The Dark Knight is overrated.
There, I said it.
It's a good film but Nolan fans are just as bad as Whedon fans when it comes to overrating their works.

Wait, Avengers comes out a week before the new Tim Burton movie starring Johnny Depp?
Nothing of worth is coming out after TKDR.
Christopher Nolan is completely capable of a bad film, and it's rather easy for the third installment of a trilogy to end up sour.

InbeforeTheAvengersPromoIs that the douchiest photo you could find?
Movie will bomb.
Movie will bomb.
I hate this guys face so much. I wish I could explain what it is but I can't. He just looks permanently bro-douchey like his character in The Town is who he is in real life. He looks completely out of place in Avengers same with Scarlet and the bald guy.

There is already a thread for this. And TDKR will crush Avengers. Domestically, worldwide and in quality.
Joss Whedon sucks.
The Avengers will do 600/700 million tops, Dark Knight Rises will make 1.1/1.2b.
I'll go with this. Avengers will make mad bank with merch on top, mind.

What did Dark Knight do? I can't imagine Rises doing any more than it.
Disney will make more money from The Avengers than WB will with TDKR.

Indeed. What are their budgets anyway? I know Avengers is $250bn~ but I have no idea what Nolan was working with.
Billion worldwide..and I could see TDKR matching it if it benefits from word-of-mouth legs.
1b.
Of course it will do more, why wouldn't it?
The Dark Knight was huge. This is gonna be bigger.
Holy shit, what has produced this intense Whedon hate?
Same.
Firefly, Dr. Horrible, Doll House..etc.
Doesn't have the Joker. The character is iconic and is a huge draw on his own.
Doesn't have Heath Ledger's death drawing people to the box office. It was a big story at the time and the talk about his performance drew in a lot of people who may have not seen the film otherwise.
I think this film does around 800 mil. Still beating Avengers but not by much.

I doubt TDKR will even come close to TDK; it lacks TDK's iconic art direction and, as far as mass appeal goes, Goatse Bane isn't even close to Ledger's Joker.
I think your opinion is kind of not what the general public thinks, though.
Response to the trailers, the prologue, and especially Bane has been very positive so far. The only complaint, Bane's voice, has spawned interest more than anything else. There seems to be a lot of buzz and curiosity as to what the final performance is going to look like. Also pretty certain the "goatse" thing isn't widespread, haha
A "positive impression" doesn't compare to the insane buzz surrounding the Joker and Ledger's performance. The catchphrase was everywhere months before the movie was released.
Johnny Deep was always the main draw of PotC and he came back for PotC 4. The violent neo-noir aesthetic, the way in which it ingrained itself in pop culture, the Joker and Ledger were the main draws of TDK; TDKR looks like a sci-fi flick, doesn't have the kind of iconic imagery that sticks in pop culture and lacks both Joker and Ledger. It's a completely different situation.
It will make what Inception made? No way it's that low. Overseas grosses have exploded, even in just the past 4 years since TDK.
