I'm having some problems with the battery life in High Sierra (MacBook Air 2014). I don't understand if the problem is the battery (it has three years and I've used it a lot as it's my main development machine) or the OS itself.

Some tools for doing some in-depth analysis of the battery?

So I went through the pain of a complete and clean install, and of course, fucking High Sierra keeps freezing/crashing.

WTF Apple have you done? Really, I'm so frustrated and pissed. :(

Fusion drive or pure rust drive?

Fusion Drives will get updated at a later date, probably found a bug they couldn't fix for release. HDDs are unknown at this point, might hurt performance on them.

Ah, that makes sense. It's a Fusion Drive indeed. Thanks!

Updated my 2010 MacBook Pro, Seems to run smoothly so far.
My SSD that I installed myself also converted to APFS

I'm not sure if it's worth a thread and if it's even the right place to ask, but I think I found the reason for my freezes and issues with fucking High Sierra

  • MBP alone: no issues
  • MBP with an external 4K Display: freezes and crashes
  • MBP with an external 4k Display and closed MBP:
    • no scaling: no issues
    • resolution scaling: graphical glitches everywhere

I never had any issues with my setup using Sierra. So either my GPU decided to die the day I updated to High Sierra, or more likely, High Sierra is a bugged piece of shit.

Anyone else having a problem with iMessage on High Sierra? I sometimes don't get any messages on my Macbook and the first message I send takes like a full minute to send, sometimes a bit more even. After that first message, it works well until my mac goes to sleep or I restart.

Yeah. The whole iCloud experience seems broken. IMessages dont show up, my iPqd keeps ringing even if I'm already on the phone...
The fact that you can't actively force iMessage to fetch new data doesn't make it any better

Honestly, this unacceptable. Don't they have any test plans for their fucking operating system?

That was in open beta for months?

I know humans make errors. I'm doing stupid things in my code, too. That's why it's tested before it's released. Holy shit.

I’m having some serious issues as well, texts are not syncing on my Mac and ones I send on the Mac don’t always show up on my phone or are very delayed. This is definitely my biggest issue with HS right now, Messages was working perfectly on Sierra :(

Anyone else have issues with screenshots taking a while to appear on the desktop? I thought it was a fluke my 2012 Fusion Drive iMac but the same thing happens on my SSD equipped MacBook Pro too. Plus I've experienced a few random your computer restarted because of a problem on my iMac since updating to High Sierra.

Negative so far.

Also no issues when I took a screenshot earlier today.

Damn, didn't think it was this wide spread. Hopefully the next update fixes at least some of the problems plaguing iMessage. Guess I'll use iMessage on the phone until they fix things. Thanks for putting my mind at easy, I was ready to do a clean install of High Sierra if I was the only one suffering from this problem.

I'll roll back to Sierra today, after I finished my most urgent work. I can't stand this fuck of a software anymore. It's freezing, rebooting, crashing, it's glorious.

This happens to me sometimes on Sierra. I haven't found a set of conditions to reliably replicate it, but it happens from time to time.

Anyone that still uses the messages app (mostly for jabber now)... know how to remove the dumb "Maybe: Contact Name", all my contacts that are not in my address book have the Maybe label and its driving me bonkers.

You may need to update your Office apps through Microsoft Update to use them. I cannot use Outlook at the moment, but I hope the latest version fixes this.

Made the jump to Apple's desktop ecosystem and so far I'm enjoying it quite a bit. Loving how everything looks. The UI experience is miles above the mess that is Windows 10. Also, that font rendering is exactly to my tastes.

While I can't compare High Sierra to past versions since I haven't used them at all, besides doing the quick update to High Sierra, I'm having no issues with HS so far.

Using an iMac? What model, and how do you like it?

I'm waiting on an iMac to arrive at work, so far I've just been using my 2013 rMBP.

I'm using the 2017 21.5" iMac. Liking it quite a bit. I suspect that given enough time I'll find some things about High Sierra to annoy me to hell and back like I eventually experienced with Ubuntu/Arch but so far I'm enjoying the honeymoon.

Awesome. I'm excited to get mine. It's a slow process, I think it's already been like 2-2.5 months. Bureaucracy makes things slowwww.

This happened to me, and it turned out to be a Chrome extension (in my case Pocket Casts) that was occupying those keys. Worked after deactivating it.

Everyone on a late 2013 rmbp how's High Sierra treating you?

Do all of your apps work without upgrading?

Do legacy apps work without the need to upgrade?

What are terrible things about High Sierra?

I'm on a late 2013 13 rmbp and scared to upgrade honestly that's why I ask these questions.

I‘m at a point of frustration right now, that I honestly never expected to reach with a Mac.

- High Sierra crashes, freezes and whatnot on my 2014 MBPr
- a fresh install didn’t help
- it seems to be related to my external monitor, as I don’t have problems using it without it

Right now I can restore my time machine backup but a clean fucking install is impossible, because Apple removed the app from the App Wtore for whatever fucking reason.
I could go and restore Yosemite, but that wouldn’t help.

Why on earth am I not allowed to download Sierra anymore. I don’t get it. All the other older version are there.

Been a frustrating experience for me on High Sierra (Late 2011 MBP).

Overall the OS has been aite, but it's really fucking with my ability to use VMWare Fusion--I'm unable to connect to any network inside any virtual machine I run, and on top of that, none of my vm's are recognizing any usb devices...wtf >_>.
