My Little Pony FiM Season 2 |OT| - Quality Has No Demographic

But of course he did. I didn't even notice, but where else would a minotaur hold a confidence seminar?

I'm beginning to think that Fluttershy's shyness isn't so much that she's afraid of other ponies. She afraid of herself. Looks like when Fluttershy stops holding back, she just gets scary. And bitchy. And she doesn't like that part of herself.

That's common amongst a lot of introverts or people with social anxiety. They cope with their insecurities by insisting that they're desire to remain isolated from people is a way to "protect" other people from themselves.

However, based on what we've seen, I'm inclined Fluttershy's shyness extends more from insecurities related to her shortcomings growing up; she reconciles such feelings with her nurturing persona, though that seems to only extend to creatures of a "lesser" intelligence.

Great episode, and damn Fluttershy can get real mean. But I did think she broke Pinkie a bit too easily, considering how oblivious she can be(or pretend to be). Or maybe it was the shock of seeing Fluttershy so bitchy?

Episode was great, but it could have been much more.
For instance, I feel the only reason why Pinkie and Rarity were paired so Fluttershy could comment on their lifestyles. Them being together seemed natural in the episode, but it's pretty much the opposite throughout the series. The two of them at the market? OK, that can happen. Rarity pops out from the behind the counter of Sugarcube Corner? Wha-? Rest of the episode? ...I recall there being at least two times the amount of ponies in this show.

Seems next week is the
time travel
episode. That sounds cool.
Her bag buckle is a muffin.
Now that the iTunes version is up...

You're right. They canonized the fanon. That's disappointing. I mean, the only reason she's into muffins is because that was her only line for a while, even though she was in a crowd of others who were excited by muffins.

Making a moving company job (or even UPS) into mailman is a stretch.

I also thought it was funny to see Pinkie and Rarity hanging out after Last Roundup, heh.
lol, good catch.

She has a lyre buckle. Interesting... But wait, there's more.

A moment later, we see Lyra in the background, sitting at a table and looking bored.

Iron Will didn't really give a bad advice - it's Fluttershy applying it in a wrong manner.

Like CGI - it's just a tool, yet people claim it's "killing movies", when it's actually developers doing it wrong.

That's one of the things I liked about the episode, it wsn't about anything Iron Will did, it was about what Fluttershy did.

And with the exception of Rarity's racism against minotaurs, Iron Will wasn't vilified.

He was a perfectly reasonable businessman who was in his right to collect his fee, but then held up his promised money back satisfaction guarantee.

Fluttershy just needs to learn that there actually is a middle ground between doormat and bitch. But that was pretty much the gist of her letter to the princess this time, so let's see if it sticks.

I agree that Iron Will is not a bad guy. He's a perfectly respectful business minotaur and he gives good, if over the top, advice, really. It was Fluttershy who went too far with it. Fluttershy is actually the villain of the episode, which is funny in itself.

And yeah, my favorite CGI is when it's used for something really subtle. Like backgrounds and smaller effects. I mean if it's a matte painting or a CGI effect doesn't really matter when it looks good. Although, I do have a soft spot for very over the top CGI, too. The Transformers movies may be really shallow, bu that scene in the first where Optimus transforms and you see all the tiny little details shuffle around and in place? Loved that. And come to think of it, My Little Pony is CGI, too. It's Flash animation, right?

I guess I'm mostly just annoyed with Derpy's portrayal because of its inception, for the reason China, IL demonstrates. If I were totally opposed to fan nods, my avatar would be hypocritical.

Just noticed this guy's face when his camera is flung into the bell.

I think iron will referring to himself in the 3rd person was a homage to the rock (The Brahma Bull is a nickname, and he has a tattoo.)

It's probably best to keep those two shows as separate as possible. Learn to love the muffin. Derpy has.

Hey, now that's pretty cool.

When it comes to effectively executed fan shout outs, I think subtlety is key.

I'm clearly out of the loop and missed something down the line. What's the significance of these two?
In fanon, they basically have the hots for each other. Since this fanon sprung forward, there've been a few funny background events that only serve to further this notion.

I don't care if they're just friends, rommates or lovers, and the show never needs to explain it either, but it's still a cool little reference.

Although, why would Bon Bon have that lyre buckle? It's shaped just like Lyra's cutie mark too...

Hm Twilight lent rainbow Dash a book once. They must be lovers, too. I mean Lyra probably lent Bon Bon her bag, and they're obviously lovers. This fanon logic is flawless.

Oh come on. Next you're gonna tell me that Vinyl Scratch and Octavia aren't lovers just because they've never even appeared in the same episode. They're both musicians, but of totally different genres and everyone knows that opposites attract! It makes perfect sense!

Or you're gonna claim that Trixie doesn't have the hots for Twilight. She totally does. The fact that Twilight totally humiliated her clearly means that she fell madly in love with her. Open your eyes, man!

Then again, the ep was smart enough to point that it is Fluttershy who is at fault, just kinda annoyed how the ending had that implication that Iron Will was a douche. Still, it was hilarious.

I could probably see that interpretation - I mean, although he was fairly affable with Pinkie and Rarity to a point, he did eventually end up tossing them out of his way in a fairly brutish fashion (I mean, Pinkie wound up in the mud, with no sympathy gained from Will - I forget what he did to Rarity, but I can't imagine it being much more pleasant).

Still, he was just coming to collect that which was owed him, which Pinkie and Rarity were trying to deny him, and he did take his defeat astonishingly well, so... not really evil or anything.

How was he not, he's not teaching people assertiveness, he's teaching them to be jerks.

Pure semantics. Assertive people can be insensitive to other peoples needs/wants in the process of being "assertive", and therefore be considered jerks. Fluttershy merely wasn't satisfied with the person she became as a result.

You're the one getting that implication. I never saw Iron Will as a bad guy, a douche or any of that.

he physically pushed around Pinkie and Rarity, just like Fluttershy did with the other ponies, and his lessons were intended to turn Fluttershy into a bully. It's just that, in the end, she didn't like it. Would have been more interesting if Fluttershy was the one who took his advise one step further, but that wasn't the case here.

Glad to see that shippers keep on shipping ponies.

his only unprovoked interactions with pinkie and rarity were a dual bicep hug to both of them and picking up and dropping rarity out of the way. [and rarity is a goddamned anti-Minotaur racist, so she deserved that]. Even then that only happened after he had explained his position and rarity persisted in attempting to block him.

all other instinces had an out of the way implication of impending violence only for it to be subverted every time by iron will doing something normal. ie: iron will tearing off the wooden planks on the door, bracing to crash through it and then politely knocking.

and his lessons were intended to turn Fluttershy into a bully.
bullshit! Iron Will did not ever promote unprovoked aggression. it was fluttershy who took each lesson to the extreme and began applying them in increasingly violent ways disproportionate to the offense committed against her.

Iron wills seminar was about standing up to bullies, not becoming one.

Hahaha people think this episode is better than Spongebob's episode Walkin' Small. Oh the humanity...

Don't they know that the Spongebob episode is actually perfect in length as opposed to this?

You're the one getting that implication. I never saw Iron Will as a bad guy, a douche or any of that.

Oh I don't see him bad, the episode just sort of ended in that way.

How was he not, he's not teaching people assertiveness, he's teaching them to be jerks.

Assertiveness =/= jerks. If anything it shows how assertiveness really helps people.

He's a buff and bulky testosterone-filled antropomorphic bull. That makes him perfect in Ookami-kun's eyes.

Eh, it's like with Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000. Flim Flam brothers weren't bad guys. They just wanted to employ technology to make Ponyville's folks' lives easier. And it would've been good to the economy due to at least some competition instead of full-on monopoly.

It was the conservative Apple family led by Granny Smith that cheated through-and-through. Flim Flam brothers played fair and square. The other team employed unfair tactics that would've been their undoing if it weren't for the Deus Ex Machina ending.

Same here, Iron Will wasn't evil or anything. It was just that his intentions were misunderstood and distorted by other ponies.

Actually Flim Flam were conning the Apple family profitwise. And they admitted that they were failing in other towns.

Iron Will however seems to be actually doing a fair job.
