I'm starting to think you guys were wrong about this being a BL anime.

If there was more than one female in the show we could use AnimeGAF's new universal anime watching method to conclude that it's actually a yuri.

This show is 111% cool when the jazz gets going. The other stuff in the episode was pretty predictable and standard. There is a pretty overwhelming number of roaming packs of thugs in this series to the point where they've become not particularly threatening.

Is it a show about a girl spending her free time with two guys in their underwear, or is it a show about one man feeding the other his popsicle? That's for you to decide.

The plot thickens.

Phi Brain S2 - 02:

I really like this silly show. It's overly dramatic and crazy, but it's the sort of stupid fun that just hits all the right notes for me. :D

I liked how Pinochle's teasing of Chieno and suggesting she let loose meant that just would let her ribbon down. I never get tired of Kaito's appreciation for the puzzles and their warmth.

Glad I'm not the only one that made the Spiral comparison. Though I imagine no one else has because no one here has seen it.

Thats my favorite manga, however the anime seemed to go OOP long before I was even interested in manga and anime :/

The only person who hurts Kanna is Kanna.

That is sadly true. or rather, no one hurts Kanna as much Kanna herself. :(

Woah woah woah. Juri's VA is Eri Kitamura? No wonder I loved her voice so much.

Eri Kitamura was around back in those ancient days? I didn't even know, and she's one of the better voice actresses. :(

And wtf, you didn't realize
Juri is 100% lesbian? Were you even paying attention? :p

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Maybe the girl ends up sharing Popsicles with both of the guys.

I feel like we've had this conversation before.

Deja vu?

That was some pretty sweet music. The whole scene with them playing was executed perfectly, and it just made me smile watching and listening. Beyond that, you have some good development between the relationships of the main characters, and Kaoru's narration worked well in this episode, too. I also think the religious stuff the show touched on in this episode was pretty unexpected. It's not a subject matter that you see come up too often in these types of stories, so I'm curious to see where that will go.

As per last week, this show is a lot of fun to watch. There's just something really enjoyable about the look and feel of this work - it's not the sugary-rush of Tsuritama, it's a bit more mellow. The direction is still pretty solid, although I can already hear certain people complaining about the slight shaky cam. Nevertheless, a pretty nice looking show for the most part.

Although the lighting right here isn't so great:

I am slightly concerned about the story though. I am not really bothered by this being 'another highschool show' so long as it avoids being clunky and stupid - but the number of roaming gangs means that the town in this show is starting to resemble Streets of Rage. Still, the show is telegraphing that it might consider discussing something about religion, which might prove to be fairly interesting and outside the norm for these kinds of stories.

Oh, it's almost worth nothing how there's zero fanservice in this episode, besides dudes taking off their shirts. It's the classiest anime in weeks!

I think we all know where this is going - the show appears to be setting up some rather traditional plot threads, I just hope they can continue to execute the show to it's current level.

Finally, the audio folks did a great job underscoring various important scenes with appropriate music, like last week. For most shows that aren't 'action' I either don't notice background music at all or I pick up on it because it's being used poorly. That's certainly not the case with Apollon.

imgs and this is starting to get me interested in this anime, probably just continue to follow the write ups and watch it out of season or whenever its released on disc.
