Destiny reaching top 2017 without PC version is impressive but expected. It seems a lot of people still wait for PC version or is gonna double dip. Only important thing for me i 0 friends bought Console versions and are all waiting for PC version.

And GTAV still in top 10 of course. Incredible..

Are these numbers for Metroid Samus Returns on par to what was to be expected for it to be considered a success?
Well in perspective, zero mission sold just under a million on the gba. We don't know how much would convince nintendo to make another 2d metroid.

damn just noticed it was 12. this franchise has seen better days.

It has? When? The series never has sold good.

Highlights
1. Destiny 2 is now the best-selling game in 2017 and third in the charts for the best-selling titles in the last 12 months. As a result of its success, Activision Blizzard was the top publisher in September, and it’s also now the top-selling publisher in the past 12 months.

2. Visual Concepts’ NBA 2K18, which launched on September 19, also topped the charts for 2017. After its first month of sales, NBA 2K18 is the best-selling sports game year-to-date.

3. “NBA 2K18 had the largest consumer spend in launch month of any sports genre title since the current generation of consoles launched in November 2013,” said Piscatella.

4. Hardware spending was up last month, generating $316 million in revenue though consumers weren’t buying as many portable consoles. Sales were driven by the Nintendo Switch, SNES Classic, and PlayStation 4, which is still the best-selling console year-to-date. All together, hardware sales have grown year-to-date to $2.1 billion, which is up 20 percent as compared to 2016.

5. “Sony’s PlayStation 4 led all hardware platforms in consumer spend during September 2017, while Nintendo Switch sold the most units amongst the current generation consoles,” said Piscatella. “SNES Classic was the overall top unit selling hardware platform in the period.”

6. Just as PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch consoles drove growth for hardware, so did their controllers in the accessories category. The DualShock 4 Wireless Controller Black for the PlayStation 4 was the best-selling accessory last month, while the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller is the top-selling accessory year-to-date.

Also glad to see an actual gaming news thread on this gaming forum

If I may allow myself a little hint of sarcasm... NPD threads are the reason why you shouldn't request a permaban from GAF.

Metroid tops the 3ds chart!

A sequel that builds on the strong foundations for Switch would be amazing.

I would even take a Super Metroid Remake, but prefer a follow up to Fusion

SNES the best selling console in 2017, and not even a proper SNES. Followed by the weakest current gen console. I hope at least some major companies can get it through their head that we don't need hyper realistic $100M games.

Nintendo smashing it. What a year for them and what an amazing start for the Switch. I can’t remember a first six months as good as this for any console, content wise.

Also, Destiny is clearly a beast. Still not happy about the MTs though.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite actually did half decently (completely bombed elsewhere) and Destiny 2 actually had huge digital sales. Heh. Makes the original Destiny 2 bomba in US thread funnier to read.

Interesting. Wonder why its revenue wise? Didnt destiny launch with several editions and year one passes too? Was its digital percentage just huge?

D2 has the edge of the inclusion of microtransactions, but I can't imagine that being a huge contribution to the revenue. Considering it drops significantly at retail (~50% in UK for example), its digital percentage is probably the highest we've ever seen.

Yeah, digital sales for D2 must be through the roof. It's anecdotal, but none of my 8 IRL friends I play with bought it physically.

Yeah since physical had a really big drop. I knew something was weird. D2 was a pretty big release for September and while I wasn't expecting D1 results I still expected D2 to sell big.

It’s crazy to see a Switch exclusive that high on the list considering the high multiplatform releases. Good job Ubisoft!

People everywhere complaining about MvCi, but there it is.

Damn, Metroid didn't make it to the top 10. :(
It would make it in the top 10 if it was based on units sold. However, this is based on revenue made. Meaning the more expensive games are a lot more of an advantage in these charts.

Glad to see Switch and Mario X Rabbids doing so well.

It will be really interesting to see how many Switch's Nintendo can sell in November for Mario Odyssey's release. Didn't they sell something crazy like 4.4 million Wii's in a single NPD month? I wonder what realistic expectations are, 2 million?

4.4 million? No way.
