Of course, that all falls apart because Shin is the most unreliable idiot in the known multiverse when it comes to judging power levels (Point: Everyone but him reacting to Ultra instinct as something incredible in the latest episode)

He knew it was incredible, he just had no clue what it was.

Old Kai didn’t know what it was either. He just pretended to know.

And Shin was completely right about Buu’s power compared to the Saiyans.

Shin can't react to shit he doesn't understand! No one taught him about UI lol.

Shin must've felt he was doing to well until he ran into the Saiyans...

Still it does sorta suck that anyone who could have taught him the important stuff was kinda dead. How different could it have been had the other Kaioushin lived?

Probably wouldn't have been the second worst universe, though there is still Beerus who is still shit at his job

Probably would be wildly different. U7 has pretty much been lacking competent leadership on the Supreme Kai level, going on millions of years now. Shin is a noob. Ain't his fault, but it is what it is.

I mean, technically UI is not a saiyan thing.

So I'd like it if they push the fact that Goku himself was special and not just that he won the genetic lottery.

The absolute opposite of the Black Arc basically.

You still have Beerus who will continue to be a lazy shit if he was awake Buu wouldn't have wiped out the Kais and he would continue to be shit and let Frieza run shit

So just slightly better probably wouldn't have save them from top

Bets are that Frieza's going to give Goku some of his energy here, right? Because poetry and Namek Arc parallels?

In an anime where everyone was less obsessed with their own honor as fighters, everyone would have given Goku their energy for the Spirit Bomb because they've observed Goku be nearly defeated by treachery or unexpected attacks while Jiren ain't fazed by anything. Pool their power to get the one overwhelmingly strong player off the field and then you at least have a chance with only Goku, Vegeta, Frieza, Gohan, and Hit.

1) Everybody participated minus Vegeta

2) It was already strong enough to beat Jiren, the fact he can throw it back has nothing to do with the power of the attack itself, he wasn't touched by it

People are still ignoring that Old Kai didn’t know what UI was and was trying to pretend that he did.

It didn’t. Tien specifically noted that the Spirit Bomb didn’t have the power to beat Jiren, so Goku absorbing it shouldn’t have put him on par with Jiren and Whis agreed.

Yep, this shouldn't be a Saiyan thing. I'm assuming that Jiren already has a perfected version of a Ultra Instinct. Goku's body running hot while he was in the state appeared to be some kind of flaw. Jiren's comment towards Goku leads me to believe that he is familiar with UI already.

If he did, the gods would’ve said it and wound have freaked out like they did with Goku.

Oh yeah, they'd still have to deal with the ToP most likely, but U7 probably wouldn't be second from the bottom though! The mortal level would be good bit higher lol. U7 doesn't have near as much life as it should!

We don’t know how life in U7 compares to any other universes.

Jiren is still suppressed at this point. That's the only explanation I really got for the rest of the Gods not commenting on it. I believe it's going to be revealed that he has the ability. That's why he appears to have an understanding of what's happening to Goku's body,

Being suppressed wouldn’t hide UI since it’s all about reacting without thinking, not power. Not to mention, he would have to use it to counter Goku, yet no one claimed Jiren had it.

Goku is both. He’s gifted and won the genetic lottery.

It isn’t the opposite of the Future Trunks Saga since Vegeta told Black that he would never unlock all of Goku’s power and Vegeta in the end was right. Black was very strong, but despite everything he never broke Goku’s shell to unlock UI or this new form. He just improved Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan.

Still think he has it, man. We'll just have to wait and see. Neither you or I knows all the mechanics of this yet.

I'm not comparing the life in U7 relative to other universes. There have been multiple scourges like Buu, the Saiyans, and Frieza that have wiped out large quantities of planets and life. U7 would have more life if Shin (or Beerus for that matter) actually cut these cancers out.

I’m still holding out hope for Ultra Instinct Mystic Full Power Super Saiyan Bluezaru Kaioken x20 Vegito, Potential Unleashed.
I threw up a little in my mouth.

Vegito was awesome vs Black but I'm honestly over fusion. I want to see my characters shine and be strong on their own. Relying on fusions is meh. Besides the stronger they get the less it lasts.

(I had to grab this from a youtube vid sorry, at work)

Something about this shot of Whis right near the end of the fight is striking to me, not sure why. He seems to know more than anyone else about what's going on, but at the same time he's confused and intrigued about the timing of events and the activation via spirit bomb absorption. It's just neat seeing Whis anything but completely aloof.

I also really like that second theme that comes in after the insert song. Is it uploaded anywhere?

This ends by going full Sun Wukong

Saiyans are the mortalized descendants of a race of fighting gods thrown out of the celestial hierarchy for causing trouble, Goku is the reincarnation of Sun Wukong himself who is going to reclaim his divinity once he becomes enlightened

That.....strangely makes a lot of sense.

The scaling of the manga isn't the same as the anime. In the manga, Merged Zamasu got ass raped by Vegito Blue, while Merged Zamasu in the anime gave a good fight and even knocked Vegito on his butt.

Toriyama may supervise the manga, but that doesn't mean the anime uses the same scale. In fact, we clearly see that it doesn't, see manga Hit compared to anime Hit. Toyo was even wishy-washy on this when directly asked if Vegito was stronger than Beerus, he said he didn't know and Shin could have been wrong.
Well duh. Zamasu didnt power up in the manga.

Yeah no Jiren isn't borrowing anybody's power, he's got that aura of someone who knows what the fuck he's doing and who the fuck he is

Jiren could have it and be able to turn it on and off like I assume is how it will be with Goku.

(I hope he doesn't)

That is most definitely not what that means. Jiren had the power, a lot more than Goku, necessary to force the spirit bomb back towards Goku. That's quite a bit different from actually being hit with the attack and sustaining direct damage from it. As the other poster said, Jiren made sure he was never hit by it. That said, presumably if Goku could take it like he did, then there's ample reason to think that Jiren could also. Frieza also took a direct hit from a spirit bomb once before as well.

It's entirely possible that Jiren could have so much power that even the spirit bomb wouldn't hurt him much. So what you say is likely, but we have to remember he was never actually hit by the attack.

Huuh but actually without Frieza and the others you wouldn't have Goku and co as strong as they are now! Plus they needed Frieza in the Tournament at the end it evens out for the Kais 😉

he doesnt. Otherwise they would have already commented on it. And his God wouldnt have looked so worried.

You missed the part of my comment where I said he might be able to turn it on and off and he just hasn't turned it on yet.

His GoD was worried about the spirit bomb, so I don't think we can use that to prove anything. I don't think it would prove anything either way considering he could be worried because he believes another UI user is the only thing that could possibly counter Jiren's UI.

I just don’t see him not using UI to some extent to counter Goku’s new form if he could turn it off.

He could be that strong without it, which is what I'd want. It would be more interesting to me if Ultimate Instinct wasn't the "only" method of being that strong.

Edit: lol oops. *Ultra

They probably wouldn't need to without Frieza fucking up the universe

Then again Beerus

Hmmm, you make a good point! Their incompetence might have saved them in the long run. Without all that conflict, U7 would have much softer fighters. The ToP might have caught them w/ their pants down then, haha.

That one is 100% on Beerus too since he was going after the Kais.

Beerus is fucking slacker.

Frieza probably destroyed some potentially strong races or warriors as an emperor because they pissed him off or because of the potential danger

He did.. Twice.

He didn’t. He just used his full power. Him growing against Vegito was just desperate just like when Cell tried it against Gohan.

That is most definitely not what that means. Jiren had the power, a lot more than Goku, necessary to force the spirit bomb back towards Goku. The episode literally told us the Spirit Bomb couldn’t beat Jiren, so Goku aborning it would make him suddenly a match. This isn’t up to interpretation.

Except that doesn't work.

Tien said "the genkidama's power didn't work on jiren" which is completely irrelevant since what made the difference was Jiren and Goku's gap, not the power of the attack itself.

Tzro7b.jpg

Everybody was impressed by the power of the attack. What Whis confirmed is that the genkidama boost alone was not enough to help Goku match Jiren, but that could mean ANYTHING.

Ultra Trunks was "stronger than Cell" yet he stood no chance. We have no reason to believe this isn't one of those case where the mode was needed because Jiren seems to be using something similar/ uses his ki way more efficiently / effortlessly.
