Well, it's not like
he's been portrayed as a rational person. He's been, er, unhinged throughout the show.

Yes, but
he did have lots and lots of money. Usually that doesn't happen unless you have at least a little forethought. Especially considering his background.

What I'm saying is whether or not a writer can come in and basically took the manga and make a real TV show as opposed to something that is faithful to the manga. Compress the tournament arcs, push the character development forward in directions not even anticipated by the mangaka - basically do what the original Fullmetal Alchemist anime did when they ran out of manga material to adapt the first time around.

Something about manga adaptations have to be safe and I assume it's because you don't want the anime to trample over the manga if at all possible. I just wonder who you blame at that point for a tepid adaptation? If anime producers are necessarily beholden to the source text, then it's the mangaka that's basically at fault here. But then again, in a manga context, maybe having volumes and volumes of karuta playing is perfectly fine because people reading manga are used to endless pages of battles and fighting anyway.
Anime studio's have adapted hundred of manga titles over the years. I can't speak for the individual situations of these adaptations (e.g. contract stuff) but it's certainly been shown that you can make adaptation that are considerably different the original material, whether it be in tone, style or the story itself. They have the 'potential' to make changes to that text (ignoring their contractual obligations for a moment) and so it's not entirely unreasonable to wonder 'could this have been adapted differently'?

Yeah, I pointed out the biggest example. It's just that those seem to be the exceptions that proves the rule.

"At the Anime Contents Expo stage for the debut of Kana Hanzawa and Ayana Taketatsu entitled "Taketatsu to Hanazawa ga Debut-suru Wake ga Nai," it was announced that Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai (aka OreImo) will be getting a second season. The official site has updated to announce that production of season two has been green lit and the official twitter for Kirino from OreImo has revealed that more details will be revealed in an article on Akiba Blog tomorrow, which frequently has first reveals from the OreImo novels."

Hmm. Still hard to believe...

I can't wait for more lengthy posts about how an otaku-panderbait show is an accurate depiction of the angst and drama of real-life sibling relations.

Miu Moe Moe Kyun Beamed the moon.

Oh shit. Eureka is hot again!

Fuck, the Main Mecha is a girl? I'm pretty damn sure it was a guy before... continuity errors!

huh. With everyone talking up the ending of this... I expected everyone to be dead by the end... not this cheesy ass ending (still turned out better than ME3 ;P).

So wtf, is the new season gonna be about o_O?

Just got this series, so a marathon is probably coming soon.

I hope it isn't real, but I fear that it is.

I wouldn't suggest marathoning E7. The first half of the show is downright unpleasant to endure.

Mmm I'm convinced or half-convinced this is real..

We'll see past April 1st I guess. Also I would have EXPECTED a more outlandish announcement on april first.

Maybe announcing it on April 1st is a reverse troll, because it's real!

edit:
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/bbs/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1015501

Remember people, this was done at an expo with 50,000 attendees:

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2012-03-25/anime-contents-expo-sells-50801-advance-tickets

Why the hell would they set up a giant expo to promote the industry, and then just give fake information?

This is 100% legit. If it wasn't, then AIC would lose lots of money in their stocks since these kinds of trade shows are done for the stockholders.

If it was fake it would be something like "all future Oreimo works cancelled, creator calls fans 'depraved creeps' and declares war on America."

For anyone worried about To Love-ru Darkness:
The animeanime.jp website reports that the anime adaptation of Saki Hasemi and Kentaro Yabuki's To Love-Ru -Trouble- Darkness manga will run on television. The announcement of the anime was officially made at a "Secret Event" at Geneon Universal Entertainment's Anime Contents Expo booth on Sunday. Details will be revealed in the May issue of Shueisha's Jump Square magazine on Wednesday.
And some new key art of Yami:

Time to get FUCKING hyped for OREIMO S2!!!!

I need my Kirino fix asap.

Now we need icecream to create a new Oreimo S2 thread like the previous one he(she?) did.

Oh god, with Oreimo S2 announced,I hope that means Railgun S2 is possible now.

Envelope

TLR Darkness = good, although there will probably be Ninja Tits levels of censoring until we get BDs.

Oreimo sequel = bad.

First PV for From The New World is now out. Not much to say - the effects animation for the one action sequence shown looks decent. but otherwise it gives us some appropriately mysterious sentences to ponder and a bunch of flat-looking schoolchildren wandering around.

Aren't you the writer of Cinnamon Ass? What ever happened to it?

I stopped watching enough anime to keep writing it (in 2009 I think the only show I watched to completion was Eden of the East?) and we stopped paying for the server as it was supposed to be used by a bunch of other people and they never got their websites up and running.
