Finally saw the video of the skilled player playing a human warrior.

I'm amazed at how much the combat, when played well, resembles something like Fable more than it does other MMOs. Really psyched about it. The game as a whole so far looks to be an MMO with polish near that of a single-player game, really. I may be about as excited for the combat as I am the Dynamic Event System.

Directly into my veins, please.

PS. Norn 4 lyfe

you got a link to the video?

So is there any good speculation when the beta might actually start? My anticipation for this game was close to 0 before this thread (for good reason), the bombardment of videos and info has destroyed that :(

March

Video of a Guardian scaled down from level 30, skip to 9:10

Even for being scaled he starts getting worked, it would probably be quite challenging to do this on level without all of the extra stats/gear.

Didn't want this to get lost in the shuffle;

hopefully there will be an alliance system in case there's many guilds with gaffers.

There's no need for any kind of alliance or alliance system; you can belong to multiple guilds at the same time in GW2 and can switch between them on the fly. You can only represent one at a time for capturing objectives and such, but there's no reason you can't be in a hardcore PVP guild, a friends & family guild and GAF Guild at the same time.

Elixabeth (pls tell me thats not the real spelling) in the latest Guildcast revealed that she found an option in the UI that allowed you to one click your aoes. It basically targets where you have your mouse cursor and instant casts the aoe there once you hit the aoe skill, instead of bringing up the green circle. It works as long as your cursor is over an in-range terrain.

If developers designed a worthwhile mmo maybe we'd stick around!

Yeah. Having a game that doesn't suck tends to help things. :p

I think the GAF guild will work in this game. No factions or PvE and PvP servers to spit us apart. Plus the ability to join more than one guild so people can still have their hardcore guilds they run with if they want.

If you can be in multiple guilds, then I don't really see how a GAF guild would die.

Anyways, I'm ready for this game. I have 50/50 in my Hall of Monuments. I also made up my character names, since that will be a brick wall for me to actually play the game.

Awesome news.... but is it weird that the first thing I think when I read that is that it would make casting AOEs on a console easier? If there was a stationary targeting reticule on-screen and the player changed it's position by using the two analog sticks like a First Person Shooter... could work.

Edit: HOLY SHIT, Quote dat monstrosity, Zero.
Edit 2: That's better. Nice work.

Holy shit. The UI has built in mouseover support?

Not a huge gain compared to double clicking, and I suppose you'd lose the ability to ever use the circle as a range indicator. Nice to have the option but probably not worth it.

Once you get used to the size of each spell's targeting indicator, it would probably become second nature. More options is always a good thing, honestly, even if we never use 'em.

I'm secretly hoping they have a way to change character voices... that yippy female human... dunno how I'm gonna get used to it.

You have no idea how long I've been waiting for Bliz to put Mouseover/smartcasting into WoW so I don't have to keep wasting macros spots for it. >_>;

I might be misunderstanding you but there are no spells that can be cast on a targeted ally, all heals/buffs are some form of aoe.

Can we stop wasting our time with scrub classes and just post warrior skills?

[edit] Not sure why a GAF guild wouldn't work. Yeah, there have been some failures, especially for MMOs which are time consuming and often unbalanced, but there's a lot of really solid GAF gaming communities. TF2 GAF plays together pretty much every day and is growing. Halo GAF, SF GAF, and some others also seem to be really active. I know some GAFfers I'm going to play with on day one, can't wait.

Also hi Retro!

I'm back from work.

Sweet. I mentioned your suggestion to the wife and she wanted to know if, when we all 'group up', do we all put our Beta keys in a bowl and pick them out at random? I think that means she's into it, dude!

This! lol
Though Guardian looks pretty tempting. Creating walls/trapping enemies is sick.

I've been hoping to see somebody drop one of the Ring spells and then have a bunch of people AOE into the center of it and create a Cylinder of Doom.

An unreal looking title.

I'm just so confused by what I'm watching. The ending was very smooth with little hitch. Though to be fair, it was a draw distance shot and wasn't busy. However, all the 360 panning was very janky. These scenes @ 60fps will be mind-blowing. Not sure about these caps though...

Have fun when everyone can basically blind spam and you have the worst condition removal in the game. ;)

You're misunderstanding me. I'm referring to how I'm glad it's in Guild Wars 2 natively for all abilities it applies to. =p
