I would have thought a Nintendo fan of all people could understand why a grown man would enjoy Ponies.

I gave the show a season and while I understand why some people would like it, the show really didn't do anything for me <_<

I mean, I guess I was expecting something different with all the enthusiasm for the show but, it's a show for little girls..

First 2 episodes are honestly pretty bad. They reek of Pilot, none of the characters are fleshed out at all and the charm isn't there.

I just started watching this show this week thanks to Hitokage. This is all his fault.

It's not the greatest show ever made or anything but I'm having a lot of fun watching it. Most cartoons do nothing for me anymore since I've turned into a grumpy old man but I appreciate the charm that this show has had so far.

Grumpy old man? lol

I will admit I've see a few videos that defiantly illustrate that the writers do have talent http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axbU7kzWMqQ And the animation is top notch. You could defiantly tell that Faust and others had a hand in creating a unique style that is very clean and doesn't go for the easy shots. Too often in animated shows animators feel the need to use way too much movement and exaggeration. Sort of like they are copying John Kricfalusi.

Okay Fox. I was willing to overlook your Tebow loving, foot licking ways. But this? Unforgivable.

I'm an animation junkie. Will I ever watch another episode? Probably not but I wanted to have a better understanding of the topic so I did some research. I just find it to be an odd blip that a show like this could have such a popularity with a completely different target audience.

Don't take this the wrong way but... You sure you're into video games?

Ha! That's what I mean. Some people just assume that Nintendo/Sony/Japan rule the industry. I started with an Atari way back when, graduated to a Sega Genesis in the early 90s and then went toward PC gaming. Diablo, Unreal Tournament, Command & Conquer. Obviously much more action heavy, bloody and less story-driven. No spiky hair. No androgynous weirdos with really long swords.

So the PS2 really didn't do it for me. I didn't like Ico. I didn't like Final Fantasy VII.

I loved Halo though. And Fable. I have over 100 X360 games still in my collection, and that doesn't include all the ones I finished and traded in.

I don't label the Nintendo games as being kiddy, but I really don't find them appealing. I'd rather play Darksiders than Zelda.

The Atari 2600 is such a great way to jump into video games. Since the tech was so shitty so that the user's imagination played a key role. Plus who doesn't love a wood grain console.

2600 was a little before my time, though I *think* my brother knew someone that had one.
Well he had "an Atari" I don't remember which system it was.

The world map is just a shitty (and huge) USA, no Canada though.
Also, the America FUCK YEAH song from Team America is the overworld music.
That area in the screen is my house tent, the audio from this video is the background music :jnc
It's quiet outside and when you go in it gets louder.
:jnc I am sexy as shit
You're also a witch.
'cause I haven't bothered to change it :jnc

We had the 2600 and then we got a Coleco next.

The day my parents upgraded from the 2600 to a Coleco was one of the best days ever. I loved the Coleco so much. Lady Bug and Zaxxon were my 2 favorite games for it. I also had the baseball game with the crazy controller.

Here it is:

Zaxxon was so f'n awesome.

I remember getting the Coleco and thinking "look at these amazing graphics." lulz

Kids these days bitching about graphics have no idea.

That is so true. At the time the leap was so big. I was totally floored when my dad hooked up the Coleco the first time. Going from games like Pitfall and the Smurfs were you could make out the trees but everything was flat and undetailed, to the Coleco were even objects in the backgroud had detail was huge. It is kind of sad that we wont ever have a jump like that again.

Did you miss Super Mario Brothers, Mario 64, Doom, maybe MGS2, etc?

I am sure there are other games that I am missing but seeing Super Mario for the first time in 1985 was one of the biggest holy shit moments ever. Such a simple game now but at the time it is hard to explain how much of a game changer it was.

The jump from PS1 to PS2 is probably the smallest jump we have ever had. It is rally hard to include PC, and I wasnt, because what gen do PC games even belong to. Mario 64 was definitely another holy shit moment in gaming, I will agree with you there.

Edit: jnc nailed it. The jump from the XBOX to the 360 was huge in a lot of ways, but graphically it isnt as jarring as the jump from the 2600 to the Coleco. The jump to the next XBOX will be impressive as well I am sure, but it wont be so obvious graphically as those old consoles. The jumps now are more interms of behind the cenes stuff like AI, and number of enemies.

I think he meant, a jump that big these days. Which I don't think is true.
