Hell no, Cyberpunk was a major let down for me. I waited to play it until last year when most of the bugs were fixed. I thought it was boring. I didn't like the characters, the city felt dead, looked under whelming. I seriously thought I was doing a side quest for 4 hours until I realized oh, this is the main story.. Starfield on the other hand sucked me in for over 200 hours. The game just keeps giving and the amount of content is insane. Pick any random planet and chances are something crazy is going to happen that is not scripted. For me SF is easily a 9.5/10 while I'd give Cyberpunk a 7-8.

Really? I didn't see any stuff like that.

Bethesda is not known for this, so far they didn't even release single good patch with promised features and I completed the game in that time (more than 70h). Look at F4 or Skyrim, other than some DLC Bethesda don't really change their game much, they updated engine in Skyrim after few years so it looks better but that's it. They will abandon this game (just like Arkane did with Redfall)

What is that much RPG about Starfield? I think it has less choice than cyberpunk when it comes to story and skill system is really bad (on par with CP at launch probably). In both games core gameplay element is shooting enemies.
Cyberpunk is a glorified far cry game to me. Perks are not just rpg far cry has it

Never mentioned Bethesda. But the mods in the other hand.

Someone is going to have to flesh out how Starfield is any more a RPG than Cyberpunk

Both have character creation with back stories you can choose from.
Both have skill or perks although Starfield has more of them, but that is evened out with attributes
Both have the ability to cater builds to those skills or perks
Both have subsets to those skills or perks except Cyberpunk's are much more intricate than Starfield's simple leveling of skills
Starfield has equipment with attributes but Cyberpunk goes much further into all of that with cyberware

What am I missing?

Role playing.

What role do you play in stories set in the world.

Did you give water to thirsty travellers, or did you steal their ship away.

Did you settled colony ship residents on planet of their choosing or did you whisked them away.

Small details might not seem like much but that's what I consider role playing.

Edit: haven't started Cyberpunk so dunno how it compares.

Modding tools and the DLC is what will make Starfield jump up in popularity. Cyberpunk is currently being hyped up due to 2.0 release. Mods have been out for a while with CP and they are nowhere near the level of Elder Scrolls or Fallout games. Good luck creating quests or full blown adventures in CP as opposed to the open structure that Bethesda usually provides.

I think you could have a more fleshed out comparison once Creation Club and Shattered Space is released.

It's really just Fallout/Elder Scrolls in Space being waged against Doom: Cyberpunk Edition. Could probably get away with CP2077 being a good Borderlands game.

You make plenty of choices dealing with NPCs in Cyberpunk as well. Lots of options to help folks or not. Kill them or let them live. Reveal information or keep it to yourself and see how either option plays out.

And from what I understand, there are multiple endings in CP where your prior choices actually have an impact. In Starfield, there is a single decision that dictates the endgame.

Perhaps you could add a poll to the thread? I mean I assume Starfield is going to get shit on, but you never know there could be a silent majority hidden on neogaf that think starfield is the greatest game ever made.
I thought of putting a poll but didn’t want to be linear. Also, I wanted to discuss here so adding a pole will not encourage users to discuss.

Not true. It's about freedom and choices. Cyberpunk has one linear storyline thts good but sometimes u like to do stuff your own way cyberpunk don't let you have choice to
Why you bringing freedom into a quantity vs quality argument? This is not a case of 1000 vs 2.

I feel more incontrol of my story in starfield & I get to choose when I want to do a faction and in what order, they are also filled with so much more content & not just gigs on a map. Also your companions in starfield very much react to everything you do in the game/world, they chime in on countless moments, especially in dialog. Cyberpunk it's just Johnny, the replayability depending on who you have with you is rewarding as well because of that. In all the time it takes to get those 4 endings, I'm still enjoying my first playthrough. I'm not looking forward to the endings of my RPG, I'm looking forward to the experience I had leading up to the end & again Cyberpunk falls flat. The amount of NPCs and side quest I have in starfield is insanely more than Cyberpunk & if you are telling me 4 endings is all that I can get from the lack of content then I rather have 1 ending any day personally.
The way cyberpunk handles quests and factions and everything in this world is wrong from what initial . They should have copied Bethesda formula not ubisoft formula. I feel like cyberpunk is far cry.

For all the role playing talk the creator of cyberpunk talked about and how all those systems were goin to be in the game ,it's really wild they released the game cyberpunk as it is now. Just an action game with perks

It is a much better game based on my preferences. I love how Cyberpunk is much more focused on the story and more cinematic. Plus the characters you interact with feel MUCH more believable and the conversations themselves aren't always static.

Classic case of quantity over quality.
Classic reply. 8+ Years of both games being developed. Cyberpunks map/content is laid out like a typical Ubisoft collectathon typically made in 3 years time. Starfields content clearly shows the time put into the game. Half of the people on this thread say 2077 feels like an action game & not an RPG for a good reason. The things devs put time into was such a waste personally, only used to to nitpick at Starfield like water physics, or how a citizen looks at you/reacts. Let's see how long you spend putting time into water content or caring about a pointless GTA style NPC in 2077 while Bethesda cared more about RPG skills, creative aspects, companions, and loads of more content/replay value.

All cyberpunk had was a scripted Johnny pop up and say something then disappear and all the skills in cyberpunk was mostly "% = more damage". Never was so bored with a skill tree in my life when it came to 2077. I get actual new gameplay features in starfield with the skill system & traits. Companions in Starfield are awesome especially compared to past BSG games but hey some people don't have the attention span for a Bethesda RPG. The more you give the more you get. 2077 is more of the same sadly.

I'm aware of that for CP

That doesn't make Bethesda's attempt any less shit. The companions are trash and the skills garbage tier and a step down from their previous games (again)

It actually does make it less shit because Bethesda does it clearly better and that's why you only compared Bethesda to themselves. How are the companions or skills better in the other BGS games?

In what world are the companions good? The only meaningful ones are from one faction and they all have the same annoying moral compass. It's shit. They're an embarrassment after Fallout 4

Tell me one new gameplay feature you get in Starfield that you don't get from CP skill tree or ripperdoc augments

EDIT now that I think about it, this post is even sillier when between the skill tree and ripperdocs Cyberpunk definitely has more new gameplay features as you progress.

To me they are two different things. Based off my level of enjoyment, Starfield is better.

Ive decides that most gamers now have memory problems and now just want to post screenshots as if that makes a game good somehow.

It does not matter to me how great a game looks, if it sucks....it sucks. Cyberpunks dlc story may be good(im not buying it till a sale) but for me the game was not.

You suddenly get job offers even though your main job was a failure, that doesnt seem quite right.

For a futuristic world, it just wasnt very interesting. It did do a couple of quests well. The overall story is ok, but definitely not much in the way of choice. Exploration? There really isnt much to explore.

Not to mention the terrible, terrible launch.

Starfield still has that level of, "Hmmm I wonder whats over there?" aspect of gaming that i like. For me the main story is a weak point, but Ive enjoyed everything else (except outposts which i skipped).

I definitely have not run into the same bugginess Cyberpunk has/had. And Im not obsessed with graphics and have no issue with them in game, nor do i see a reason that I should.

End of the day, its whatever. You like what you like. I just know ill never agree that Cyberpunk should be anywhere near a GOTY.

Pickpocketing, Better sneaking, Lockpicking, Boostpack, The ability to steal better ships or to have/make better ships, the ability to control/command wildlife and NPCs/enemies. Unlocking more crew for your ship, a slide ability, the ability to bride people/persuade/threaten, you can upgrade you companions with a skill, you can upgrade your outpost with skilling, you can force spaceships to surrender board them and rob them, that's not even half of the skills in the game and they all can be leveled up and do even more stuff. All these skills interact with the world/characters. Cyberpunks don't.

Most of Cyberpunks is just weapons, jumps, do more damage or hacking. Bland as it gets when compared.

Lcokpicking? Cmon now bro thats like if Cyberpunk put their hacking number minigame thing behind a skill tree. Boostpack? OK dumble jump is in cyberpunk at ripperdoc, sorry its not a space game. Bribe/persuade? Guess what bro new dialogue options are available in Cyberpunk depending on how deep your attribute points are. Not only do I get new dialogue options, but I can also get behind new doors with actual good loot instead of SF where you upgrade lockpicking to get garbage and turn off turrets. Pickpocketing is your only sole example. Unless we actually count the ship surrendering thing but thats not really a gameplay feature its just "youve upgraded enough to make the loot free" lol. While between ripperdoc augments, the new skill tree, the things you can do/unlock with cyberhacking. Cyberpunk EASILY has more gameplay features to unlock.

Well it has more than one world & the game is called Starfield. They are beyond better than Fallout 4 and Vegas when handling companions. Fallout 4 you had to picklock abunch to level them up & it was tasteless. If you play the game you'll see how much dialogue & content & interesting they can be especially once you gain their likeness, I'm not sure what faction stuff you are talking about but doesn't seem like you gave any real insight about this.

I've got 90+ hours in the game. I've had more than enough time with these shitty ass companions. By faction, I mean the constellation. That's your crew.

No, there's nothing interesting about any of them. They all have the same personality. It's lazy as fuck. Even andjea who's supposed to be morally grey is just Sarah 2.0. Fallout 4 actually had varied companions.

A skill to Design your Spaceships with new options, also Starfield doesn't just have one simple extra dialogue option like Cyberpunk, there's a mini game to persuade which you can level up, skill to bribe is unique and a nice touch for RPGs. You can level up & design Spacesuits. Also one of my favorites lets us build on extreme planets with hazardous environments. Also how dare you push aside the skill to board and rob ships, being a space pirate is insanely fun.

They are in no way the same other than all mostly human lol. Do you skip dialogue or even listen to them?! Andreja is nothing like Sarah -_- I do not know what expectations you have for these companions but they have all been fun to learn the back stories and all had depth to them. Companion missions have been a good time too, built a nice outpost on the planet Sarahs mission was on, really nice location.

But hey, if you don't vibe with them that's totally fine. Mod tools will add a ton of new ones sometime early next year for consoles.

Its a space game bro. So the way it has space specific things like designing your ship, Cyberpunk has CP future specific things like Cyberhacking. Except the cyberhacking stuff leads to new ways to approach the combat gameplay, while designing your spaceship.....is designing your spaceship. Faster thrusters isn't exactly new gameplay is it?

Have you played Cyberpunk? Cause its EXACTLY the same. It takes certain amount of attribute points in certain attributes to unlock dialogue options that are the same as persuade.

The "skill to board and rob ships? What are you talking about? Have you played either of these games? Serious question at this point lol. There is no skill to do that, only a skill to SKIP doing that lmao.

Still playing Starfield, still feel like I’ve barely touched it, still absolutely loving it.

It has an insane amount of content in its missions and quests. So many unique hand crafted locations, it’s like Mass Effect on steroids.

I recall Cyberpunk having next to nothing when outside the city. Not knocking Cyberpunk - I loved it - but Starfield blows it out of the water with regards to scope and its implementation.

But to answer the question, no. Cyberpunk is not a ‘much better’ game than Starfield. Right now I would argue it’s not even better.

So? Are we gonna pretend objectively when Starfield is the sole solid exclusive in three years thats not horrible? Or because you, one guy, don't use your playstation that means xbox is great?
What are you talking about? Hi Fi rush was awesome, same with FH5, FS, AOE, pentiment., FM8 is out next week. And next year there is a TON of games coming out for xbox. The only thing we know about PS is wolverine which is probably not until 2025...

You jump from one small-ish map to another in Starfield. And outside of procedurally generated planets theres what, like 10 of these places maybe? Thats not even close to matching the scope of Cyberpunk lol and you might be the only person to defend the lazy and non immersive implementation of travelling between them.

I expected they'd be different. Not much to ask. The fact that you can even tolerate Sarah tells me all I need to know. She's a grandma dude. I bet you romanced her too. Grandma fucker lol

This might sound crazy, but when the next best console exclusive in 3 years after SF is Hi Fi Rush, people aren't exactly loving their $500 purchase lol. Google Xbox sales to see just how many agree with that sentiment

Yes there is, there's a skill target ships parts sorta like VATS from Fallout, you target the engines then you board the ship. :) I did 100% everything in Cyberpunk, My original post was about how Starfield took the time to have skills that interact with the world better. I was giving you skills that are unique to interacting with the world in Starfield and not just damage ones like most of Cyberpunks. They could have done so many better skills involving cars, NPCs, Cops, Dialogue, As a huge RPG fan, I wasn't impressed and it all felt so dull compared to all the interactivity I have in Starfield because of my skills or any Bethesda game for that matter.

Totally different games, there is a lot more depth to Starfield with what you can build and the size of the universe.
Cyberpunk is like a shooter with RPG elements, whilst Starfield is an RPG with some shooting.
As an RPG Starfield is a far superior game.
