

In for Taika. I'm convinced this will likely end up being my favorite CB movie due to him alone.
It's MCU, not an art house film. The thing they do best is being fun. What did you expect?
