Review codes just went out over the weekend, it'll be a few days still. Nowhere near enough time to play through a decent chunk of a game this scale, and also write up thorough review.

People want to know if they should spend their money on launch day. Reviewers weren't given enough time to finish the game before launch, but potential buyers want to know now.

Given that the reviewer is of the opinion that DA:O is some kind of pinacle of RPG design, it follows that his opinion on BG3 as an overall inferior product to DA:O is not surprising.
As for what I think of DA:O, I have nothing "against" it, but I do think that it's a product already representative of Bioware's downfall phase. I don't find DA:O enticing or impressive on any level. But that's my personal opinion and of course you're free to disagree.
I'm refering specifically to CDPR's heavy focus on story and character interactions. The rest of the gameplay is of course very different.
I almost forgot about the 2.0 update and Phantom Liberty. I don't have time to play all this shit.

Their own Divinity franchise is a perfectly fine setting for people who like DnD, but DnD has a lot more iconic races, gods, monsters, and so on.

That isn't exactely an easy question to answer. Different franchises, therefore different settings, etc. The games are overall similar in the sense that they are isometric, turn-based, etc, but don't expect DOS2 to have the same production values, cinematics, etc, as BG3.
Also, the DOS games are more silly and goofy in tone, which turned me off hard. Personally I wouldn't miss them if Larian never went back, but they will for sure make a DOS3 with the production values of BG3.

It's $70.
For some reason, only the digital deluxe edition was showing up in the PSN store. That was 80. Found the base game In the sidebar for 70.
Reason is pretty clear, I think. Now when they are grouping all editions under the single tile you always should check extensions.

Played most of the evening my wife couch coop and one of our friends who joined online for and got about 3 hours in.
Game of the year, easy! It would have to do something of an extreme magnitude to change my mind. So dynamic, fun and the dialogue is just so good.

It can be, but whoever drops in needs to take control of a character in your party. If you want custom characters for everyone you need to start a new campaign with your buddies

Yes. Though I would recommend starting a new game for MP though as any custom characters stay as part of the party. So if you host a game and your friend joins with their custom character, you cannot get them to leave the party and will have to control them yourself once your friend leaves.
