Auto Show tomorrow!!!

Woooooooooo. I can't wait to see the new Viper. This is definitely going to be one of the most new-filled auto shows I can think of in the past...6 years?

Me too. I'm not a huge Viper fan, but I'm excited to see what the Italian masters have done to it and how it will push the other American supercars rumored or projected for the near future (namely the Corvette C7 and the SuperMustang/possible return of the Ford GT)

Spoken like a true nub.

-Rotaries are just as reliable as long as you don't do stupid ricey shit to them and grenade them. Yes, they're not very strong against detonation, but enough detonation will wreck any engine.
-Has an LSx ever won LeMans?
-20B rotary put out 300hp and 300 torques from the factory. Not bad for 2.0L.

Better? HAHAHAHAPUSHRODS.

Spoken like a true jackass.

20B was turbo, 'nub'. S2000 was putting out 240 bhp out of an ALL MOTOR 2.0L. With turbo on low boost? 350-400 bhp, no problem. And the S2000 engine will last 2-3x longer than any 20B, that's for damn sure. Also can hold more boost.

And LSx is still better than rotary. There's a damn good reason so many people want LSx FD's.

...they didnt do anything to it, but according to the head of SRT Ralph Giles they picked fiats brain for more weight saving materials/expertise but no parts or underpinnings from any of fiats performance groups this time around. The one rumor had the viper tethered to the Alfa 8C but it didnt work out , differences in dimensions. I bet they helped tune the suspension though, generations of vipers with no electronic stability control and now i believe its mandated, SRT engineers probably just stood there with their mouths open on that one..."wtf is stability control???" i know a lot of people are sad to see the last bastion of nanny free driving go the way of the dinosaur oh well. This viper is rumored to be more accessible to non-track junky drivers so obviously they would get the expertise from fiat on how to make a powerful car handle with some manners.

And here I was thinking it's because the LS is cheap as hell and that you could find a kit for it for almost every damn car. Also, I have always heard that the S2000 is terrible for boosting.

And plenty of S2000's have LS engines too.

Better than expected! Though it looks like they pinched the (hideous) Mercedes steering wheel from the current C/E class.

EDIT: Just thought I'd add, Chevy's new corporate face is much much better than the previous one. Here's a better link from GMIN with more pictures

and even though it looks like an economy car, idiots will still put 22s on them.. just because its called an impala

Makes business sense. I suppose the driver aid-less car enthusiasts will have to settle for kit cars like the old Noble M10/12/400's. Though the new ones have all the new fancy schmancy compooterz.

S2000 is one of THE best cars for boosting. Forged internals make for an extremely strong block that has handled past 700 whp, stock. S2000 is a beast for boost whether you turbo or supercharge it.

And there are only a handful of S2000's with LSx engines. One of the guys who owns one posts here on NeoGAF.

So it looks like the Face that debuted on the new Traverse is indeed the new Chevy face. I like it, but it loses something. The split bar grille didn't always look good, but it was distinctly Chevy. You could swap out the logo for anything here. Though I guess there is a hint of Camaro.

I do like that the Impala logo has returned on the C-pillar.

Man that interior is goddamn hideous

Apart from the steering wheel, the design and materials look fine. Actually, it looks more like an evolution of the Malibu's interior than the previous Impala's. We'll have to see how the interior looks in other colors.

Its definitely a plainer face, but it's so much more versatile than the split grill - which didn't suit all car shapes and sizes.

As for the interior, quality looks good but the design I'm not a huge fan of.

As a bit of a side question, why do gm cars always get promo'd with brown interiors? A good black/black or beige/black is much more attractive IMO.

I just thought of something. I believe the current Impala is the last remaining car offered in the US with a front bench seat. I assume that's going away with the new one. It doesn't really matter, but it makes me feel a little sad.

Gosh, was it really turbo? It still would have put out at least 240bhp N/A, and that turbo was relatively light boost, like 0.7 bar. :p

Yes the S2000 was putting out 240 BHP... at 8300RPM! I guess if your definition of driving excitement is wringing out your engine all.the.time. A well-cared for rotary will go for 200-300k miles. The s2000 isn't even old enough for that yet.

Actually, the reason isn't a good one at all: they're chumps who like a beautiful car but have grenaded the engine through doing stupid shit, and the LS is an easy, budget way to get decent horsepower, and it'll take a lot of abuse from morons whose definition of tuning is putting on cheap wheels, a K&N, and a fart can.

Yeah, that's definitely better. Go back to school, son.

Am I the only one that really sees the current Accord Coupe in that design?

I like how you noted earlier that you mistakenly didn't multiquote all those posts you replied to.... and then go and double post again, not 20 posts later. Classic

A) that's not really relevant to the discussion.
B) I'm replying to two completely different posts/topics, why would I multiquote?

That is the EXACT reason they added the multiquote "+" button under people's names. You can then reply to everyone in one post. But hey, do as you wish.

You make it seem like a most rotary going 200k mile is normal and not an anomaly. Any engine will last long if well taken cared of, but a rotory is an exception, it can still malfunction regardless. It just a bad design PERIOD!

There's a reason why the LSx swap is so popular. One reason is that most rotor engine just keep failing regardless of how many rebuilt.

Anybody that think an s2000 ain't reliably is crazy! Even more so if they think a rotory is more reliable than the fc20/fc22...I can drive an s2000 and drive it HARD with lil to no worry every single day.

I think I'm almost gonna buy me my first Seville STS. Found one for ¥600,000 yen and was told they can be bought for even less. A dream car fulfilled.

Don't get your panties in a knot - no one said anything about the FC2x's reliability.

Yes, almost any engine will last a long time if you take care of it, but part of taking care of an engine is modding it smartly. You'll break any engine if you do dumb shit to it.

I have a feeling you may not actually know anything about wankel rotaries other than that they have a PR problem. I feel like I'm watching talking points on Fox News here. D:

Best looking Chrysler since... I don't know. Even the interior looks pretty.

Since the 1st gen Viper. Man, it seriously looks like they took the best aspects of the 1st and 2nd gen design and put it into this one (aside from the ridiculously stupid hood).

Definitely a beautiful car, and I bet its go matches its show.

Someone please tell me the grill isn't chrome and that's just the reflection of light. Chrome grill has no business on a viper!
Rest of the car looks terrific.

Looks like they picked the middle ground between a Taurus and a Passat. Guess I shouldn't be surprised that it's FWD only.

Are they going to try to market it to cops or has everyone just given up and decided that the Charger has won the next 10 years?

Look, if anyone doesn't know wtf they're talking about, it's you. I personally know people here in Socal with over 300k miles on their AP1, original engine and all.

And are you that ignorant? High-revving engines are awesome. Or maybe Formula 1, BMW's M3 (e30, e46 and e92) and Z4M, the RX8, the Lotus Elise/Exige, the Corvette Z06/ZR1, etc are all cars where 'your definition of driving excitement is wringing out the engine' is such a bad thing? Because all of them have high-revving engines that make their power at high RPM.

But what do you know anyways? You're a condescending rotary douche. Go work on your constantly blowing up rotary, old man.

No Chevy already sells the new Caprice to the police so they wouldn't bother turning the Impala into a cop car. Also the cop market is amazingly diversified right now with the two Ford Interceptors, the Charger and Chevy has the tahoe and the Caprice.

But then again Chevy has been selling the current Impala ppv alongside the new Caprice.
