Well, good job for the PR/Corp Comm/Marketing group over at Ubisoft.

I went from feeling lukewarm about a new Assassin's Creed to full staff based on the art and the little inkling about the ACII team working at this for three years.

Look at that blue on his garb. He is definitely for the revolution if anyone had doubts.

Maybe the templars splintered. One side to America the other stayed with the British.

The series is not centered on such clear cut definitions, at least for me. I envision it as a fight between assassins and templar.

The problem im having is how they will align all those revolutionary free mason´s in the grand scheme of things.

I'm not all up on my AC lore, so I dunno what will happen. I think it's possible that new protag is just caught in the middle and has his own objectives, and sort of plays both sides. But given the historical element, and that America essentially played the underdog in that war, it wouldn't surprise me at all if you don't side much with the British Empire.

Cover also has new protag about to dig a tomahawk into a Redcoat's forehead. :p

Alright, now I am intrigued. It is not going to be some yearly rush job of a sequel.

"Ever since the conclusion of Assassin's Creed II, a senior team of Ubisoft developers has been secretly toiling away on what comes next. That team aimed high, with plans to examine and rethink every element of the franchise from the ground up, build something new, and take a full three year development cycle to do it. "

Is there really enough confusion about the difference between the American Revolution and the Civil War that it requires clarification?

Yes, not everyone in this thread is American. There are only so many History lessons you can have in school, and most of those lessons covered very interesting areas in History. European history itself is large enough to make covering all of it impossible. Ancient History is the same. Simply covering both World Wars is a huge syllabus. When you have so many large areas to cover how can you possibly think American history is part of every syllabus (or even any syllabus outside of America?). For me at least those aspects of American history are vague. Anyone care to give a nice breakdown?

I like the setting a lot. Of course I'm still waiting for Brotherhood to drop under 20, or maybe pick it up on a Steam sale, but I never know about Ubi DRM.

Ah man, my hype for this game went from non-existant to my most anticipated game in less than a day.

I think that quote just sold me on a day 1 purchase.

An intriguing choice of premise to continue the backstory. BUT, and this is a pretty monumental BUT in 80 foot tall concrete letters, this game better deliver on significant improvements to the core gameplay. It just wasn't working for me in Revelations on a gameplay level anymore, and they kept adding stupid superfluous shit. Strip all that out, let me be an assassin, make the combat not suck, and make it so the climbing and traversal flows better and I will be happy.

Not liking this at all. That era in America is boring (from gameplay perspective). Aren't all the building of that time like just some ugly few storey buildings. Series' should have stayed at the old continent where all the culture and beautiful structures are.

Second World War and Paris would have been ace.

I love how they got the 3 years of development out right at the start to kept this hype train rolling, just like they did when multiplayer got added.

Also I don't get why people wanted an older setting for the III. If they are to be believed then this will end the trilogy which leaves a new main character, new settings, and other issues all available for a new series of games. This setting seems like an awesome way to end the Desmond trilogy.

If anyone knows anything about the AC series, its about the Templars embarking on a way to dominate humanity in the way they deem fit. For all we know, the Revolution could be a masterfully intertwined Templar plot to kick start the ball rolling, without it commercialism, capitalism, and basically the brainwashing of the masses would never happen in present day. So more than likely the British AND The Revolutionaries will be *evil* undergoing a scheme to change the world, no matter the loss of life.

Interesting setting but until now Assassins Creed looked very ugly outside of towns. I hope the game has a new engine and not the one from 2007.

The embargo ends on Monday, probably it will be shown at the Microsoft event that takes place this week because the embargo for this event ends on the same day.

The overall setting is nice, especially because of the piece of eden being taken to america reference´s in previous games, but i think Japan would have been a much more sensible choice before going all musket-ho in the revolutionary period.

Lore wise it would even make sense... i.e Assassin’s Creed: Embers storyline

Sounds good. Haven't played (and don't really plan to play) AC:R and didn't like Brotherhood so here is hoping this is more like AC2. Setting should be great too, Ben Franklin in the DaVinci role would be insane!

Yeah, the fact that they have been behind the scenes aiming high with a three year development cycle speaks volumes already. I went from feeling burned out and skeptical to feeling quite anxious in mere moments, lol. Can't wait to see the game itself in order to see if my new found excitement is justified.

I think it'll be interesting in a dramatic change of pace to have a more rural location for AC3.
