Time for a heads up. Starting tomorrow, there's going to be a crazy first week of spring anime. Here's the lineup for the next 7 days:

April 1 - Saint Seiya Omega, Space Bros, Hiiro no Kakera

April 2 - Gon, Kimi to Boku 2, Zetman

April 3 - Queens Blade Rebellion, Rock Lee

April 4 - Kore wa Zombie desu ka? OF THE DEAD, Lupin the Third ~Fujiko 0wnz J00~, Medaka Box

April 5 - Recorder to Randoseru Season 2, Sengoku Collection, Sankarea, Natsuiro Kiseki

April 6 - Accel World

April 7 - Upotte, Fate/Zero 2nd Season, Mysterious Girlfriend X, Kuroko's Basketball

I remember, back in the day, when I used to watch the first episode of everything.

I THINK I'm free of that curse now.

So Omega, Space Bros, Fujikoike and Natsuiro (please Mizushima do something good!) should do me for the first week. Oh, and Zetman!

The gif is from Smile Precure, currently airing. It's really a lot more fun than most people were expecting it to be, you should *ahem* watch it with your friend.

About all that anime, think of it this way: that's less than 2 hours a day, which I can easily fit into my evening free time.

Thanks. I'll, um, watch it with my friend. :p

hmm. i personally can't watch anime like that. I either don't watch at all or do a marathon. It's hard for me to concentrate unless it's really captivating. Or friends watching it as well, which motivates me to watch it.

It is frustrating how it repeats so many of the same negative stereotypes shonen does, as far as gender relations go, yeah. :(

(As for Kaichou wa Maid-sama, I remember reading about the concept and then deciding not to watch it because of stuff like this, mostly.)

Hah... no, I don't think you will. :)

That is a good question, really. I think it's more the former than the latter, but men are stronger on average, so seeing at least some of the second element might make at least some sense. What doesn't make sense is seeing it to the degree you do, but a lot of that is explained by the former, cultural element -- Japan is of course a highly sexist society. The West is less so, but certainly we still have our sexism...

Of course, that doesn't really answer the question of how much of that (women wanting to be protected thing) IS natural and isn't just because of millennia of ingrained sexism. I don't know if anyone knows the answer to that question, honestly; it'd be so, so hard to separate the cultural from the natural that it's borderline impossible.

I think I've hit the limits of my pop-cultural anthropology at this point. It seems to be much more complicated that simple socialization though, since it's so far reaching.

Anime is just one outlet for this weirdness.

Well, I'm sure I'll be dropping a number of these throughout the season if they aren't interesting enough to keep me watching. But otherwise, it's pretty fun waiting till next week to catch the episodes.

In advance of the DVD release, The Anime Network is streaming the first episode of Infinite Stratos dubbed. Don't know if there are any regional restrictions in place.

Man, no Char. But I guess that horrible fake English accent would be in episode 1.

Huh. The first part actually teases the final episode, so you get to hear Laura say "Ja Wohl!" in her fake German accent. I guess I should appreciate the effort? lol

Persona 25

Man, I know it probably wasn't above a 7/10 overall, but goddamn, that sappy shit gets me every time. Power of friendship and all.

Maturity, bitches.
The original creators of TMNT are also positive about Michael Bay's plan to make them aliens in the next movie reboot. I'm sure they know what they're taking about, because Michael Bay rocks! :)
But they are not Welsh.

Restricted in the UK because we hate anime.

Yeah, I just watched the first episode subbed as well to have a comparison, and I'm not one to normally complain greatly about dubs, but man... you're not missing much.
I just think it's funny to hear them do the fake ethnic accents. Strangely China-girl doesn't really have one that I noticed.

The English version of the tsundere is really placid though. I guess it really just doesn't work in English.

Dear lord episode 2 copy and pasted so much from episode 1 it nearly qualified as a recap episode. o_O

I'm liking this humanisation of a tool angle, I just hope episode 2 doesn't set a precedent to the whole thing.

The funny thing about the P4 anime and an english dub, if it ever happens and they stick to the game's casting, is that you'll literally be hearing Bosch back to back. He plays both Yu and Adachi. It worked in the game since Yu said but grunts and the persona's names, but would be pretty funky in the anime.

I guess thats what I would be afraid of. Voicing two characters and then not to mention, he most usually, at least in everything I saw, always uses the same voice for characters.

I always wondered what that group name is called, was trying to find their skits on youtube and fanarts.

Whoa, don't blame the game for something it doesn't even try to do. P4 is a different type of story than P3, and the game is much better than the anime. Saying that, the anime didn't turn out that bad, I really don't know what they could have done to make it better. It's different enough from the game, so it's not boring for the people who've played the game already, they played around with some stuff and it turned out pretty well.

But seriously, the game is a masterpiece, much better than P3.
Oh, and you do realize that the story is not over? The true ending is coming in an OVA, and it'll be much more up your alley, I think.

I'm not sure if this is something I should say in AnimeGAF, but the dub for P4 was amazing, I prefer the English voices, especially Teddie's.

In terms of source material, I think I vastly prefer the story in P3. In that you could actually feel for the characters, the social links felt like they actually mattered, and the story and emotions were actually pretty intense and compelling.
The characters actually went through a tragic year and just, well so memorable and heart wrenching. Persona 4 just never reached that level, even its saddest moment Nanoko's death was immediately rendered into a happy moment like not even a full episode later, so many wasted tears and potential. I can only imagine how fast that felt in the game. Was that like even the only sad moment. P3 had more
.

Wouldnt the true ending just be a retread over episode 25? I dont think it would address the flaw, that is
the evil entity actually existing before they confront Adachi, so that you can actually feel emotionally moved by the shadow world merging with the real world to turn everyone into shadows. Maybe thats my greatest point of concern, this plot point just comes at like 4 minutes to the end of the episode, no build up at all and worst, they just temporarily push the camera lens back.
