I'm mostly an arcade racer, love Forza Horizon and Burnout Paradise. That said, I got a new tv 2 weeks ago and the HDR is really wooing me. Any judgements of how much I'll enjoy this game?

Question for you guys. What level is your HDR intensity set at?

It seems at startup when they ask you to increase the slider until the checkered boxes are barely visible, mine ends up at HDR 5. If I push it a little bit higher, I think my TV can hit HDR 6.

What's yours at. I have a Sony Bravia X800D.

I find the boxes less useful than the test screenshots.

If you match the boxes you can still end up blowing out details in the sky on the first screenshot.

Goddamit I went home on my lunch break and my copy had been delivered. Left it for more than three hours to start on the update... 1.2GB is all that's been done since I left..!

My internet isn't THAT slow, the download must have slowed to a crawl. Thanks shitty fucking PSN. I just want to play... Needless to say pausing and resuming and away it goes, 36 hours left down to "just" 4... FML.
I tried to boot it up at midnight last night only to get hit with the update download but it only took 12 minutes which was a pleasant surprise.

Hm, mine I think had to be set to 15. I'm on the same set as you actually.

No, I think you're looking at the wrong value. In the main screen, hit the GT icon and go to settings. - Video settings, it should tell your "HDR intensity" or something like that.

You're giving me the numerical value when you did the checker board slider thing.

Not even the best top class HDR TV screens can give you HDR intensity at 15. You're probably anywhere from HDR 4 to HDR 6, especially since we have the same tv.

I just sat down to play my first 3 Sports races of the final game (was in the beta and demo) and its still fantastic. I've never had this much fun with a racing game! I can't wait for the Championships coming up in early November.

Also, regarding the SR rating... I had received a demotion of an SR rating in the demo to C right before it finished, but I managed to race almost 100% clean in all 3 races and was back up to a B after 2 of them.

Watching the etiquette video that shows what gives you a penalty made me realize why I was probably being penalized when I was the one getting hit. Though I felt like I was leaving enough room its possible I was slightly squeezing the other guy in the corner forcing him to hit my car on the side near the back. So today I went out of my way to let anyone driving badly pass me to avoid any unnecessary contact. Sure enough it helped me have clean races and 75% of the time the bad driver would wreck shortly thereafter for an easy pass.

I can't wait to hop in and play more later tonight!

How in the world do you get your free stuff from the LE? I should have got 8 free cars, a chrome helmet and some other junk. I have nothing.

I’m pretty much a single player only player. In my history of gaming only Tribes 2 and Warhawk have been online games I could play for more than a few days. Absolutely hated online races in GT5 and 6 but this game... it’s just so good! I’ve had more fun online in this than those boring cups where you just play an overpowered car and win with no challenge. The A level ones were harder though but most of the time cups in GT was just grinding.

Oh, based on what you said before I thought that was what you were referring to.

If you mean the HDR Peak Brightness setting, I have it on 3. I haven't touched it since the initial setup.

Sorry I don't have it yet and haven't been able to keep up; Are there more than three events in sport mode?

Ah yeah lol, I completely missed the kmh difference. Still can't quite figure out what I'm doing incorrectly that keeps me from going below 14.9 seconds, though. It feels like my full throttle speed is cut in half compared to the tutorial video. I believe Auto-Drive defaults to off on intermediate. ABS is on by default in settings.

Specifically check that auto-drive is completely off. I picked "***" for settings, and it was still on. This happened to me in the demo and the effect was that I lost all my speed at one particular sharp turn.

They are downloaded seperately, at least in my case. Check the game on the PS4 desktop and click addons.

I tried that. Installed them again. Restarted. It will not pop up in the game. I have the pre-order bonus cars and that's all.

edit: Nevermind. Restarted my PS4 and it worked. Whatever, Sony.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
So what's happening on Nurburgring 24h?

Good question. I have yet to try it, is that some isolated case of dynamic time shift? Or does the game break at natural points to reload new time change(like at certain race thresholds)?

Edit: Answered above. So yea, still no dynamic time shift.

Good to hear, what about getting rear ended?

Pretty much accept that until I hit A rating I'll occasionally have to take safer routes through the corners (ie not the Apex) instead of faster.

In general though I find people going way to slow through corners. So I don't really get rear ended that often.

Get your brake points nailed down people. At least on the very first straight.

Safe distance and I guess ready to brake is all you can do.

...and this. Gotta accept it.

Fiddling with the settings and realizing my R2 trigger was giving out (it only registered up to to half pressure on the throttle) was what solved my issue. I've been getting golds back to back in the Driving School after I plugged in a new controller. Really do appreciate the help!

Hmm, 3?

I think you should be a bit higher than that. Try HDR at 5. I know the 800D is a budget friendly HDR option and it's peak brightness is limited, but it seems to handle 5 HDR peak brightness pretty well.

I think the PS store is still updating for me and I can't link it. But under new add ons is a scapes bundle that's 8 gigs.

So has anyone tried a converter to see if it works on getting a Thrustmaster xbox one on a PS4?

They are a bunch that work well for arcade fight sticks. Was hoping for the same in regards to wheels.

Random impressions

- there is a lot of music tracks and where can I buy the album for real driving ?

- the LOD changes on cars are a bit much sometimes as in super obvious and perhaps not necessary when there are only 3 cars in view

- catching a car that snap oversteers with a controller is impossible at default settings.
With a wheel is ok.

Try motion controls.

That's on their list of know bug issues

– We will increase the steering speed on the standard DualShock 4 controller to improve controllability while oversteering and drifting.

A CPU had hit it on a previous lap and knocked it into the center of the course. Ran over it on purpose to see what happened.

Oh I understood, I meant how could the car jump in the middle of the road by hitting a floating corner exit marker, but maybe the poster didn't watch the video.

The cone thing is unfortunate, maybe following the CPU car in replay will affect the cone behaviour differently? I'm guessing it's just recalculating their physics and not tracking their history in the replay data.
