Dolphin - Emulating Wii and Gamecube Games

so in other words the only way an emulator works is if you have your system physically within a few feet of you?!?!

also in other words,

it's impossible to load my legally purchased discs??

Sweet fucking jesus. 1080p + Rainbow Road +60 fps = mindblowing.

I'm sure some people disagree, but this is how I want the next gen to make shit look. GOd damn.

With that geometry and texture detail, you could probably get that on current gen consoles.

You can't play games on Dolphin directly from disc. You have to use your homebrew Wii to rip them and put the .iso files on your computer.

You definitely could, even on consoles. It's the art direction that really makes it stand out, not the technique. Such a nice display of what art direction can do even with limited technical resources (and on the other hand, how pointless is to use the latest in graphical technologies if you don't have a solid art style backing those up).

I just got my wireless sensor bar, it's the official licensed one from Nintendo, bought it from amazon for 10£.
Can anyone teach me how to wire it with a usb cable or direct me to a link/video tutorial explaining how? I'm not skilful at all in these matters :/
How do I know what voltage is my usb cable? Are they all the same?

I don't think I get full speed all the time. I checked today, and I see slowdowns to 45 fps during the transitions (flying from planet to planet/ flying through a galaxy etc). During the actual levels, I get rates of 50-60 fps, mostly hovering in the 55-60 fps region. I get similar performance at 2.5x as well, so I just left it at 3x.

I am not certain what LLE is. I left most settings at default.

You need LLE so that the music doesn't stop while playing. 50 - 60 sounds more like it, though with LLE it'll go down even more I'm afraid.

So I just looked in the settings, and LLE is not enabled. I am at about 25 stars in and I've lost sound only one time and that was when I died. It stayed silent and I jumped off a platform again and it came back. I'll enable LLE if I start having problems with the sound. Thanks for the info.

Very simple question: if I turn on fullscreen at 1920x1080, then set the internal resolution at auto (multiple of 640x528), what's the resolution set by dolphin? I get more slowdowns than I'd like with this option (with skyward sword), nothing too awful though, so I just wanted to manually set the closest lower native*x one.

if you mean in what resolution it renders, it's x3 of internal. Then it downscales it @ 1080p

Yeah, that was my question, sorry if I wasn't clear enough. Thank you, I'll try to manually set it to 2.5x then, see if my framerate improves without sacrificing quality too much.

I noticed people have stopped putting together easy to follow setup instructions and linking them in the OP. Is there any easy to follow instructions to get the most out of Xenoblade Chronicles?

That can't be. Without LLE the background music stops after the first few minutes. Happens for EVERYONE so far. Soundeffects stay, music is gone.

Great Last Story shots, I will make sure to pick it up when it comes out in Europe.

By the way, anyone had sound issues with Skyward Sword? I have a problem with backgroud music, sometimes it just loops and loops, or two identical tracks are played but they're off-time... not sure I made myself clear though. The music resets when I enter another building or the game decides to change track.
I read that LLE emulation could help but I think it might really slow the framerate down. Any fix for this issue?

Does anyone know how well dolphin runs on a new MacBook Pro? In either Windows or OS X.

Finished Zelda: Skyward Sword yesterday. It was my first playthrough and I played it all on Dolphin. Amazing graphics... I was amazed when I saw
Demise and Link on the water
. Really, really brilliant. But a word of advice for those playing solely on Dolphin: the emulator completely screws the credits after the ending, probably because there's a video playing in the background. I played with solid 30fps all the time, but in the credits if fell down to 12 or so fps. At least the ending was perfect.

What an incredible game. The part where
Fi bids farewell
almost made me cry.

I had the same problem. What fixed it for me was using another sound method (Xsound 2 instead of DirectSound). I also disabled the use of sound to keep the game from being too fast (can't remember the exact name).

Thanks mate, that might actually have fixed it!

I'm sorry for my poor english, it's not my first language. What I meant to say is: disable the option that says "Use sound as a way to keep the game from being too fast". The emulator also states that that one option could cause sound sttutering and/or strange noises.

But what really solved the problem was using Xsound2 as sound method.

I'd like to know this too... Wii U is coming and all, but I see myself coming back to this thread time and again to check out the pretty shots people make...
All I have is a Macbook Pro PC wise, and I seriously doubt it can run these games at 720p...

It runs well enough on any Macbook (2010+, 320m and Intel 3000, from experience of 3 different models), I even had Wind Waker / Twilight Princess going on my Air (bootcamp, not OSX). The only thing is once you unplug it from a power source it downclocks and performance drops miserably.

Does anyone know why my Wiimote is really finnicky? I have a wireless sensor bar, an official wiimote+nunchuck+motion plus

Whenever I aim in zelda it will sometimes fly right to the edge of the screen or do some other random crap :/

The same happened to me and I had to live with it. The only solution I found was pressing the Home button, staying there for a while and then coming back to the game. It's really weird, I thought I was having an interference of some sort (my keyboard and mouse are wireless too), but I think it's Dolphin's fault. Try putting the wiimote on a flat position for a couple seconds, that helped too.

It just needs a bit of polish for a real HD version ... Impressive. Can this be played with a classic controller or do you need the Wiimote? (I'm not a fan of the Wiimote at all, I don't think I'd have played Xenoblade for more than 100 hours with a Wiimote ...)

So I ordered the bluetooth USB adapter from Deal Extreme per a Gaffer's recommendation, but I'm having trouble tracking my shipment. It says the status is "Full shipment" as of the 16th, but I have yet to receive an actual tracking number.

Which one did you get? I recently tried RE0 in Dolphin and holy mother of fuck, the sharpness just blows my fucking mind. It sold me on using Dolphin for Wii/GC games, as it hits a level of HD my TV fails to hit with occasional pixel flickering.

I've been tampering by using my PS3 controller to emulate a GC one, and it works quite well. Wii however...seems like I should just use an actual controller. No way can a PS3 controller mimic the Wii well.

Hi guys. So I tried to play twilight princess on my wii and I can't stand it. It looks hooooooooooorible.

I know you guys had some success emulating it, right? Can anyone link me to the config settings for the wii? I'm going to order all the parts necessary and hack my girl's wii so I can get this done.

Thanks!

The ingame option. It's so you can use the analog stick to aim instead of the pointer.

You need to use DX9 rendered for the map to work, and set EFB Copies (under hacks) to RAM instead of Texture. That should fix the map.

Bloom I don't know. It's not too bad for me, but its quite temperamental and sometimes does the 'doubling' effect. It never really bothered me though and only seems to happen in some instances.

Yeah. Every couple weeks I gaze at these shots longingly and go "Someday!!" Probably within the next month, if all goes well. >_<
