Megaman Legends 3 axed; Capcom blames fans/goes insane, [Fans Start Support Group]

So, if this fan revival thing reaches 100,000 likes, what's going to happen? Will Capcom bring it back? Or will they not give a damn and keep it cancelled?

The fact that they're only like half way there now means there's probably no need to think about that.

It's been more than half a year since this thing started and they haven't even managed to scrape up 60,000 people. This is the hardcore, serious, guaranteed to buy the game internet fan crowd we're talking about, too.

If anything, this whole endeavour proves Capcom right in cancelling the game.

Nothing will have proven anything if the Prototype wasn't released to full effect at the so-thought ordained time, nonetheless. That was their big moment to test the waters for MML3—they never even gave that a chance!

They've sold a bit more since then. As of the latest NPD, the numbers were:

Mega Man Legends - 392,136

Mega Man Legends 2 - 179,660

The Misadventures of Tron Bonne - 22,801

How about the ports? Remember that the first one has N64, PC, and PSP ports (the last Japan-only), and the second one also has a Japanese PSP port.

I would guess that Mega Man 64 didn't sell great, because it came out late in the N64's life and AFTER all three PS1 releases (seriously, why did a straight port take three years after the original release to finish...), but I'm sure it sold something.

It's not like it matters.
The director of the game is gone and it's just far too late for Capcom to even care.

Still say if they do decide to ever go back to it it needs to be on all digital platforms and they need to re-release 1&2 HD on XBLA,PSN and Steam.

Sadly this is but a dream :(

The fact that it took this long to get even close to 100k pretty much means that this petition will do nothing.

If it was at 100k within a month or less, then yes.

Eguchi left Capcom? Where is he now?

I'd say there's no hope either but it still feels very possible that CC2 could take the current progress and finish it from there. I only say this since they seem to share interest in that kind of game, even funding their own "legends" stye game, solatoboro. Although I can't imagine Capcom having much confidence in CC2 after what an enormous flop Asura was.

Not really, internet petitions and fan groups have always been kind of pointless. Now what would have given them the right is if they were to actually release the finished Prototype and them gauge the interest based off of that, if that bomb? Then yeah cancel it and I will understand. Basing it off of forum numbers and fan groups is just stupid.

Now granted if there was about 250k people begging for a game or something then they would probably look into it but it would also have probably been an established franchise if it got those numbers.

So in 4 days they got 5,000 more people.

Why is there now the sudden resurgence in interest in this rather than before or when it got canceled?

Dragon's Dogma is a dream project for some of the staff. WHY CAN'T THE MML STAFF HAVE THEIR DREAM PROJECT AND FINISH THE SERIES OFF PROPERLY?

(Actually I have no idea, it's just interesting that they'll OK that but not MML.)

Again they wont say it but we all know its because Inafune left. Which sucks because he should have decided to leave AFTER the game was done.

Yeah no matter what angle I look at it from, I just don't get it. This is just about the same momentum or more that we had in the movement's infancy. I've been following it pretty closely even during the slowdown, and there hasn't been anything concrete that has spurred this rebirth. The only thing I can think of is Megaman's 25th anniversary bringing attention to it from curious fans wandering online, but even that's a stretch. Or maybe it's because its almost been a year since the cancellation?

Either way we'll see if there's even a response from anyone at Capcom once we reach 100,000, which I thought for sure was going to take 2 or 3 more years at the previous rate. At this point we'll be beyond the goal before April ends.

I think it's a matter of networking osmosis. There was a lot of initial interest and internet hype, sure, but that's only going to take you so far. The team has been putting in a ton of effort, that no one ever sees, in establishing relationships and raising awareness within other groups and demographics.

It's probably paying off. The amount of people talking about this was 10 thousand people on facebook, a few weeks ago, and is still around 8 thousand now.

It just broke 80k and the Devroom is nearing the precipice of surpassing Lost Planet on Capcoms forum groups.

The least Capcom can do is release the prototype.

That is unfortunate, although there was very little that was technically wrong with the game, it's more a sign of a project that had a misguided aim. Hopefully Capcom doesn't use it as an excuse if CC2 tries to get Legends 3 taken on board.

GAF, deep down you KNOW that if they develop mml3 it would suck major balls. Please, don't tarnish my rose-tinted memories.

Naaaah. I was playing Legends 2 the other day and had a blast. Even so, it had a lot of room for improvement. And from what we've seen of Legends 3, it looked even betterer.

Only because at least two of the key staff apparently left, and the rest are probably tied up in other stuff now anyway. If they went back now they'd be crippled compared to if this sailed for under ideal conditions.

Just hand off what they had to CC2

here's something that's actually bump-worthy.

It's unseen footage they had of the game before it was cancelled. Shows a lot of the island that we would've gotten to explore in the Prototype as well as our comentators miserably failing at the Guest Boss battle.

Gosh... The only shot I had at an open-world game on my favorite handheld.

i guess this open wound didn't heal. Still waiting on a handful of 3DS games I can fully support already, and man that video just makes this more shitty because I'm still waiting and this was one of the reasons I purchased a 3DS so early. Come on Paper Mario 3DS and new Etrian Odyssey, save me before I start to desire to sell it again!* :(

*knowing Nintendo, the day after I sell it something good will finally come out. Like how I traded in my Wii after I beat the disappointing Skyward Sword, and then like 3 days later they announce Xenoblade is coming to the USA. And Last Story. And that system was deader than a doorknob, and they still found a way to fuck me. Ffffff

I'm hoping whatever Inafune is doing is going to turn out to be wildly successful. Then hopefully Capcom will give his company contracts to do the games that they won't. Either that or Capcom will hit rock bottom soon. They are losing all of their big name developers and it is starting to show. If it wasn't for their recent fighting game resurgence, I wonder if Ono or Nitsuma would even stay there. Or be relevant.

I don't think you understand what unseen actually means. I'll give you a clue, it's the exact opposite of what you seem to think it is, given the link provided.

Anyway, that aside;
