Guess Atlus USA's next game reveal

Golden Persona 4 please!

Calling it to be Golden Persona 4. I think Growlanser fans are Atlus' new punching bag.

Golden Persona 4 and I'll take one to go please.

If it's Golden Persona 4, that would be disappointing. Any Persona game is pretty much a given that it'll be localized now, no?

They're not going to fucking call it "Golden Persona 4" in the US. Don't let Atlus' trolling make you stupid.

Checked my email.
Saw theemail for Gungnir reveal.
Saw the email for 'NEXT next game reveal' saying it starts with G.
Smile.
Saw the email for Game of Thrones reveal.
"Uh oh".

I kind of hope they do but completely independent of this.

This, basically. Though, Game of Thrones is "early 2012" so it's before either of these titles would come out.

For those who have no idea what the hell Growlanser is(which I assume is like 95% of the people here):

So until 2012,

I hope that recycle the same batch of clues.
Masterful trolling, with a glorious payoff.
Gungnir, Growlanser IV, and Devil Survivor 2 in 2012 spanning two effectively dead platforms?
I'm there.

I highly doubt it's Persona 4 Golden. Has Atlus ever announced they are localizing a game before its release?
Devil Survivor 2... which ALSO had the excuse of E3 to do so. I don't think we'll see them announce P4 ahead of the Japanese release short of a major expo like that giving them an excuse (maybe necessity) to do so.

Galactic Fork

A little fluff between the ears never did any harm...
Wow, I love Atlus! They have to go through and use the same exact clues, and announce Growlanser IV. 10 extra points if they use the same 25 pixels.

No, it really doesn't. The name of the game is Persona 4. The US release is going to be called "Persona 4 Gold" or "Persona 4: Golden Edition" or something.
I didn't say MUCH more sense, but "Golden Persona 4" actually sounds correct unlike "The Golden". But yeah, they're much more likely to just fix the use of Gold in the subtitle.

Either way, the game starts with "S" since the Shin Megami Tensei tag will be added for the Western release.

We'll probably see something like: "Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 Gold Edition" or "Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 Gold/en"

Are you guys serious about this, or just messing around?

Wasn't it just announced that Atlus' next game is 'Game of the Thrones', which starts with G? I mean there is dedicated thread for that one too in neogaf.

Game of Thrones was announced a month ago, they were just releasing media.

I thought the Game of Thrones reveal was awhile back. I don't think this new "G" has anything to do with Game of Thrones.

It doesn't.

I am going to do something rare on the forums and make a declarative statement regarding a tease, just to clear some of the confusion I've seen running around.

This is NOT for Game of Thrones. We've already announced that, so go ahead and scratch it off your G-list.

Notably: they did not eliminate GalGun.

I always have images turned off because I'm at work but I just realized we have Crevaniel, Blunteer, and Dixon avatars in here. =o

Is Generations worth a purchase if I can get it for around $20?

I'll most likely buy IV if
when
it's localized, and I'm just curious if any of the other games besides I/IV are worth playing.

Maybe if people find out that some of the same people who worked on Devil Survivor worked on Growlanser, they will give it a look.

I own Growlanser Generations and Hertiage of War on PS2, but I haven't finished any of them yet (yeah, sorry). I heard Heritage is terrible, almost considered one of the worst titles in the franchise. Any vets care to comment on this? I've only played a bit of what was included in the Generations collection, but I've never finished one before. I think my procrastination with the series has to do with the fact that the majority of the titles were never released in the west. I always felt weird playing the ones on Generations because I never played the original.

If I am going to play one it will definitely be the ones on Generations first though. It's definitely a series I want to make time for soon because it feels like shit that I've never given these games a fair/dedicated shot. As far as SRPGs go, my heart is kind of with Vandal Hearts and Ogre Battle/Tactics Ogre. Arc the Lad is pretty up there too with me, but it would be nice for these games to end up being nice surprises.

Sorry to hear that! I hope they (3 in particular) don't keep you from playing the better ones.

Well, lol, what are my choices right now then? Those are like the only 3 Growlanser games, to my knowledge, that have been translated. I'm assuming the reason most people haven't heard about these titles is because they have rarely been localized! I guess you can't blame people for not hearing about these games either if the fan base considers the ones in the west to be the worst offenders.

I think 2 is actually decent, it just isn't a very good representation of what I personally like about the games in the series: being traditional RPGs with towns/dungeons/etc. with SRPG battles. 2 doesn't have that at all, so it feels much more like a standard SRPG. It's good though.

As for what your options are, perhaps in the future your available options will increase if you believe hard enough.

I'm ever the defender of Growlanser II, but it's a fine start. It explains (some of) Growlanser 1's story, and has a solid combat system with very challenging battles, and a good story.

Oh wow, yeah, I like the sounds of actual towns and dungeons with SRPG-like battles instead. I'm sure I'll find shit that I'll dig in the Generations games, at least.

What about Heritage of War? I started that game just to check it out when I got it and it just gave me like the weirdest vibes. The sea creatures coming from the shorelines of whatever, eating people, man, it was such a bizarre atmosphere. lol, it really threw me off to be honest.

I was thinking GrowIV's (hopeful, seemingly inevitable) announcement would be cause to go through III at last, but maybe I'll use that as an excuse to get through Devil Survivor instead. Especially since I'll have my own 3DS to play it on soon enough.

Play the Generations games. They're much better than Heritage of War.

Where are people getting "Golden Persona" from? I think that's really a stretch. (Plus, do we even need a teaser to know that it's coming here?)

Growlanser, I'll wait for you. :D

Neither sounds correct. "Golden Persona 4" is even Engrishier than Persona 4: The Golden and that's already nonsense.
Well, at least Golden is used as a regular adjective rather than just hanging there, though it doesn't really work as a game's TITLE... ah hell, both are stupid names so it's just splitting hairs anyway.

People probably just remembering Golden being in the name for the Persona 4 port and rearranging it to fit that clue, ignoring it's a bad sounding name and that it's a game we not only got before but is an inevitability anyway, so it'd be the most boring game to hint at.
