Playstation Vita western launch thread | It only does everything, everywhere.

I had to look back at what this started from, but I can see where he's coming from. Hardware launches are exciting, but sometimes people let the excitement get to them to the point where they start making irrational decisions. Heck, I've been telling people for weeks that it's silly to preorder games at full price because we all know many of those same people will find out there is a sale and complain that they already ordered them. Sure enough, there are two sales that give you at least 33% off games. How many people picked up games before they even had a system only to find out they're on sale for a significant price reduction? If people want to burn away their money that's fine, but least admit that they're burning cash and send some of that this way if they have extra money to burn.
Thanks. This is how I feel about it as well.

My PS Vita is at home, waiting on my porch. 1 more hour. Work will surely feel like 33.5 hours.

Kinda nervous about checking it out. A lot of dead pixel/frozen screens/failing to power up/games not loading talk going on here and other boards.

Who are we to tell people not to get excited about what makes them excited? That's being a hypocrite and a negative Nancy. I say let people have their fun.

Love this thing! Got HSG digital loaded onto it and played a round. Looks very grainy (poor filtering?) but the characters looks great. I <3 HSG. Now I'm loading the rest of my digital purchases onto it (including free MJ) and then do some more gaming. Hurray, the day is here!

Heads up to people looking for a FEB, Frys had a stack of 20 sitting around at the Sunnyvale location.

That's close to where i'm now. The web browser is not too bad. Keyboard layout takes getting used to, but word completion is a winner (better than iOS). Still need just a weebit polish in auto sizing the text edit field, and dragging caret across text.

I have a question for those of you that already have the system. It continues downloads while playing a game correct? I have Golden Abyss on cart but i plan to pick up a bunch of games today digitally.

Yes.
I'm not sure what happens in those games that turn off the network stuff though.

But playing HSG and demos and stuff, the download continues.

Golden Abyss turns off the network so it stops downloading things. I found that out the hard way.

uncharted = awesome

shooting is going to take some getting use to though

Played the demo and the gyroscope aiming immediately clicked with me. Love it. A friend of mine.....not so much. He felt the need to hold the system up eye level to use the aim and was swinging his whole body around lol.

When did I or Marty tell someone not to get excited about something?

When you started to look at their behavior as irrational and nonsensical.

See: FEB buyers and buying a a lot of lunch games posts for practical examples.

I'm trying to make peace but they won't stop. Please:

Truce!! Truce!! I yield!!

So now voicing my opinion is the same as telling others not to get excited? Is it really that inflammatory of an opinion to think that there isn't much reason to pick up the FEB unless you can't wait another week or that picking up 11 games for a system at launch is a little crazy?

These are just my opinions. I have nothing against anyone who buys every Vita launch game or picks up 10 FEB's. In fact, I'd be kind of jealous of them! Seriously, I'm not that hard to get along with...

At this point you guys should just stop responding to each other and call a truce.
I have no problem with someone disagreeing with me or someone telling me that I'm being overly pessimistic or whatever. What I do have a problem with, however, is when someone digs up a bunch of my old posts (from other threads, even) in some crazy attempt to prove to me and others that I'm overly negative on the Vita, especially when some of those posts are taken out of context in an attempt to prove such a thing.

I tend to avoid arguments here on NeoGAF but thehypocrite is making that very difficult for me at the moment. He's making things personal for some reason.

Who said not to get excited? Some of us are just calling out the irrational decision making. I'm super duper excited about getting the Vita, but man in my old age now (35 god I'm a relic), I think I've wised up over time.

I was the type of person who drove two hours to get an import copy of Zone of Enders just to play the demo of Metal Gear Solid 2. I'm the type of person who lined up in Japan in the crazy lines to get Dragon Quest 7. I'm the type of person who went to Japan at the launch of the GameCube in order to be the first to get it. I'm the type of person who imported a PS1, PS2, N64, PSP, GBA, and other systems in order to have it first. I know and understand the excitement, but I also knew I was throwing away money. With the launch of the Vita, I'm probably going to get 6 to 8 games which I'm trying to scale back because it's unrealistic I'm going to devote time to all of those games but I'm excited for it.

I've just decided despite my excitement, I don't want to light up $120 on fire just because I can't wait a mere 7 days to get a Vita. That $120 is 4 Vita games. It's not like the Vita is the only system I have. I have other games that I can play while waiting that extra 7 days; specifically Resident Evil is on my plate at the moment. Trust me, I get the excitement, I just don't think it's a rational thing to do. That doesn't mean people shouldn't do it but at least own up to it.

Doom and gloom is bumming me out.
Lets just be happy and celebrate the Vita-ness in this thread. People can go talk about the end of the world in the sales numbers threads and stuff.

One of my favourite game systems of all time was a failed console.

Yeah, well, I'm having second thoughts. I really want a system to be future-proof, I love my PSP, I would be really down if I had to buy 3DS now to enjoy all the good games coming, as 3DS doesn't do it for me, and the graphics are so bad. >.<

Oh well, time to torture myself until Monday-Tuesday when Amazon will charge my card.

UPS tracking is down. I'm about to take lunch, but don't want to drop by my house unless it's there. Gah, what a time to fail, UPS.

Virtua Tennis 4 is a surprise must own for me. Out of the lot I have, it is by far the smoothest, cleanest....dare I say best looking game. Plays like VT. Fantastic game.

If you have a Vita, and the means....GET IT. NOW

There's a learning curve to it that some people adjust to more easily than others. It's certainly a lot more manageable than 3DS gyro aiming due to the light weight of the system and the absence of 3D visual disconnect and an upper screen tilting a zillion different angles.

Has lockerz shipped anything for anyone? I "pre-ordered" virtual tennis over a week ago as it released yesterday. Was hoping for a shipping confirmation by now.

Also, how do i even cancel an order?

Played FIFA today. Loved it! Another to add to my pre-order then.

Not a big soccer guy at all, but the Fifa series is pretty awesome. I only played around with it for about 5 minutes so far, I absolutely love what they've done with the touch controls. Now give me NHL.

I loved VT: World Tour on the PSP so this is definitely one that I'm considering... It looks like a good choice for the B2G1 deal at Target, actually.

So has anyone picked up Dynasty Warriors Next?

I really want some impressions from another Musou fan.

I don't think it is out till next Wednesday. I'd like to see more about this game and Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus. Look like good candidates for B2G1 promotion.

Oh. Well I guess I need to be more patient. Thanks :)

$300 isn't something to agonize over in my opinion.
I've spent way more money on way worse things.

Just let it go and enjoy it.
I mean... unless that money means you don't get to eat for a month or something.

The memory card: UPS

FEB: FedEx

Winner?

UPS Delivered at 11AM (and he came from a city 30 min away)

FedEx still out for delivery (coming from a city 10 min away)

Please stop posting BS. You need to look in the mirror or leave planet earth.

You may have a Vita preorder, but you seem to be overly pessimistic about it. You have doubts (IMO) if you're making the "correct" choice in buying the Vita and seem too negative for it.

Take a break.

If that's how you react to people with contrary opinions, you're not going to last very long. I share the majority of his opinions too. It's not being pessimistic, it's called being realistic.

So what games is everyone picking up. I'm literally 90% over the fence on getting one, because of the Target deal, but I can't justify any games besides Uncharted and Wipeout.

Are there any reviews for Mortal Kombat yet? Is Fifa basically 2012 the console version?

Is the First Edition Bundle actually purchaseable? I might buy one today if that's the case...
I asked at the Best Buy where I picked up mine, and they said they had three extra FEBs (not reservered)... that was at 10:00 a.m. - I saw maybe 20 or so FEBs on reserve in the system cage...

I've had plenty of arguments with Marty over the years, but he's 100% right in that post.
?? The sales of which he speaks don't start for four days, and are only at Target (which may not be local to you or me)... his sweeping generalizations are ridiculous.

Seriously! After seeing it out for delivery this morning, I haven't been able to check on it since. Come on UPS! Here's to hoping it's there, when I get home, in 3.5 hours...

I was MAJORLY addicted to 'Sega Sports Tennis' on PS2. Seeing that VT4 is also made by Sega, does it play similarly? If so, I'm in!
