Posted?

Edit.: It was posted at the Facebook site.

The character looks much better here.

Because it was (likely considering the timings) at the Microsoft Spring Showcase, can we expect some kinect connectivity?

Damn! I really need to catch up with the series. Stopped at AC II, It is a great game unlike AC I which is mediocre.

It is weird that AC:bro (PS3) still didn't drop below $20 in Amazon, I'll probably just buy the PC version for ~$5 in the next Steam summer sale but I really hate Ubi's DRM.

If you really want to reduce it to a dick-measuring contest, the American revolution has plenty of interesting events, factions, etc.

-The Tea Act/The Boston Tea Party
-Loyalists v. Revolutionaries
-"Common Sense" by Thomas Paine
-Women acting as spies and couriers for the Revolution
-Deborah Samson fighting in the war, disguised as a man
-The Battle of Bunker Hill, where something like 800 British soldiers died
-Revolutionaries stealing gunpowder and other supplies from British forts
-Crossing the Delaware on Christmas to fuck some Hessian shit up
-Battle of Saratoga

edit - god damn, that's a cover
We should get a rendition of the star spangled banner in this game

lol, it looks nice but this is literally Ezio just pasted into another scenario.

To a degree, but what else would it be? It's sort of established that Assassins are dudes wearing white. Plus, it doesn't have all the fancy red finery that Ezio had.

Apparently, the full reveal is planned for this time monday, as seen posted on a Ubi rep Facebook right now.

Interesting. Where I'm from we do learn about our History but I think that's because we've always been the "victims" (from the Spanish, British, Americans, etc) but our history is truly boring, being a slave in this period, being a slave in that period, other countries fighting and the winner gets us, etc

I guess that's why they teach us a lot of history from other countries, since ours is really pathetic and boring.

Where are you from?

What's the time difference between the American Revolution and the Civil War? I mean they were pretty close weren't they?

I guess you could say they were "close" in time at least. One was freedom from the Brits (all because of Taxes lol), the other was the US splitting in two "countries", one being pro-slavery, the other being anti-slavery.

oh, i didn't want to turn it into a dick measuring

it's just that my knowledge of the american revolution is like...some people threw tea in the harbor, then there was a bunch of fighting, then the british lost

Roughly 100 years in between. George Washington commanded the Continental Army as General in the Revolutionary War then became the first president; Abraham Lincoln commanded the North as 16th president in the Civil War.

Regardless, they are very different wars with very different impacts.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but both pieces of art so far have the 13-star flag, so my immediate observation would be that the game takes place /during/ the revolution rather than in the run up to it, since the 13 star flag wasn't adopted until 1777.

Also hahaha people actually fell for Neuromancer's post

If you want know more about the time period, you can watch the HBO miniseries "John Adams."

I can take place in both, the start of the game could be the lead up to the war and the rest of the game takes place during it.

Holy moly. Hoping it will revamp the formula a bit, I've only played 2 hours of Revelations and it's starting to feel stale.

Since when is a stalemate a loss?

This is America man! To win, it's gotta be decisive!

Honestly though, regarding us not talking much about the wars we didn't decisively win...we talk about it, just not NEARLY as much as others. At least in yee-haw Oklahoma public schools we didn't.

Consider for a drop in ego, maybe. It's still not a loss.

I just mean that sometimes one gets more out a stalemate than the other ;)

But yes technically you're obviously right.

To a degree, but what else would it be? It's sort of established that Assassins are dudes wearing white. Plus, it doesn't have all the fancy red finery that Ezio had.
Yeah I know, it's just the pose, look of the upper body etc. Sure it makes sense cause it's an Assassin's Creed but sometimes you'd wish they'd be a little more bold.

I still wonder though how they'll implement the close combat into this scenario. Didn't people start to have revolvers back then?

Nothing from GameInformer? Figured they would have the official character reveal to go along with this art surfacing.

You have people in here genuinely confusing the American Revolution for the Civil War, so not really difficult to "fall" for. :~(

Because it's easier to say and no one is confused by what you mean when you say you're American?

No it isn't. Gameplay is becoming stale in the series, a change-up should be good for it. The first AC didn't have amazing architecture either, so I don't see why people really care.

Don't be stupid.Of course the setting of the game and the architecture is a big part of the game. It may not have been as important in the first game but it was in the 3 games that followed. I agree the gameplay needs work but that doesn't mean everything else has to suffer, especially aspects that define the game (the setting and free running).

Badass cover though, looking forward to getting more info.

well, if you consider that before the world cup the british media was saying how easy it was going to be for us to walk out of the group stages with only shitty teams like the USA to beat, the schadenfreude of that front page is more than justified

Makes me laugh that the thread title needs to say the American Revolution isn't the Civil War.

EDIT- Whoa, I'm a member now? No more Junior? Nice.

Can we guess that this is when the embargo ends for all the games at the Microsoft Spring Showcase?

Welcome to the rest of America's (the continent) problem. Mexican, Canadians and the rest of the crew scratch their heads every day.

No longer boycotting the Wolfenstein franchise
I'm digging the setting, but really curious how they handle the lack of tall buildings. Hopefully that's addressed on Monday.

Is there really enough confusion about the difference between the American Revolution and the Civil War that it requires clarification?
