Silent Hill HD Collection |OT| Programmed in Smoke Signals

^Me too. Opened it up when I got home and proudly put it in my collection. Didn't check GAF until a couple hours later. Oh well, hopefully the patch fixes the performance. Games shipping in unpolished states are getting way too common.

Just cleared the Mall in SH3. Maybe it's the fact that a majority of the environments are indoors but this seems to be running way better than SH2. The stuttering is still there but not as bad or frequent. Of course the game slows to a crawl when encountering large groups of enemies. Very bad when it's more than one Closer monster. Other than that it seems to be running okay. The voices are properly synched so far too.

I'm pretty forgiving to frame drops.. but the ones in SH3 HD on PS3 are very frequent, though brief. In contrast to the obvious (and very pleasing) 60 FPS, it's a huge let down.

The audio was also out of sync when Heather and Douglas first met.

You guys mean to tell me SH2 is even worse? Oh boy.

It will be curious to see how it performs when you
arrive in Silent Hill.

That's what I'm worried about.:/ Really worried how it will hold up in
Otherworld Brookhaven Hospital, and those crazy wall effects. D:

Well both games run pretty bad, but at this point I would say SH3 is just a little better.

Ugh...guess I wont bust open my PS3 version just yet.

Hopefully whenever the new Contra hits, it'll be perfect framerate wise. It better be.

What is the point of an HD collection if the originals are better than the "HD" versions?

Maybe they thought HD stood for "Half Definition" and thats why they butchered the audio and visuals. Happens all the time, right?

I'll definitely play them eventually, if only to have trophies for two of my favorite games, but even on the 360 where the games are playable, they're still full of embarassing faults that undermine the artistic integrity of the original games. Its a damn shame, too.

SH2 HD

Just recorded this. Crappy quality, but you can see how he'll run and just randomly stop to a walk, along with general stuttering and framerate fluctuations.

Note that when he will cease running and switch into a walk, I am doing nothing differently control-wise. It's really bad around 55 seconds in.

I'm sorry, but wtf is wrong with Japanese developers not knowing how to do shit on the PS3?

3 is the only one that seems outright offensive, at least 2 has the original audio. The only real issue with 2 is some bad texture choices.

Hahahhahahahhhhhh @"Half Definition", so true.

How the hell can you fuck up a remastering of 10 year old games in this kind of fashion? Especially in a technical sense. Surely it takes a special kind of ineptitude.

This need a damn thread of it's own honestly lol. I'm glad I didn't pick it up yet. Probably won't now, as I won't care by the time it's fixed.

It helps I saw this coming a mile away. I'm just sorry the solution wasn't there day 1.

It's getting really tiresome how developers are "sorry" about releasing essentially broken products instead of actually . . . I dunno, releasing working products on day 1 instead.

However, every early indication indicated this was going to be nothing but a craptastic release with no care put into it whatsoever. So why anyone felt "safe" paying money for it anyway is beyond me.

THOSE MOTHER FUCKERS CHANGED THE FUCKING ITEM PICK-UP NOISE. EVEN HOMECOMING LEFT THAT NOISE ALONE. I have a big fucking problem with this, Tomm.

Also, SH2 on the 360 is way too fucking dark. What the hell is going on with that? I have the brightness slider turned all the way up to 7 and I still can't see shit that the flashlight isn't pointed at. It's so easy to get turned around in Brookhaven Hospital because YOU CAN'T SEE SHIT.

Other things:

-- Right before you see "that red, pyramid thing" through the bars in the hotel when he's glowing red, you're supposed to hear a man yelling before you hear it. In the game, James stops and asks, "What was that noise?" One problem: THERE'S NO FUCKING NOISE. NONE. I was wearing headphones and there was no noise.

-- The roads in the beginning are way too paved and clean. It makes it kind of hard to see the blood stains because the road is so dark now.

-- When James meets Maria on the boardwalk, there's no fog at all in the dried up lake area. It's all just empty lake and you can see where ropes just end in the air randomly. Looks like total shit.

-- DID I MENTION TOO FUCKING DARK? It's so dark, you can't see James tilt his head in areas and it's easy to miss REALLY IMPORTANT items.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
Seems like SH3 is a mess. SH2 not so much, it's okay though.

Wait wait...wait. So the game doesnt have the usual "Boo-loop" noise when you pick up items? Even Downpour has that noise.

this is all kinds've a letdown right here.
i sold my OG SH 2 & 3, and not that i cant get them back but now im just gonna wait till the patch is out & rent the PS3 version, see if i can make peace with it. seriously though, after all those delays, you guys put out this? goddamn Konami, your corporate subtitle should be "redefining disappointment™."

Was already planning to skip this game, and the latest news just makes me feel better about that decision.

So glad I didn't sell my PS2 games in anticipation of this "collection." Absolutely pathetic.

Good thing that the patch should be up when its out here in EU. My PS2 is dying and the PC versions have some grand flaws. SH3 has tearing worse than in any other game I have played. Too bad SH4 seems to be the only decent PC port :/.

HD remastering of the classics SH games butchered not to make the new SH games look too inferior?
Sigh... Hopefully they can fix some of these issues with patches.

It does, but it sounds completely different. It sounds like it's being fast-forwarded and higher by 10 octaves.

Why the fuck would they think that needed changing? I've used that as my SMS tone before. The one in Downpour sounds dumb as well. For everything Homecoming did wrong, at least they used the same chime.
