Man, every console FPS needs to use the sixaxis gyro controls for precise aiming.

Uncharted aiming feels so good with it.

I know it came from Killzone 2 as well.

Dear GAF,

Help me pick one game to go with my 3g/wifi vita:
- BlazBlue
- UMVC3
- Hot Shots Golf
- FIFA

So hard >< I'm leaning towards BlazBlue but I'm worried about the learning curve but I do see possible long replay value to keep me entertained until Gravity Rush. HELP!

Hot Shots has a lot of unlockable stuff. I'm not sure what's there in the fighting games. I would get the fighting games if you're a fighting game fan.

Hot Shots Golf would be the no-brainer for me, loved to earlier versions on PSP and PS3 - fantastic portable entertainment in my book

Near must be exactly what Sony was looking for. Today alone, I have had 10 friend requests and played a round of Hot Shots with a few of them.

The learning curve in BB is pretty high, IMO, but if you think you can put in the time to learn the game I'm sure it and its multiplayer will last you quite awhile. Same with UMvC3, although the latter has a less steep learning curve.

Can't comment on FIFA so Hot Shots Golf might be your best bet though.

Is near using the gps or is it based on your ip address? This sounds like a badass feature to find new gamers around you or new friends(hopefully noone scary:p)

I love Hot Shots, so it gets my vote. BlazBlue and UMvC3 are good games, but I have a nice TE stick at home so it would feel wasteful to be playing on a handheld.

On the other hand, if you're a pad player, the Vita games would be great since it puts you on a level field with other players. I prefer BlazBlue to UMvC3, but it's up to you.

Gen X

Trust no one. Eat steaks.
PS3 and PSP were like that too. On PS3 you could at least have multiple accounts from different regions, so you could play games and stuff from other regions with your main account. DLC has always been tied to the region you downloaded the game for; at least on PS3. So an AU DLC needed AU game to be played; but you coud play them on a US account. Except for online passes, which are region locked too; and in that case the account also needed to be from the same region.

Not sure if it applies to Online Passes, but I'm pretty sure the you can group all PAL countries together. IE: My main account is a UK one but I live in NZ. All DLC I've bought on my UK account has worked on games I've bought from NZ.

Anyone who lives in NZ or Aussie is much wiser having a UK account purely for the content. Sure, you have to buy your PSN Money online from a website but there is so much more variety than in our local PSN stores.

Is there a way to send friend request right from the near app? Don't really want to write down everyone's names and add them individually.

The Phoenix Wright fanboy in me had to get UMvC3. I'd normally prefer playing it with a stick but it's not on PC and I no longer have consoles.

Ya, when someones name shows up on the map around you just tap on their name then tap on their icon and it should be an option in a long list of stuff about that person.

I don't see that. All I see is their list of games played. Am I in the wrong place?

I just clicked one of those categories to bring up a map. Is there a different map I'm supposed to be using?

I had asked a bunch of people who randomly added me in the HSG lobby. I asked if they were gaf.

They said "What?" so I removed them.

On that game list screen, tap their Avatar.

Can someone PLEEASE! Tell me how to get my screen to stop shutting off every 5 seconds.

It is honestly the most annoying thing on the psvita.

There's probably a break-in period for the screen, I'm guessing?

Are you saying the patterns will recede or dissipate with continued use of the screens?

In any case, it initially bummed me out, since I do a lot of gaming at night, in the dark. Now I just have to turn on a low light. After reading about it and asking about it on gaf yesterday, it's a Not a big deal anymore, something I'll just have to accept about oled tech.

I don't know honestly, but I'll just say that in my situation, the pattern just went away. I can go to a pitch black image on the zune hd, and now there is literally no light coming from the screen or pattern whatsoever.

Power saver settings or something like that in the Settings. Most you can set it to is 5 minutes before turning off the screen. Default is 1 minute IIRC.

Is he low tier? :(

Too much effort to put into him to get anything out of him. Also, they nerfed his invincible assists while in Turnabout mode. Last I played UMvC3 on the consoles about two months ago, I rarely saw people use him.

Are there demo units near you ? Can people log with their account there ?

I live in the Philippines, in the middle of the residential district. The nearest store with a Vita is probably outside that radius. Also, no demo units :D

on Uncharted.

1 - Why is reload on the top right side of the screen? It needs to be bottom right, or bottom left! Any button that you need quick access to shouldn't be placed so far out of reach.

2 - Visually, the game's really impressive. I'd heard talk about how it was very "jaggy"... it's not. I'd say the aliasing looks better than the majority of PS3 games.

Vita in general

Controls - They take some getting used to. Those face buttons are teeny, and I'm not a fan of them and the D-pad being placed above the analogue sticks. On the subject of the D-pad, I'm sure fighting game afficonado's prefer "rocker" D-pads, but I hate 'em. Prefer the PSP's discrete buttons for the D-pad. That said, the one on the Vita ain't bad.

Screen - Glorious. And the most sensitive touch screen I've ever used.

OS: Glorious. Mostly. Near is great as well, I'm not a Facebooky type of person, but I could see leaving comments on my friend's gaming accomplishments and voting on games.

Build quality - Excellent.

Little Deviants demo - Played for 5 minutes, not my thing.

Aslphalt Injection - Ubisoft should be flogged for pricing this and Dungeon Alliance at $30+

PS Store - I understand that it just (kinda) launched, but where are all the categories? Demo's, new releases etc? Other than that, I like it. I'm not fond of the fact that I can no longer read my digital comics, though. I certainly hope that service comes back otherwise all that money's been flushed down the drain.

Lastly, I want to go home and play. 2:30 mins before I get to leave work.

On that second image, if you click the guys avatar icon ( the pumpkin ) it should take you to a list of more options. It took me awhile to find it. Kinda hidden.

If I remember correctly, click on the avatar icon again in the second picture. Practically everything is clickable in Near (which is great !). There are more stuff inside.

That's why I said Near is deep and potentially confusing. I am impressed by the depth but I hope Sony refine the UI a little.

EDIT: Beaten again !

I bought a new PSN avatar just for the sake of livening up my Vita experience. Seeing these Near shots makes me hope more people use their "free" PS Plus avatars for the sake of variety.

Quick question...

Does anyone elses Vita screen seem.... lopsided? I'm looking at it straight on and it seems like the screen is not perfectly straight...

Maybe I'm just crazy.

I was wondering if anybody know the game demos are locked to the account as well?

If all the demos are playable with different account, then I would just go around all the accounts, download all the demos, and end up with my final account if possible

Also, is it possible to put more than 3 accounts in a single memory??

Sorry for the late reply. But I used the PS3. Went to search in PSN store and typed VITA. And bunch of them showed up. You have to browse down to see them all. First few were just random stuff.

This was in US PSN.
Sorry for al the dumb questions, but where do you type in a text search? (I honestly never knew this was even possible.) I couldn't find an option to do that anywhere.

Demos aren't locked.
I have all the Japanese demos on my US account and they play fine.

Top right in the Vita PSN store.

Is it possible to buy new avatars on the PSN via Vita, assuming you can buy new avatars? I rarely use the PSN so I'm quite clueless when it comes to PSN stuff.

Nope :)

I am re-downloading Both God of war's and Modnation.

Wait, I just remembered that I didn't get LBP from Welcome Back either; I don't think it was even an option, lol. It was one of the games I got for free for getting a PSP Go. I knew I had gotten it free somewhere.
