Unless it's in a sexual context, I really fail to see how that can translate to pedophilia.

I mean shouldn't we stop pedophiles from playing the game even if they enjoy it to prevent a situation where their nature gets the better of them. They can be in context 9/10 times but it's that 1/10th of the time that a child's life is ruined (even large groups of children if they attack at a convention).

Seriously... it's like drunk driving. If we wait for people to kill someone while DUI to punish them rather than getting them before they kill someone then we are intervening after irreparable damage is done. Allowing adults to play Pokémon is like saying it's ok to kill people while driving drunk!

Handhelds in the game industry are an abomination. I'm not so content-deprived that I need a fucking gaming experience in my pocket, that just makes people look like damned video game junkies. Use the resources put into this market to, y'know, stop making the console market suck so hard!

Try gaming on a console when the TV set's all tied up.

Plus, there are lots of games you can't find on consoles that you can only find on handhelds.

Half Life 3 won't live up to gamers expectations and it will be just like when Duke Nukem Forever came out. You're glad it finally came out but it feels like a last-gen game.

Turok (the 2008 one) is one of the most badass and intense FPSes this gen.

Keyboard and mouse for FPSes gets too much praise. Oh, it's easier to aim with a mouse? Big fucking deal.

Fighting games stopped being fun for the general public somewhere around Tekken 2.

I don't see the point of any new Zelda games if Link is going to keep doing the same shit over and over again.

I think asymmetric gameplay is going to cause people to hate the Wii U.

Isn't aiming a big part of shooting? So isn't it a big deal?

Not that I play on pc that much.

How is that any different than talking about Donald Duck/Mickey Mouse/Bugs Bunny/etc with a child?

There are some legitimately great stories set in the Duck universe though, mainly the ones written by Don Rosa (who more or less wrote as much for adults as for kids). The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck is easily one of the best comics I've ever read.

Also, the series where Scrooge returns to his family castle as an old man, to look for the Templar treasure hidden by one of his ancestors is great. Always found the end to be very touching, where Scrooge reconciles with his sister after having lost contact with her decades ago, and admits to her that he doesn't really care about the monetary value of the contents of his money bin, but about the memories tied to how he earned his money, and how he always felt Donald was a far richer man than himself, as Donald had something Scrooge could never have; a family of his own.

Now I want a game based on Don Rosa's stories.

Microsoft is only in front of Sony this generation in console sales, because they count RROD machines as new machines.
Am I doing it right? ;o)

Nintendo can ONLY make Mario and Zelda games.. and they cannot get rid of the kid image.

For the cost of two jobs, you can get a PS3 and a Sony 3D TV that lets two people use the same TV at the same time. Problem solved. If you get 5 more jobs then you can connect a Gaming PC and then play games you play any games you own (FROM ANY PLATFORM) the physical copy of or downloaded on Steam. You don't have to be mobile to enjoy the best of all gaming.... you just have to work hard and since hard work it its own reward and you get to play games, it's like having your cake and eating it too.

Microsoft have done horribly this gen, relative to the amazing boosts they've enjoyed.

They released early, gaining a year of sales on their competition, against an overpriced competitor with a difficult-to-code-for infrastructure and so became the lead platform for HD games, where the majority of studios spent their best talent and money. They were the de facto shooter box when shooters went massively mainstream.

And yet... they were beaten in this generation by a low powered, highly profitable competitor (sales/profit/whatever), and are about even with their direct competitor worldwide once you account for the year of free sales. They dominate North America, and therefore mindshare amongst the Live using 25-35 year old videogames hack crowd, yet they are nowhere in Japan, and scarcely relevant (outside of the UK) in Europe.

But for all of this success they had to instigate a massively expensive hardware warranty, and massively expensive research, development and marketing on an eyetoy upgrade of dubious future utility. They are even discrediting their trump card, the Live userbase, through denial and awful customer service in the face of what seems to be a growing (and unchecked) fraud problem.

With 1 competitor plowing their own furrow, and the other jamming the self destruct button, you would think they would be dominating this generation. Their performance, it has to be said, is lacklustre.

Agreed about Majora's Mask, never like getting stressed out when playing games.

GTA IV felt like a pretty shit game for me. Sure the city was nice and all but I thought the story was pretty bad. Both the guy and the cars handled like shit by the way.

Also, after having Xenoblade hyped up for me it turned out to be... just another jRPG.

Other than Zelda and Mario, for the most part, Nintendo are crap.

EDIT: Damn, guy a little above said the same thing, oh well.

I've never 'got' Nintendo.

I've never owned a Nintendo console and the vast majority of their games hold no appeal for me personally.

I did like Metroid Prime a lot though (played on a friends GCN), so there is always an exception to the rule.

Not when I can use both control methods (dual analog and KB+M) just fine. They both just lend themselves to different shooting experiences, but the more zealous PC gamers tend to think the mouse makes the actual game experience better, which it doesn't.

I actually took a Comics & Animations class last fall, and my professor was in love with the Duck universe comics. We had to read a lot of Barks and Rosa's stories; including The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck. So, I definitely agree with you there. Sadly I doubt the average American kid would know about those comics.

And yes a game based on the Duck universe comics would be amazing.

KB+M does make it better, but maybe some people like imprecise aiming.

For some reason Rosa is virtually unknown in his native US, while Europe loves his Duck comics. Not sure, but aren't the Duck comics far less popular in the US than Mickey comics are? With Europe being the complete opposite; no one gives a shit about Mickey, everone loves Donald.

Team Fortress 2 was a better game before the class updates.

Character customization sucks, especially in fighting games.

Virtua Fighter is not that hard.

I disagree with this. And I am far from a hardcore PC gamer, the whole "master race" thing is obnoxious, however, I feel a far greater correlation from my movement to in-game actions, which is empowering. Feeling any amount of auto-aim is really unpleasant for me, it feels like cheating, as if the game doesn't trust me to play it correctly.

Oh I've no interest in frame data myself it's just whenever I've gone to any fighting game forum and I look up a topic on a character in hopes of getting better I would see nothing but post discussing frame data. Really turned me off from fighting games.
Frame data, hitbox data, et. all can definitely be useful, but if you don't want to bother with any of that you don't have to.

I mean right off the top of my head I can immediately think of a certain tournament player who places pretty decently and has no interest in frame data bull like you do.

I agree KB+M is better for FPS in terms of aim, but in terms of just chilling out in a single player story mode? Controller is more comfortable and I am not competing so who cares? Eventually my back hurts from arching over a keyboard for a PC FPS, but I can just plug the 360 pad in and play laying down from my bed. Even just the position your hands have to take to hold them over keys is more prone to wrist strain than the position a controller puts them in.

Oh yeah, I forgot: Halo did so much to ruin FPS design for years to come that I seriously wish it had never been made. And I love the original game! I just hate the design choices it brought to the table, choices which stupid developers later decided needed to be the standard for almost every later FPS.

People want to keep pretending Nintendo can't make new games or IPs, it makes them happier to keep themselves in such a delusion where things don't change.

PS3 Boomarang controller would have been good.

Mega Man X9 should star Frank West.

And yes a game based on the Duck universe comics would be amazing.

I would gladly give up someone's soul for a Sly Cooper like Scrooge McDuck game. My favourite comic universe, despite the recent forced "Duck Tales", and could easily be my favourite game if it held true and honoured them.

Disney comics in general are pretty much nonexistant here. You're more likely to see Archie and Sonic ones than them. On the few times I can recall seeing a Disney comic it was usually a Mickey comic though.

Metroid Prime bored me to tears. And I was so excited to finally give it a spin after buying the Trilogy edition :/

Yup, this is ban worthy.

I don't the the ban-worthiness.

Hahaha, I should have prefaced it as "this is not the "ban-worthy comment". I'm not going to say, I don't think it has a place here.

I agree with this. Burning garbage is really satisfying and relaxing, it also has moments where you burn certain items and it is truly awesome/exciting. You also feel a great sense of accomplishment after burning up all that garbage. So, yea I agree!

Frank West as a boss; Journalist Man. Attacks by shooting flashes at you from his camera.

Also, a Duck game based on Rosa and Barks stories.. I'd give up a testicle for that.

Archie (the comic) is still around? I remember reading it as a kid back in the 80s. Felt like every story was a rehash of the last one  I sort of liked the guy who always wore a crown and constantly craved hamburgers.

This is a strange one. Why do you care about the influence a game had on 'stupid developers'? Did you plan to buy the games stupid developers make?

Final Fantasy XIII is one of my favourite games this gen.

I can't stand Metroid.

Don't like any sandbox games.

I've never liked any main Mario games after Super Mario 64 (most of the spin-offs are great).

The Wii has been my most played system this gen.

There won't be another plataform game like Super Mario World.

There won't be another survival horror like Resi original trilogy.

There won't be another great jrpg like PS1' FF trilogy.

GTA games sucks except for the third one.

GT games stinks. Good racing games begins with 3 letters/acronysm: NFS.

GTP 5 is better than GT5? This is absolutely correctemundo. Nobody can argue against that. Nobody.
