Oh boy. Teddy "Tv" valentine is calling the game tonight. Why him, siiiiiiiiigh.

hip check, BAM! right in front of the camera. watch him emphasize that hip check, right in front of that camera? but you didn't touch the guy? not according to Teddy! BAM! bench warning. BAM BAM - that's another, don't even think about talking about him, or those announcers will be talking all during that commercial break about how your bench is mouthing off enough to warrant a bench warning.

who's in the house? Teddy's in the house.

fuck that shit. him and tony greene need to go away.

So who is starting up a GAF March Madness Pick em? I want in.

Also sorry if old but anyone post the 2 dunks by Kwame Alexander? Nice dunks

GAF march madness I'm assuming will be started the weekend of conference tourney's? or when the bracket first hits. either way, I placed my bet at the MGM Grand sports book back on November 3rd - UK to win it all - $250, 4:1 odds, so I'll make $1000 when we cut the nets down.

Pete Carroll Owns Me
We really can't afford to have Hardaway and Burke on the bench at the same time.

It would also be nice if we would make our fucking bunnies.

I'm still waiting on my college bowl picks ticket I mailed in a month ago to Caesars. Gonna be a nice chunk of change when that thing comes in.

Love teaser cards.

i dont understand "big 10 basketball" - 16-22 with 2:29 left in the first half? reminds me of Wisconsin-Mich St the other night, the halftime score was 19-31 but only because michigan state went on a big run at the end of the half.

is it 'solid defense'? I know OSU's got a good defensive rating, but UK does as well and we go on to score in bunches...it's like every big10 team is fine with a super slow paced game, and will only 'run' when the other team wants to -- see the IU-UK game from december, or when the other team is just...bad (see OSU v. minnesota, purdue).

on the other hand you have like the vandy-ole miss game from the other night. 102-76. or the duke game, heck, 78-73. i just dont get games where both teams are low 50's/60's.

As a Big Ten fan, I honestly think it's reffing. Big Ten teams spend the whole conference season beating the crap out of each other. It's hard to score points when you're doing that. And because half court offense is such a pain in the ass, every team is hellbent on eliminating fast break opportunities to stop the other team from getting easy buckets.

Some teams (Michigan State) translate that style into something that works in March, others don't.

so, UK plays AT miss st on tuesday. in SEC play, miss state is 5-1, losing to UGA the other night. overall they've only lost 3 at home this year - an early season loss to akron, then a post-xmas loss to baylor, + the uga loss.

in SEC play, they are 1-5 on the road, with the one W @ vandy in OT. they just lost tonight at Auburn. They've lost at arkansas, ole miss, florida, and lsu before this.

I'm not sure what to make of this team, except i'm sure they'll play amazing and shoot lights at against us, like all teams tend to do. but they lost at auburn...and now have lost 3 in a row...

Reffing is a huge part of it, and it explains why that shit happens occasionally in the big east as well. When the refs are calling a loose game inside and letting the bigs bang around, it makes it hard to run any decent offense. It's easy to muck up the interior game if bigs aren't getting called for late hedges on screens and holding and bumping. The short 3 point line and the lack of a defensive three second rule in college makes the offensive spacing bad enough as it is..

Also technically speaking in terms of numbers of possessions, UK is slower than a lot of big ten teams not named Wisconsin or Michigan because we take care of the ball and don't defend to get steals. Plus everyone wants to slow us down because no one can run with us. But we are one of the most efficient offenses in the nation in most measurements, so it doesn't feel slow.

Even at a moderately slow pace, it feels faster and more fluid though because the bigs can't get away with bumping and banging every cutter or driver who goes through the lane. This means perimeter defenders can't be as aggressive, and generally increases shot opportunities.

IMO the way the paint is reffed in college games is terrible in almost every aspect. There is no reason why college games should be more physical than NBA games. IMO we should be rewarding intelligent positioning and box out/defensive fundamentals, not just being bigger and beefier than the next guy.

Not sure I've ever felt this bad about a 30 point win before. I knew it was going to be a sloppy game playing Texas Tech at home, but Kansas looked thoroughly uninspired the whole game.

The next 3 games are huge for us. At aTm, home for Mizzou, at Okie State. The first one is a look-ahead game, then mizzou, then a let-down game.

Well at least the 3 point shot fell. But yes, we have to win out to win the big 12 regular season title.

Well...this is certainly interesting, OSU down 7. Not watching the game, but hows Teddy doing with the officiating?

i say OSU wins by 5. 12 minutes left they're down 7, but i can just see this michigan team dropping.

and right as i say that michigan nails a 3...

Hey he made that one big shot that one time, that means he's a clutch shooter! Nevermind him taking (and missing) the last shot in several games including the infamous Kentucky game and then Indiana this season.

He would be a shitty NCAA ref that the NCAA picks to ref in a certain location.

And people are clearly blaming the conferences. Stating that omg i wish i was in the Big XII since these BE refs are so bad. When in reality, every conference has shit refs, everybody complains, and it is the NCAA doing the selection and cutting the checks.

No one is saying shit about the conferences, it's simply a reference to the group of officials that do mostly ONE CONFERENCE. Maybe they do others, but the BEAST crew is mostly Higgins and Burr. Refs like Hightower and Valentine do Big Ten games.

It has no relation to bitching about the conference, so please shut the fuck up about it, because no one is saying that.

Took me about 2 minutes to realize who you were with the radical avatar change...

I wasted far more than that going to the 06 bcs champ game. Not sure I was more depressed that night, or when I got the bill from that trip.

I almost went to that one - had the flight booked and everything - but I couldn't get a ticket to the game.

Thank you sweet baby Jesus for that one.
