Does anyone know if the U.S. version of Hot Shots Tennis works? I'm still having trouble transferring it from my PS3 to the Vita. In other news, I'm probably going to download Mortal Kombat- but that takes a real chunk of my 16GB card! It should be glorious regardless.

CAN NOT WAIT FOR GRAVITY RUSH!

ill keep that in mind, wanted to always check that game out. Along with Size matters, game was so much harder then it had to be because the aiming/camera was terrible.

If these games get a drop to 10 each i can see myself getting more of these, now just need something bigger then 4gb

FYI, bundle located here: PS3 Games > PS3 Bundles. (Its in the wrong section) This is from CAG.

haha thanks i was wondering at first where it would be. i just dont have the space for it though. do all the bundles work with the vita?

Nope. The Motorstorm/Twisted metal bundles games don't work at all. The rest I'm not sure. I'm glad Daxter is $10 since its Vita compatible but man I'm hoping for a PS+ sale on these games to go lower....a man can wish.....

Btw about the CTA grip you can open it up and cut a hole in it to allow for charging with the accessory. Someone on the wipeout forums helped me out and I got it working pretty well. First one was a little rough but I bought two of the controllers since I knew it would be awesome and I'd want to allow charging while playing. Will try and sort out a tutorial when I do the next one but basically it involves a small flat screw driver. Taking apart all the screws. Taking out the switch and carving a hole for the vita charger. Securing the sliding mechanism at its locking position using tape (works perfectly well, minus the look) or some small stone to stop it sliding down. The vita stays perfectly secure, you can charge while playing and can also take out the vita but pressing down on the middle-top of the grip which is more flexible and the vita pops out. Just thought I'd mention that it is do-able since it was my only issue with the accessory. Wait for pics if you have no clue what I am on about and of course do at your own risk. Also beware, lots of dust....I used a kitchen knife but you'd want something smaller if you want to be precise about it.

So i did a little examination of the reverse-bullshots that people were posting of MK.

Here is a shot I took of MK, all blown up and looking terrible.

6987662776_731e2c9416_b.jpg

And here is a link to the video of me taking that actual shot. I'll let you be the judge of whether this picture is a good indication of what the game looks like...

http://youtu.be/3Pc6DhaSz1w?t=2m19s

And if you care, here's the whole video... it has some interlacing issues, as my camera and 60fps vita games don't seem to mix. VT did the same thing to it :(

http://foryourvitahype.com/2012/05/02/for-your-viewing-mortal-kombat/

I almost want to make a giant post where I take shots in a bunch of games and show videos of what they looked like while i was taking the shot so the majority of vita-haters can see that their 'proof' that the vita 'isn't as great as people said it was' is BS.

Just noticed this over at the EU playstation blog comments section for 1st May store update:

Dante_Zero said:
shame nothing for the psvita was inlcuded like a discount on modnation racers road trip.
Andy Stewart - Playstation Store Team said:
Yes it is a shame but there is a good reason for this… which I can’t discuss right now.
So...there seems to be a good reason they're not releasing Vita stuff? Or is he replying about no discounts for Vita? Interesting nonetheless.

EDIT: Nope, just the sales. Nevermind.

It's a noble task but I'm not sure the haters will be convinced by off-screen video in the end. MK on my Vita looks really good, is smooth as butter and plays great. That's all I need. If the haters want to hate that, so be it.

Well a direct screen capture certainly shows the game better than an off-screen footage. Everything looks great on off-screen footage...

The best way to see how it looks is certainly to save that screen to see it on the Vita itself. I tried and it still looks like shit...

Based on how people were saying Uncharted looked so good compared to the captures, i think they are just convincing themselves...

Mortal Kombat is amazing on the Vita. It's a game you have to play rather than make your judgement off a blown up screenshot

I thought Uncharted looked good. *shrugs* Especially in cut scenes.

The game with the weakest visuals for me is MLB 12: The Show. But that is so feature rich that I still give it a pass.

Did Sony say anything about PS2 games coming to the Vita just like the PSone classics?

Nope, just that PS1 was being worked on, would be pretty nice surprise though but I have no idea if the hardware itself is actually capable, the PS3 had a hard enough time.

Too bad I can't get a digital copy of my EU Crush version for VITA. The price is too much high to pay for the game again.

Uncharted definitely looked good... but not running in native res does hurt it.

I really wish Sony just enforced the resolution thing, anything that runs at full resolution looks amazing on the screen, they should really take advantage of it.

Do you guys recommend Daxter? For that price is hard to resist...

Yes. Excellent platformer.

Look for the Dual Pack with it too though. I think there is a dual pack offered with Secret Agent Clank (which I wasn't terribly fond of). Not sure if that had a price drop too.

just saw this in the pick-up thread

I wish that the Vita will get some kind of AppStore to get games like the iPhone/Android platforms augmented with joypad controls.

I'm sad when I see lots of games like Max Payne and Marvel Vs Capcom 2 arriving on iOS/Android platforms and thinking that the Vita could easily handle these.

Maybe we'll actually get some use out of PS Suite?

Ghostlight just dropped the price on some of their games. e.g. TiTS is now 30€ instead of 35. Still rather high but better than nothing I guess... The persona2/TiTS bundle is 50 now instead of 60 btw.

My Vita is frozen. I tried to restart it because Mortal Kombat wasn't working, but it got stuck on the "Power Off" screen. After a while the screen went dark but you can still hear the menu music playing. Resetting and using the home button doesn't work.

Has this happened to anyone before?

Have you tried to hold the power button (or power + psn button) during 30 seconds?

I would agree with you if the captures were at the screen resolution and not blown up. The picture i posted and the pictures people posted in the days leading up to this were atleast twice the size of a vita. Take any console game and blow the picture up 2x and see how well it stands up to scrutiny. It won't.

I also don't agree that "everything looks great on off-screen footage" mostly because I've been capturing video (offscreen) of every single vita game released and the shitty games look shitty in the videos.

Also, Uncharted looks way better than those blown up captures - there's nothing to convince yourself about with uncharted, it's a fine looking game.

That's why on my site (http://www.foryourvitahype.com coughplugcough) I set the pictures to be about the size on a 1080p monitor that the vita screen is. I know not everyone is viewing on a 1080p monitor, but I have checked on my wife's macbook as well (which I believe is 1280x720, maybe it's higher...) and they look good there as well without being misleading.

Here, i'll do it with the image i used last page, and i'll do it with uncharted...

I mean it doesn't take a genius to figure out that showing an image bigger makes it look worse and showing it smaller makes it look better... but, at the same time, we had a ton of not-geniuses going off of absolutely gigantic pictures of MK and deciding it looked absolutely terrible...

Uncharted definitely looked a lot better when playing the actual game compared to the screenshots. During a very late part in the game
when you climb up a rope in the caverns
, the view looks super nice. I tried to take a screenshot of this because i thought the graphics looked great, but when viewing the screenshot on my PC, it looks pretty bad in comparison.

I'm not sure about Mortal Kombat Vita since i havnt tried that, but it was definitely something to in regarding Uncharted: Golden Abyss.

While not entirely off base, viewing the pictures at their native resolutions does at least reveal the level of detail present in the game.

If you look at captures from Virtua Tennis 4, for instance, you can clearly see that most of if not all of the detail from the console versions is fully present and accounted for. It looks even better on the Vita itself for the reasons you note, but the full sized shot does properly reveal what's actually being displayed.

Oh, absolutely. Virtua Tennis is also a very clean looking game - native res, solid colors, etc. It's the type of game that can stand up to being blown up. I would assume that if you took Virtua Tennis 4 on the PS3 and blew it up to 2x its size it would hold up much better than Uncharted 3 would at 2x its size - but I don't think anyone is going to say Uncharted 3 is a bad looking game.

Im arguing two different points here which isn't helping my argument. But I do agree with you, Virtua Tennis is an absolutely amazing achievement on the Vita - it's one of my favorite games and it's definitely one of the best looking. But it also isn't trying to render what Uncharted is...

The screengrabs are at the native Vita resolution of 960x544.
Your "smaller" pics are at a downsampled to 500x283.

Obviously all games will benefit from being on the smaller OLED screen of the Vita with much higher DPI but to me, the native shots are fair.

Not true. Uncharted 3 and Virtua Tennis 4 both run at 1280x720 on PS3. Blowing them up to 1920x1080 would yield roughly the same results between the two of them (Uncharted may even be cleaner due to MLAA).

The issue with the Vita games in question is simply that they run at a lower resolution than 960x544. That's really it. The shots aren't actually being "blown up" here.

Yeah, i mixed up the terminology. I know it's at the resolution, but it's not at the screensize.

Kinda like 1080p on my 23 inch monitor looks a hell of a lot different than 1080p on a 70 inch television.

Of course. I know exactly what you're talking about, but I still think it's fair to view direct shots from Vita as it does give a representation of what the system is actually displaying. As long as people realize that it will look better on the actual system it's even less of an issue.

Absolutely. If the thread about MK (the screenshot one from a few days ago, not the OT) was about how at that size you can see some problems with the graphics and then compared it to other fighting games with shots that size and it was a productive conversation.... I wouldn't be posting all of this stuff.

Instead it was a couple people posting giant shots and the majority of vita-hating-gaf going "LOL VITA I GUESS YOU ARENT THAT POWERFUL LOL" and "THIS GAME LOOKS LIKE SHIT I WOULD NEVER BUY THAT." The screenshot looks like shit, yes, but the game - specifically while playing - looks amazing.

I guess i'm just worn out by the vita-hate. But I guess that's probably because the popularity of my site will be directly proportionate to the popularity of the vita - so for once I'm actually invested in how it does. Usually I could give a crap about how something is selling or how people view things.

But don't worry i'm not a Vita hater but a demanding Vita owner :p
I would like people to stop calling a native rez screenshot "blown up". A blown up screen shot is a capture at a bigger rez, like when we see giant 3ds screens. But here, it's not blown up, it's just exactly what it is. And again, the Vita as a huge screen and if you're not playing with your arms amazingly stretched, you'll see everything. Even micro native rez aliasing in Virtua Tennis, is noticeable.

And about Uncharted, i played the demo and saw hugely awful backgrounds with messy and blurry sad vegetation texture everywhere. I'm sure there are some nice places in the game, and cut scenes looks good, BUT what looked awful in Screens IS indeed afwul.

Now, for MK, that' doesn't make it a bad game. I'm not a fan myself, but it probably has a great value and even with the bad graphics, is probably more beautiful that most of the portable games (outside Vita).

if there is a mess every time a Vita game shows downgraded or unworthy graphics, it's cause Vita is what it is. A high profile and expensive, struggling machine which strength should be "you've never see anything like that before".

Hi guys, Vita's are exceptionally import friendly right? So if I import a Canadian one to the UK I'll be able to sign on to UK PSN etc won't I?
