Yeah, the lack of benders working at the Sato company makes me think Mr. Sato is funding the Equalists.

Maybe he just has firebenders and metal benders in the production making the actual parts, while normals put the cars together. It's strange, but I think that's flimsy reasoning to go as far as to assume he is supporting Amon.

Do you guys really think she has an ulterior motive? The way they showed us, it really was just a freak accident that she happened to run over Mako which turned out to lead to the Fire Ferrets sponsoring.

If really a coincidence, it's a contrived one.

Really, I think she's around to be another female s well as a non bender in the cast that's around Korras age. Trolling shippers is just a plus.

If she gets a good amount of roles that don't involve spending "quality time" with Mako, then yeah. I'd like that.

What makes you think that? And also, how can a coincidence be contrived?

I misused that word, actually.

What I mean to say is that it seems contrived because on the very day that they need it most, all the ferret's money problems are solved by this beautiful, rich, generous, kind woman who falls in love at first sight with Mako. What are the odds of that?

Haha. I enjoyed the shipping wars trolling Asami brought.
Would be really cool if she had chi-blocker skills or some other ninja skills.
Korra's fumbling and slightly bratty/impulsive attitude is great.

I kind of dislike how much genetics plays a role in bending. In my mind, it should be 25% genetics and 70% cultural teaching, and 5% luck.

This is a series full of contrived coincidences, and this one bothers you?

My off the wall theory about lust
is that saito is a equalist and lust is not actually his daughter but amons, and she is a spy/chi blocker who is going to infiltrate the FF's to keep tabs on the avatar. Reporting her progress at spiritual training and air bending, as well as subtly make her life shitty. All to trigger the avatar state so she or amon can kill her when its activated and end the avatar cycle forever.

Or shes just a ditzy girl that wants to bang a couple sports stars.

Either way I like her hair.

It doesn't actually. Mako has been noted multiple times for being handsome, the character of Asami isn't hard to believe. The hardest thing about this to swallow is the timing, which is REALLY lucky. But that's not a big deal and no, I don't have any problem with it. I was just noting that it seems contrived.

What are the odds of two water tribe kids finding the Avatar who has been missing for 100 years that a whole nation couldn't find, just when the World needed the Avatar the most?

I think I just like to believe that good things do happen and I think Asami seems very sincere.

Like I said, I'm not upset over it. I find it slightly suspicious, but that's all.

Having read this I re-watched the scene and now I can't listen to the first reporter who speaks without thinking of Blum's voice in Great Teacher Onizuka. Anyway, here's a screencap of the guy. I think he has the right build.

Similar skintone, eye color, build, and would explain how he has access to a radio station....
Ahhh, I can't get started.

Korra's fumbling and slightly bratty/impulsive attitude is great.

they say its the best training money can buy so i think chi blocking could be up there due to its sheer effectiveness (could reduce a lot of kidnapping/ransom attempts from like those triad members, etc). Plus she supposedly has killer driving skills also.

Cant wait to see this tougher side.

Someone with a better memory than me, did Aang ever get hit by Ty Lee or fight with her in the first series? Airbending seems like the perfect counter to chi blocking.

Do we have any indication of the bender/non-bender proportions in the city? I only rermember Katara being the only on in her tribe, while it seems commonplace in the northern tribe, but i always pressumed something like a 70/30 split with the non-benders being the majority.

I would also like to see how technology comes into this, since we have seen the city is reliant on bending for power and such. but tech can also be an equalising force and i thought the convenience of bending would have hindered that kind of progress. I mean, why use motorboats when waterbenders can propel them with ease? And we have seen with Sokka where invention can't make up for lack of natural superpower (the counterpointe being Billy/Syndrome of The Incredibles, where ones with powers are forced to hide.

Then again, the city must have massive problems with unions of workforce with bending abilities. And non-benders just can't compete. I have a feeling that Amon will succeed to a large extent and largely because it is the will of the people as well, pro-bending will play a large part and Korra will have her bending taken at a final or something, but then somehow that is part of the plan (not Amon's plan but the spirits) her role as Avatar is to bring balance by not bending.K or something like that.

He never fought her. Sokka and Katara and Suki did. I don't recall if any other major characters faced her directly.

Unless I am not remembering something!

It was her first episode.

Trust me, the pre-game blowjobs she gives Mako will help the Fire Ferrets win.

What about Bolin? Actually, don't answer that, things might get weird again.

TOO LATE.

Korra can't afford to displace her jaw before matches. As usual, Bolin gets the shaft. Specifically Amon's shaft.

Or shes just a ditzy girl that wants to bang a couple sports stars.

Either way I like her hair.

Wow what is going on in here?

Rewatching The Guru episode of TLA and I wonder how they'll handle her spiritual side. I mean We just saw in this episode her first chakra opened at the end. Will she have someone teach her how to master the avatar state? I seriously can't wait for more things to unfold.

If Aang needed help, then Korra is going to need it.

The council was talking about some guy Aang killed later on, what was his name? I knew we would have these types of flashbacks and I was pretty sure that we were going to get more of Aang's story and other bad guys he fought so it's nice to see the show going in that direction.

They didn't say they killed him, they just said he "dealt with it" or "took care of it" or something like that. I doubt Aang would kill anyone after all the trouble he went through in avoiding that in the first series. But yeah, I don't remember his name.

Wrong word. I'm thinking Aang never killed anyone.

Aang sent him him to the Shadow World in another Dimension that only lemur tears could wish him back from. Bascially, that guy won't have to worry about his destiny anymore because it was permanently destroyed forever in the the darkest dungeon to rot.

Aang changed as he got older:

His name was Yukone and I bet what he did 42 years ago has some link to Amon.

I can't decide if the show moving this fast is good or bad. I feel overwhelmed at times. I need breathing room, hope the next episode is it.

Well next episode is titled "The Spirit of Competition." Hopefully a return to somewhat familiar pro-bending might adjust that tempo some.

Now that you mention it, that's probably Amon. Aang probably took his bending away and that's how he learned the move. Either that or Yukon was Amon's master.

Yeah it is moving a bit too fast, the story needs a little more space to breathe. To tell you the truth I'm more interested in the air benders and the old characters than Korra, Mako, and Bolin so I'd like to see more minutes for Tenzin's family and flashbacks.
