You have to stop doing this, man. Don't compare this to the earliest of RR games from the 90's. It's called relative progress. Stacking RR Vita up with it's contemporaries, even on the handheld market makes it an embarrassing rip no matter how cheap it is, and it ain't cheap, at all.

We should just go back and compare it to the first Ridge Racer, it'll make the Vita version even more awesome!!!

So weird that it's done this way. Guess its done to avoid multiple downloads?! No clue. Thanks everyone for the help. Stupid online pass.

Yeah, I freaked out when I entered the code in and went back to Hot Shots. It said I still had to get a pass, so I was searching everywhere to make sure it was actually redeemed. Turned out that I had to restart the game.

My Uncharted got here just fine.
Congrats. Yeah I've seen youtube videos and images where people have redeemed for stuff. A lot of times from accounts that have only 1 video and with account names like "LockerzIsLegit", funny eh? They have to let some people redeem or they'd be under quick. Just saying there's a lot of stories out there of people not being treated fairly, there are entire sites devoted to debunking lockerz. I want to see people being careful, that's all.

I ordered 4 3DS games from them so far, 2 during the holidays including Mario 3DS for $19.99. And I've received them all. I've also received all of my accessories so far for the Vita.

I just spent $100 on various PSP games now that the US store is up, I honestly fear the day all psp/ps1 games are compatible because I will spend so much money.

I wish square would release kingdom hearts on psn though, it is my 'must play' psp game but it looks like I'll never get the chance :/

That's a good discount. Well I'm going to look into it more thoroughly on my own now, thanks to the positive stories from my fellow GAFers. They do have some good items in their store.

Just impulsively decided to downgrade my preorder to a wifi only vita. fuck it. don't want to be forced to wait 30 days to be able to download Super Stardust.

Now I gotta go find a memory card today since Amazon is sold out.

Hold on, we have to wait out 30 days after paying the $14.99 to activate the data plan... to get the free game? It's not instant?

If you live in the US - yes. UK customers get it immediately after adding 5GBP to their account.

What was the reason for ATT doing that again?

Not only is the UK 3G unlocked but we get an excellent game within 24 hours rather than a month.

Wednessday truly cannot come soon enough.

Shame I've just finished my run of night shifts really!

Because AT&T is a carrier of choice in the U.S. i.e. "because they can", while EU for being called socialist dinosaur has some pretty good laws, so that corporations wouldn't screw the customers.

So I finally tested it at my local video game retail store, and the console was tightly embedded in the test terminal the handling was a little difficult. I fear that the console isn't really ergonomic, especially when you want to use both of the analog sticks.

One of the things that striked me was the overall size : the console is huge, but so is the screen. Beautiful, huge screen. It contrasts with the small (clickable, that's a change) buttons and the tiny joysticks. I mean, really, they are really really tiny, I can't imagine myself playing for 2 hours straight without having to rest my hands.

I'm disappointed that when you press the PS button it quits the demo instead of merely pausing it, but maybe it's a different story for retail games.

I tested ModNation Racers, I wasn't impressed. The framerate is way too choppy to really appreciate the graphics.

I guess I'll just wait for a game that I really want to buy it (Persona 4 The Golden yeaah).

It is cheap in NZD. You realise how much we pay for shit? Uncharted Vita is $90NZD (retail) while it's possible to get Ridge Racer for $33NZD (Granted Retail is $50NZD) from nzgameshop. You telling me that is not cheap?

Not everyone thinks like you. Just because Game X has 16 tracks for $100NZD doesn't mean 6 tracks for a third of the price is a bad deal. I'm pretty sure that the Gold Pass allows for discount on future content as well up to a certain date. There could be 20 tracks by the time everything has been released and it could cost exactly the
same as a full priced retail. Would that still be an embarrassing rip?

And that's a bit rich telling me to stop after your constant posts like these....

People who are paying $100 for 32gb memory card are bigger suckers than First edition bundle buyers.
Here's my rank list of biggest suckers:

3. People who buy $100 32 memory card.
2. People who buy both the FEB and a $100 32gb memory card.
As long as you don't put that into a 32gb memory card.

..and there were more but you get the idea. It's a forum, we're entitled to our opinions but don't get personal. =)

Pressing the PS button just suspends the game. It doesn't quit. Not sure why the demo unit would actually close the game.

You also chose a pretty poor demo to play. >_< I don't know what's loaded onto the demo units but I strongly suggest trying out Gravity Daze, Uncharted, Virtual Tennis 4, and Wipeout.

Nope. They send it to you at the end of your first paid month.

But...

Super Stardust Delta will be available for download at PS Vita’s launch for $9.99. On day one, you’ll also be able to download the Super Stardust Delta “Blast Pack” to pick up four additional game modes including Endless, Impact, Bomber and Twin Gun. The Blast Pack will be available separately on the PlayStation Store for $8.00. You’ll also be able to score the full game and the Blast Pack for just $14.99 if you choose to download them together in the “Interstellar Bundle.”
Am I missing something, or is their "free" offer more expensive than just paying to buy the game with no strings attached?

I was planning on waiting a while before buying a Vita, but last week I got the chance to go to a Sony launch event and there I got an offer to preorder it at a very nice price.

For €299 I'm going to get:
- WiFi+3G Vita
- Vodafone Prepaid card (€12,50)
- 4Gb memory Card
- Starterpack
- 4 Games (Reality Fighters, Little Deviants, Modnation Racers and Uncharted)

Upgrading my Vodafone prepaid card with €20 will also give me Wipeout for free :)
I will use the €5 discount in the starterpack for a discount on Escape Plan.

I bought the original PSP at launch too and I have to admit that I haven't played it as much as I should have, but the main thing where the Vita will be a lot better is in the vast amount of cheaper (mini-)games that are available. I really hope games like Minecraft and Broken Sword will become available soon.

This topic is very bad for my wallet by the way. First I was considering buying only Hot Shots Golf, but now I'm also considering Rayman, Fifa and Gravity Rush :D

I found it weird so after going back to the menu, I tried pressing again on the PS Button, but with no luck, and when I tapped on the ModNation bubble, it reloaded the game all over again...
And even weirder, none of the games you mentionned were in the demo unit. I was sure they would promote Uncharted above all of the games.

The Entertainment Software Rating Board has released their rating summary for the upcoming PS Vita exclusive title, Silent Hill Book of Memories. The survival-horror game received an M (for Mature) rating due to blood, gore, language, suggestive themes and violence. You can check out the latest screens from the game in the slideshow to the left of this article and the full rating summary provided by the ESRB below:

This is a survival horror game in which players control characters whose fates can be altered through a mysterious book. From a 3/4–overhead perspective, players explore various “zones” in a Nightmare World, battling demonic creatures in melee-style combat. Players use axes, shotguns, flamethrowers, and chainsaws to kill nearby enemies and larger bosses. Some weapons result in large splashes of blood and/or scattered body parts; enemies leave behind blood-like “karma puddles” when killed. One cutscene depicts a man getting torn in half by a rock monster. During the course of the game, some dialogue includes suggestive material (e.g., “You're a wh*re,” “That dirty skank,” “he's already got you wrapped around her sl*tty little finger.”). A comic book panel depicts a woman in a revealing outfit; male characters comment about her “leather pants” and “super tight shirt.” The words “sh*t” and “d*ck” appear in dialogue.

Online Notice:

Includes online features that may expose players to unrated user-generated content (PS Vita)

Silent Hill Book of Memories is currently being developed by WayForward Technologies. It will be published by Konami when it launches exclusively for the PS Vita in North America on March 27th.

I have not receive my Vita yet, but can someone tell me did Sony learn anything about updating system or game from the PSP and PS3? Do I still have to take 5 mins to update games or system every time I turn it on?

So excited. My mommy is going to take me out tomorrow to pick up some games from the B2G1 sale and then she'll pick up the Vita for me after work on Wednesday which I'll hopefully be awake from the sedatives by then and I'll be set to play. It's so weird being back home and losing all dependence since you can't drive or do much of anything really. Not a good sign when my doctor and I were talking about my parents getting forgetful and he asked who was going to take care of them because it sure as hell won't be me and that I'll need to be taken care of instead...lmao. So they better know me and my Vita will be getting acquainted all this week! :p

I haven't been this excited for a system launch since the N64 and that says a lot.

Wow, that's lame. Sounds like they need to get a Sony rep in there to add some more demos.

I can confirm that while playing a demo unit today in Eugene, OR at a Gamestop that pushing the PS button took you out of the game back to the menu which was jarring. Has to just be a demo thing. But they did have quite a few games loaded up including Gravity Rush, Uncharted, V Tennis, HS Golf, Wipeout, etc....

(Gravity game looked hawt and I love the kitty)

Hope what you're going through isn't too serious in the long run and you come out of it ok. :)

I too am excited about the Vita, first console I've ever pre ordered and will be only the second console I've bought and picked up on launch day (last was a Dreamcast).

I'm paying for it at least, it's just that she's going to be my chauffeur. Well, actually my old account that my grandma had for me since birth is paying for it but that doesn't count...lol

I can't wait to play The Show on there. That will be the perfect game for me when I'm bored.

Edit: Oh and no, there's no end in sight unless there's a breakthrough in the next few decades.

Quick update:

Unbound Saga works.

However, the Vita doesn't even detect Age of Zombies on the PS3. For some reason I can't sort downloaded PSP games into albums. They just stay in the game tab as separate bubbles.

Wow now that's pretty bad hope they fix it with a warning text for future games since it will be causing alot of confusion.

Plus is it possible to download patches to games that are bought outside of the European region?

So I recently got a bonus at my job and with my first baby and a promotion at work I have not been able to play Console/PC gaming like I'm used (trying to play Skyrim in random 20 minute slots of time was painful) and it has become clear that portable gaming is going to be my primary gaming for the foreseeable future.

So for weeks I've been deliberating between the 3DS and the Vita. So I finally had decided on the 3DS, I put on my Mario shirt, gathered some trade-in stuff and headed over to gamestop . . . . however once I got there I played them both and I had to go with the Vita.

This portable is going to be my primary gaming machine and I just felt like the Vita filled that role better.

So I came home empty-handed (except for a receipt for my Vita preorder) and would like to let VITA-Gaf know, I am one of you!

You missed that part about Blast Pack being $8.

I didn't think it was important to highlight that part, since it comes cheaper if you buy the game and the pack together. That really only applies to people who already have the game.
I know you're probably joking, but still think it's good to be clear.

It sounds like the only way their promotion is a deal is if you were already planning on subscribing to the service. The fact that you have to wait a month to receive it when you can simply buy it day one is just salt in the wound.

Normally I have strange opinions on things but in this case I am happy to be with the majority.

As awkward as the tiny sticks can be in Uncharted compared to a console experience they are still so far ahead of what I experience playing RE: Revelations on the circle pad. For games like Mario with large sweeping character actions and a focus on analogue control I find the circle pad fine but when it comes to responsive analogue input on a handheld the vita sticks are just so much better.

I like the circle pads, and at the time of launch they were indeed the best ever on a handheld - however, I did have trouble during some boss fights in RE, where my thumb was slipping off, and I had to re-place it on the pad. Really killed momentum for me. Same issue with Zelda at times, especially during the biggoron's trading quest (running non stop around hyrule).

The vita sticks are fucking incredible. No comparison whatsoever.
