LEGO |OT6| We Only Build in Black. And Sometimes Very Dark Grey.

I finished Palace Cinema a few days ago and now I have started to rearrange my city layout. It's been a mess for some time so it will take a bit of moving around. I also rebuilt my police station to close the back and make it modular. In no way is it a masterpiece but closing it up means I can put it wherever I want in the city.

On that note, that set was one of my priced possessions when it came to Lego as a child, but in hindsight it was probably one of the weaker police stations, it's set 6332.

Weren't there rumours about a post office? Iirc Ghostmind sqaushed them though, but confirmed a modular is planned.

It would be sad if they didn't. On the other hand, my mantle is full now so AS being the last would be convenient.

Also. Ninjago City is a modular in all but thr name

Getting really worried that there wont be a modular building next year...no rumours , no news no nothing :(

LEGO may be getting better at keeping secrets. I think Joker manor was a surprise for many when revealed. Rumor was Wayne Manor which was close, but off mark enough for a nice surprise.

The lack of rumors is at least partly due to the shrinking of reputable sources of information.

In the past year a number of individuals with "insider info" have either been banned from fan site forums, or have left of their own volition, or have left the hobby altogether.

My own pool of sources has definitely diminished, and as such I am having more incidents of being surprised when something leaks (which can be a positive in some ways).

LEGO has also become more thorough in their leak sweeps, and some fan sites have become more compliant to enforcing LEGO's whims.

Just built the Batwing, quite a quick build really but solid as a rock. I'm not really sure what the point of the moving mechanism is as it just moves the engines up and down but the wings stay horizontal.

Now just the Assembly Square remaining...

I’ve yet to get the Batwing. It’s looks cool, little thick. I’m really most put off though by the complete lack of figs for a $90 set. Or more accurately just one unique fig of Harley with the tutu. I’m really waiting for a half off fire sale on it or something. Still need the Ultimate Batmobile too.

Holy shit. Came home and Ninjago City was allready here. Neighbours accepted the package for me. My DHL tracking code wasn't even active yet when I tried it this noon.

The VIP Promo set wasn't included. I think they send it in an extra package for some reason (I have a different tracking code for that one when I log in to shop@home). not sure if I'll build it. Not so fond of how it looks, and not sure where I would display it. I feel dirty for typing this: but I might sell it if I can fetch a good after market price. Would take an extra sting out of forking 329 euro's for NC (second most expensive set I ever bought)

There must be a modular coming, otherwise they'd have just released Ninjago City in January and swallowed up the modular market alongside the Ninjago one.

Personally I would love a modular hospital this year. The amount of possible microbuilds they could create for it would be ridiculous, and with the wheelchair and babies around now there are various possibilities with those. Could be so full of things to see.

A proper apartment building would be pretty cool too, I mean, it doesn't always have to be shops and stuff right!

I think Lego has to control better the lacks to avoid the early copies from the Chinese companies...

Hopefully the new modular will be revealed soon.

It's like AUD$160 RRP here. Though I picked it up for around $135.

It's much more solid than the Ultimate Batmobile which is annoyingly fragile.

LegoGAF I may need an intervention.. Has anyone else have a rando set theme end up in a bulk lot and started blindly convincing themselves they need to complete it?

I've never given the Potter theme a second look and yet after piecing together a Hogwarts school I find myself picking up a Diagon Alley under the flimsy justification that these 'investments' may see a speculative resurgence if the D2C and CMF 2018 rumors hold true.

But also modified 1 x 2 sand greens are basically cash.

Halp.

I'm gonna get the batwing eventually, still have to get the fire mech first. Looks really cool and will look nice next to the milano and Benny's spaceship

I see nothing wrong here.

Does Seattle's Emerald City Comic Con get any LEGO exclusives (like that Brickheadz Boba Fett/Carbonite Han)?

I have a friend going and if he can I'd love him to snag an exclusive for me, haha.

It's not an investment if you already have to pay a heavily inflated price.

Got drunk last week and bought the UCS R2. I regret not buying it at the time and now I have it I'm sure it'll all be worth it when it's built.

who was it that wanted the lego guy in the bowler hat minifig? I was just in Leicester Square so picked a couple up as I was passing.

I was the guy, but another gaf member already got me covered (thanks toythatkills). Sorry, I should have posted that I got help. Also, thanks to simplyred I alreadu got the bricktober batman pack too.

Currently on bag 10 of Destiny's Bounty. Holy Shit, this truly looks to be the ship to rule them all.

I mean, Black Pearl and Queen Anne's Revenge have got NOTHING on this bad boy so far... it's wider, more detailed and just overall better in every way that i can see this becoming my favorite Lego Ship yet! (though i don't own Imperial Flagship but still...

Hadn't bought any Lego since the summer clearance sales at Walmart, so when I walked into TRU and saw the Bricktober promotion for the Batman minifig set I ended up spending about an hour walking the aisles, debating the purchase of this or that. They had some LBM and Marvel sets marked down to 20% off, but I already had most of them although the Batwing at $75 was tempting. I debated some of the Ninjago sets too, but something tells me they're going to be a lot cheaper when the next round of clearance sales takes place.

In the end I bought a couple of small Star Wars sets, mostly for the minifigs, and felt my way to a King Tut minifig to push me over the $50 threshold.

That was before licensed themes became super big, right?

Star Wars was in 99, Harry Potter in 01. That was the era of the earliest licensed sets.

Exactly. The old Star Wars sets look now super awful, but it still has the old styl charme. Harry Potter looked also pretty cool and have aged better. Were there sets for the second movie?

I like the look of 1998-2001 Lego sets. Maybe its some kind of Nostalgia, but I think afterwards Lego had a very different look.

That's mostly nostalgia. I wasn't around at that point, but early Star Wars was horrible and there was a bunch of really weird, ugly Technic-style stuff before Bionicles got going. Some of the first Harry Potter stuff was nightmare inducing too.

I mean, it's probably nostalgia for me too, but I can't help thinking that early Space themes looked so much better. Blue/grey, white/blue, grey/black, Futuron, Space Police, M-Tron and Ice Planet all have awesome colours. They went all over the place after that.

Overall, I'd say some of the 70's-80's stuff looks quaint today but has the classic colours. When they got more to experiment with, they didn't really start making good looking stuff until 2007. Minifigures were pretty horrible until 2009ish too, aside from the classic look.

Some of the early Star Wars stuff has the look of something a fan with four hours and unlimited bricks put together. Simple design with basic pieces, yet it got the job done.

I love the sets that strike a balance between being true to the source material and not using tons of specialized pieces. The constractions, while they look cool, drive me crazy in that regard.

This x100. Whoever came aboard to push the art direction of the figs, specifically the approach to the facial features, into the cohesive unified look we have now across licensed, classic and unique themes deserves a lot of credit for their success.

Those "learning years" were pretty awful.

Falcon finally arrived. That's a heavy box.

Been bed ridden since last Tuesday. Got a stomachs virus that causes me to get myocarditis.

So I've been restricted to being sedentary. Though not that I've been physically able to do anything else.

Heart doc tmrw. Hopefully some promising outlook.

Might have extra time for Lego soon if I can feel a bit better.

Get well soon. That’s a lot of bricks waiting on you.

Blacktron minifig From 80s still the king for me.

I like the pirates from the very early 90’s.
