How Bad Is Your Souls Withdrawal?

Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes. I'm still playing Dark Souls 3 weekly, but reeeally craving some new souls'ness. Hoping for a new announcement soon, but probably not gonna happen :\

Nine out of ten orphans can't tell the difference.
Replaying Bloodborne right now, unsure which run this is - feels like the 10th time I play but probably 'only' the ~4th or so. So happy over it, hate it times, terrified of it at times but always reminds me of how fun it is to be able to have a new favorite game of all time even at my age.

Can't wait for the team's next game - hope it's at least as much of an overall departure from Bloodborne as that game was from Souls.

Any realistic eta of when we can get a glimpse of the next project? Feasible this year?

I just replay them in loop + Pes, Dragon's Dogma and some other games.
But i would buy a new souls title every six months, it's my shit.

Nioh and Ys 8 on the hardest setting with no healing items used gave me my challenging game fix already so I'm all good oh also hollow knight

I'm good on souls for a while give me another Amored Core that is like For Answer

I like souls but, this is kinda ridiculous considering Souls has not left the limelight since it's start in 2009.

The last Armored Core game I enjoyed was AC: for Answer in 2008 as I was not a fan of how V or Verdict Day felt and Verdict day was in 2013.

And yet people tell me to stop asking for Armored Core.

I do not have withdrawal at all. You have 5 great games with extra DLC stuff to go back to. People liked DS3 but, even people that love the franchise a ton were starting to feel like maybe there was too much of a good thing.

Yeah Armored Core is something I look forward to than another Souls game.

But everything is Dark Souls now, how can someone be in such condition?

Shitty jokes aside, I'm "done" enough with the series that I feel no need to get on with the DS3 DLCs...

A Bloodborne 2/Same-formula-with-a-twist is more than welcomed...

Next year I'm going to get high on a drug I haven't experienced in years:

MONSTER HUNTER

Now, that was a depressing withdrawal

I didn't think I would miss it, to be honest. I felt as burned out as could be when Dark Souls 3 came out, and didn't even play the game until well after it's release. Now however, I really, really miss the series, and while I understand and support From's decision to move on, I can't help but want something to fill the void. I'd be cool with a DS1 remaster, even.

I'm curious... why do y'all think we haven't gotten a Dark Souls 1 remaster? The game is beloved, and looks and runs terribly on last-gen consoles (it's sub-HD with a framerate that can dip to like 10-15 FPS for extended periods), and a remaster would be a great way to fill the gap that From creating has created leaving the series behind, plus there's even an existing PC port running on the same architecture as PS4/X1. Does Namco Bandai just think there's no demand? Would the PC version be difficult to port to current platforms for some reason? I don't really get it, cuz it seems like a no-brainer to me.

Stuff like this reminds me that I should definitely get back to Dark Souls 3, even though I felt the game feels meh after Bloodborne.

But I spent money on it already, can't let it go to waste.

After Nioh, I can't go back to Dark Souls.

Yep, that combat system from heaven. Going back to a Souls game feels like playing an mmo now. No kidding. No hyperbole. And boy, 60fps is a bare minimum requirement for this type of game. Imagine playing Tekken with 30fps. Vomits

Can we let them have more than 1,5 years of development time? As much as I love Souls (and I really really do) I dont wan't a new Dark Souls game in like 10 years.

Bloodborne 2 I would take.

from the release of Bloorborne in 2015 all the way to some months after Ds3 released i played nothing but souls games. I'm relatively burnt out but i would play the hell out of a ds1 remaster.

Platinumed Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3, Replayed them many times in co-op with friends, And i can safely say i am done with them for awhile. From need something new and fresh and that will take time. You dismiss Nioh but me and a friend just went back to it after all the patches. Much better! Gameplay stomps all over the souls games aswell i'm afraid, So does Dragons Dogma.

I have faith in whatever From is working on next.

It’s physically impossible for me to have Souls withdrawal after playing Dark Souls 2, I couldn’t even motivate myself to play 3 after that mess. I’ll continue replaying Demon’s Souls if I need to scratch that itch. Maybe Bloodborne if I need to spice it up.

I can't stress enough how good Nioh is. It's honestly got the best combat I know and would rank among the most fun moment-to-moment experiences I have personally had in gaming. Nioh'd probably still be a 7/10 game if it consisted of nothing but a moderately sized white room with a stroll doll in the center you could style on. 60 FPS matter so much.

My advice is that you should consider to play ds3, it's nothing like 2 and it's another masterpiece by big M, imho.

I've had Dark Souls 3 in my backlog since Christmas but I'm saving it for a time I actually feel like playing it. I was a bit burned out after 100%-ing Bloodborne and DS2:SotFS back to back. It's nice to have a brand-new Souls game waiting in the wings, though.

I'd much rather see a Demon's Souls remaster than Dark Souls, tbh. I'm playing Dark Souls on PC in 4k and it looks great, for what it is.

Not very well :(

I've gone from game to game and ended up playing Path of Exile in hardcore (perma-death) to scratch that itch.

I still go back to DS2: SofFS for the PvP a lot.

Is that a good one or is it like lords of the fallen?
General impression seemed to be that it's much better than LotF, most common complaint was a lack of variety (in both enemy and environment).

Personally I loved it, but I also really liked LotF.

Well, I don't have a gaming PC, and the last-gen versions are no bueno, so... :/

I just really don't get why there isn't one, tho. I figured it was a sure thing after DS2 got the remaster treatment. Seems bizarre to me that Namco just passed on it, unless there would be some issue with porting it that I'm unaware of (PC version being difficult to port, licensing issues, something along those lines). That's why I was wondering if something could be holding it up.

It's pretty bad tbh. I replayed Dark Souls 3, Dark Souls 1 and Bloodborne this year, probably gonna get The Surge before the end of the year. I love the Souls gameplay way too much...

And I agree, we need that DS1 remaster...

5 Souls type games from the masters themselves in 7 years, as well as some heavily inspired Souls type games from other devs...and you're going through withdrawals?

I'm burnt out, personally.

You want me to make it worse? I'm pretty Fromsoft wasted a shitload of time making a mech game for PSVR. The stuff they hired for and the wording of some press releases kind of hinted at both. Who knows if they are still making this mech game or they came to their senses already and are working on something more than a handful of people will be interested in.

Go sit down and take deep breaths. Souls is not everything and isn't the only thing From should be allowed to work on.

Not bad at all. I hope FromSoft does something different next, they need to take a break from that formula (or really change it up.)

Bronetta

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
I still have the DS3 DLC to go through so its not too bad.

There's always DS2 if I get really desperate.

Still burnt out. 2 to bloodborne to 3 was all a blur. They overdid it in my opinion.

Bloodhound was a blur? Really? I mean, Bloodhound was easily the most unique (and Imo, best) of all the Souls games. Very different in terms of atmosphere and mechanics from the rest of them.

From needs to give us some idea of what the fuck is coming out next, show us pre-alpha footy, I ain’t care. We’re in the Sunken Place right now.

Other games are dark and full of lootboxes.
I'm personally replaying The Witcher 3 right now, along with Dishonored 2, Nier Automata,Prey then I've got Wolfenstein and Mario next week, may even pick up BOTW.
None have loot boxes and all are critically acclaimed games. Not really the same as Souls but all great in their own right and no loot boxes in sight :)

I'm a bit burned out on the concept tbh, and was during Dark Souls 3 already. Never finished the last boss, nor checked out the DLC for it or DS2.

Chill out. From can and is working on a few things right now. Mech game included. You'll get what you're looking for, and maybe a few things you're not. Be patient and let From spread their wings a bit. Plenty of very talented and creative people over there, they deserve the creative freedom they've earned and time to accomplish their vision.

Not to me. After playing Darksouls 3, bloodborne felt like a chunk of game missing from DS3 with some gameplay tweaks.
