Thor: Ragnarok Early Reactions

Lmao at "bought" critics

im tired of conspiracy theory bullshit in our current climate

please come up with a more sane explanation

I mean that poster isn't really wrong. The high profile critics who get wooed at screenings often do have good things to say. The BvS previews were mostly glowing iirc.

BUT to say Marvel bosses in suits walk up to these critics with checkbooks out is a bit loopy.

If only these lowly Marvel flicks could come close to reaching the cinematic heights of Zack Snyder's magnum opus.

Nobody truly understands what Zack was trying to do, though!

*trailer comes out*

"Whoa, this movie looks really fun!"

*reactions hit, calling the movie a lot of fun*

"Yeah this is def some bullshit, I bet it sucks"

You remember wrong. The glowing early reactions were from regular joes at fan preview screenings. Most of the 'top critic' reviews on RT are rotten.

If I recall correctly, the non professional reviewers/bloggers were the ones giving BvS positive reviews, while the professional reviews shredded it. The ones reviewing Ragnarok are the professional ones.

If that's true I stand corrected.

I just recall a bunch of fluff around BvS and then when it really landed, it landed hard.

Professional film critics don't post their impressions on fucking Twitter

I'm looking forward to it but I also enjoyed every MCU movie a little. Some are obviously much, MUCH better then others but I can't think of a single one I've hated.

Yep, sounds like a same old "fun" (read: empty) MCU movie. At least this one seems to look good. Will watch for brunette Blanchett.
This seems like a fun template.

"Yup, sounds like a same old "dark" (read: boring) DCCU movie. At least this one seems to look passable. Will watch for mustache-less Cavill."

"Yup, sounds like a same old "philosophical" (read: drawn-out) Blade Runner movie. At least this one seems to look pretty. Will watch for emotionless Gosling."

"Yup sounds like a same old "[insert positive film buzzword]" (read: [insert negative synonym or feeling]) [insert film property]. At least this one seems to look [insert meaningless platitude]. Will watch for [feature of actor/actress] [said actor/actress]."

Folks, it's ok to be skeptical of the Marvel template but don't doubt the director... Assuming he got a free hand, this is going to be awesome.

Oh man

How I wish you were right and that this mantra extended across the board for all professions

Times have changed man... the age of "information" is a fucking bitch

I fail to see how expressing an opinion over social media invalidates people as professionals. Are film critics all supposed to be Anton Ego, typing away in the dark with a grimace?

Oh im not saying it invalidates opinions

I just think the adjustment to social media is a rocky transition

This is amazing.

I'm so damn happy they decided to play up Hemsworth's comedic side. He's great.
Surprisingly I agree. The comedic side of Thor was the only highlight for me in the first movie, also kinda liked him in GB. But with this one, I'm mostly waiting to see Cate Blanchett chew the scenery. It will be glorious based on the trailers. She's excellent on anything she does and also aware what she is part of, she plays to the material.

Lets be honest

The paradigm hasnt changed

You either value the opinions of a particular critic or you dont

How you react to these impressions is on you and its not like there is some trend to positive impressions always being fluff

There is no pattern or generalization to be made so just stop.

Hahaha.

I stopped caring about super hero movies long time ago, but I love Waititi's work so much that I was rooting for him from the beginning. Because of that, I'm reading those reviews with such a huge grin.

I'm happy for him, it seems he did a great job... again :)
