Notch calls out Yogscast as "an isolated island of egos".

Just because there channel has a Minecraft focus doesn't mean they have to make Minecraft videos. They started with other games, and they continue branch out and pull down a large number of views on a multitude of different titles. They do not operate in any kind of "official" capacity. They make Youtube videos showcasing mods, updates to Minecraft, and story based adventures they designed within the game, and playthroughs of custom maps that tell some kind of story or offer some kind of challenge. In a number of cases, these custom maps are specifically designed for the Yogscast to play through by their fans. For Notch to go out of his way to pull all of their future videos presents an absurd and incredibly unlikely scenario, given that even during all of his whining tweets he made a point to say he still enjoyed their videos.
They don't have to apologize for anything. The expectation is for them to sit down, calmly explain where they're coming from and why this is all a series of misunderstandings, and go on with their lives.
The difference here is that many people are jumping to conclusions without really knowing much about the Yogscast, or the situation that transpired. This is why Notch's vague tweets are so irresponsible.
Never watched any of their Minecraft stuff but the Twilight readings and Harry Potter vids were hilarious.
It doesn't sound like they were acting any differently than their videos would suggest, and whatever really happened probably has absolutely nothing to with "celebrity" going to their heads. Perhaps some people just can't handle, or don't really get, that kind of personality without the psychical separation the internet provides.

And they'd hear far worse from the yogscast channel (and from notch himself on a video there). I mean, if you are a kid and want their autograph then you must be familiar with their youtube stuff right? And they swear quite a bit in some of their videos. Maybe not their Israphel stuff though, can't remember. That is their main thing though.

It would be very funny, but I just like Internet soap operas. There's probably a list of stages for this stuff. First you participate, then you avoid, then you consume as entertainment.

Isn't one of the reasons Minecraft is so successful the fact that they *didn't* do what someone who 'knows how to run a company' would do?

I don't think that was necessarily the issue, moreso that they were telling kids things like "Fuck off you little shit." etc.

Wow really? Who is saying they said that? Pretty horrible if true and doesn't sound a thing like them, like not even something they would say jokingly.
Simon and Lewis swear a ton in their videos, if someone is a fan of Yogscast they would probably know they have a non PG vocabulary. One that I know has appeared often is Simon's "See ya later shitlord!" which is hilarious every time I hear it.

I hate how people are judging with out hearing the other side of the story, has Notch even seen the Yogcast, they swear all the time, if he didn't want them to swear he could have informed them. On top of that, the con was in Las Vegas, I'm pretty sure children hearing the word fuck should be the least of his worries considering there are strip clubs, brothels and drunk ass holes all over the place. When I was in Middle School I've heard far worse every day. One kid even came up to me and said he wanted to eat mash potatoes out of the dimples on my ass.

He can't control what sort of language the Yogcast uses, nor can he close down every strip club in Vegas for his convention. Also, using the excuses "Kids hear that every day at school" is poor reasoning, at least IMO.
He can, however, refuse to allow someone like that to attend his convention and say "fuck off" to little kids.
I do agree with some of the others in the thread, that the whole situation would have been better served if he had tried to talk with them privately before throwing his comments out on twitter.

Looks like 70% of the people in this thread have already passed judgement because 'Notch said so'. This is like the Telltale Jeep-gate.

Just seen this hilarious mod on r/minecraft (which is swamped in the drama right now):
No one said they said that phrase exactly, I'm just saying the way Notch was Tweeting, that's what kind of stuff it sounded to me like they were saying. It wasn't just saying "Fuck, I dropped a pen." in front of them, it was actually insulting them.
For the record. I'm not actually going to jump on either side of this since we only have one side of the story. However, I will be highly suspicious if Yogscast does not comment even when they have the chance to.

I think it'll be a good 12 hours still to go. They might have additional traveling to do back in England and I sure hope they decide to sleep a few hours if they didn't on the plane. I sort of get the feeling Notch might wish he had too

As a fan of Simon and Lewis' (and Hannah's) videos, I think this is just a case of misinterpreting dry British sarcasm as serious "egotism". This does not sound like them to me. I could easily be wrong, but I had a short, casual back-and-forth with Hannah elsewhere, and she couldn't have been more personable and polite. And this was on an anonymous internet forum, where rudeness is more tolerated. These allocations seem pretty out of character.
And this attitude in this thread of "Notch said it, it must be 100% true. No way is he in any measure inaccurate in his claims. Fuck those guys!", in some cases from people who have never HEARD of Yogscast, is really depressing. They are not in any way malicious, in my experience.
The only way I can see this being true is if they flew out there thinking Notch would reimburse them for the trip and lodging (which is standard practice for even well known, wealthy actors at big conventions like Comic-Con, and for gaming press for events like E3), Notch declining after they paid for it, and them acting immaturely in protest.
I'll reserve judgment until they post their response, but until then, I'm thinking this is another case of Marcus "one-to-two week vacation literally every other month" Persson acting unprofessionally. I could very well be horribly, horribly wrong, but I REALLY hope hot.

That had crossed my mind too. I watch enough British TV to know how sarcastic they can be. And while they don't mean to, they can come off abrasive to certain other peoples. I dunno. I want to reserve any judgement until all sides have spoken.
Such drama. I haven't even been to Reddit. I hate to see the battlefield that currently occupies /minecraft.

it really is their sense of humor tho, that's why i find them so funny. i'm not even into games like minecraft (i need a quest of some sort), but i love the yogscast

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
The main Yogscast guy, who I'll name 'Mr Silly Voice' that keeps just spouting endless nonsense until he hits something funny always struck me as a super-diva waiting to happen with e-fame and thus none of this surprises me.
What's worse is that he did so while they were on a plane and couldn't defend themselves.
That's really weak of him to do.
If Notch was an Aussie this would never have happened. In fact he probably would have scribbled a dick on what that kid asked him to sign.
