I'm gonna play FFMQ on the SNES!
I may or may not nab it off of the Virtual Console.

I want to repost some thoughts (with additions) on FF1 NES (only one I've beaten thus far):
Clearly a lot of effort went into the original production. As soon as you start the game up you can tell it's a massive leap from Dragon Quest. The edges of land are no longer square. You partially disappear into forests when stridng through them. Walking into townspeople pushes them away. I guess the developers also got pissed in DQII when an NPC would block your path for ages. Holding A would select the default options for everyone in battle, to avoid the annoyance of mashing the button in Dragon Quest just to get everyone to "fight".
The little things mattered to the development team. They really wanted to one-up Dragon Quest in every way. And even Dragon Quest 3 doesn't take many lessons from this, making it an inferior game.
Don't even get me started on the battle system, which was lightyears ahead of its contemporaries.
And that intro scene after the bridge goes up....Goddamn.
Most of the FF titles are discounted on the EU PSN store, so I'm thinking about picking a couple up. However, I've heard about loading problems and blurriness?
FFIII is a bit of an awkward game no matter how you play it. I personally much prefer the DS version but Aeana is the exact opposite; the two versions are mechanically similar but balanced very differently in ways that have both ups and downs.
FFIV is fantastic; it completely revamps the mechanics of the original and replaces a ton of mechanical flatness with a great set of new systems devised by Itou himself. I adore it and recommend it unambiguously. (It is also -- compared to the FF baseline at least -- hard as balls, so prepare yourself if you do play it.)
Well it still uses the same archaic battle system as DQ2...DQ3 is inferior to FF1?
??????????
EDIT: Okay, I don't want to turn this thread into a debate about that, so let's not do that.

that just leaves me to find a way to play through 5. as long as the psx version's loading times aren't horrendous
Well, about that... ;_;
Well, about that... ;_;
Awesome.
The "version of FF1 to play" is the version from FF Origins (which maintains the original gameplay, minus a few fixes), but unfortunately it's not available on PSN in the US. I find the pixel art in the GBA version more attractive but either version will do you fine.
are they really that bad?
? It's available for 10$ on PSN.
I just looooove fightin' those Y Burns with Salsa in my party, don't you?The loading in the PS1 version of V isn't that bad. It's the translation that ruins that version.
Letting a friend play through the PlayStation versions of the SNES Final Fantasies is worse than pissing on their mother's grave.
What! I was told otherwise! People should definitely play that version of FF1 then.
Friends don't let friends play as Butz.
From my phone :
Yeah apparently it just came out, or... something?
Well it still uses the same archaic battle system as DQ2...
I'll jump into this, don't know which one I will play either X-2 or VIII. I really like to play X-2 after just beating X the first time 6 months ago, but I keep hearing horror stories on the story aspect of X-2 and then I turn it on to witness maybe the worse cut-scene ever. Why is Yuna in a pop-band? So I stopped after maybe 3 hours of playing it. Does the story ever get good in X-2? Is it worth playing X-2 besides the battle system?
Ok Well since XIII-2 is coming out real soon. I may decide to start streaming XIII first and see if I can finish it before then.
What websites do you guys use to stream?

Twitch.tv is a good one to go with I think.
