Still without luck
I picked up 3 of the new mystery minifigures today. I was hoping to get the bunny suit dude, but maybe next time.

Also, I don't post much in this thread but I do read it everyday. I work at a Lego store and you guys definitely keep me more informed than most of the other 'brick specialists'. Hell, I can't even give you guys any insider information because you know it before I do. Keep on Legoin' on.

Vied for a tag related to cocks, so here it is.

We've gotta know one thing:
Employee discount?

We get 30% off of anything in the store, but we also have 1 day every quarter where we get 50% off with some restrictions. Although, we're only allowed the the discount with the purchases in our store and our store only. It's still pretty awesome.

Took my son to the Lego store today for the free monthly build. They had the June calendars in.

Looks like they are going to have a Free Mini Sopwith Camel with $75 purchase all month long.

Can you take a picture of the Mini Sopwith Camel?

So after building Pet Shop and Fire Brigade, I think I'm going to embark on rebuild of Cafe Corner.

I've been building a big reserve of spare pieces bought at charity shops here in the UK and lots from eBay. (I bought one haul, mentioned in this thread previously, for £40 and it was full of random bricks and half-complete first wave LEGO Batman and Indiana Jones bits and pieces - no figures, but lots of the darker bricks.)

Looking at the instructions for the Cafe corner, half of the bricks will never be seen, so I can substitute in a lot of my random stuff for the back or the larger plates. Really, all I have to do is just buy the defining parts that make the facade so distinct.

(I'm also going to mod the part of Cafe Corner that asks for awkward windows built from 1x2x3 brackets with no glass - and just use actual windows in that shape, with glass.)

Wish me luck!

i look forward to doing that some day, not caring about getting 100% accuracy, but just the overall design and feel right.
i hope you enjoy yourself :)

there aren't that many pieces that won't be seen, unless you plan to hide the back or inside walls.

There are plenty of substitutes you can use for the most expensive bricks - you'll see those when you start to bricklink it.

Support this if you haven't already. Even if you don't like Firefly it's a cool ship

Nah, it's an ugly ship. One of the ugliest semi-famous ships from any space ship bearing sci-fi media.

If this thing reaches 10,000, it'll be a traversty, when we have the awesome modular western town languishing on 5000-6000 votes.

I will own most of those LotR sets... oh yes :|

LEGO sure knows how to spread those minifigs across multiple sets. You have to buy more than 3/4 of the sets to get all of the main characters.

I much prefer this thread than communities like eurobricks, everyone there just gushes over every new lego set release regardless of it's quality.

The "reviews" too are a joke, they're always done by the same people who lego obviously gives them to early so they're never negative and the community comments think every set is amazing and a must buy.

Tempy

don't ask me for codes
No :| Nor is Saruman... more sets coming I hope.

The must-have sets are definitely Shelob Attacks (only set with Gollum) and Gandalf Arrives (only set with Gandalf!) they also happen to be the two cheapest sets. Be on the lookout for those.

Maybe they'll do an interior Isengard set where Gandalf and Saruman fight. A Rivendell set with Arwen and Aragorn would be nice too.

True, but like FliXFantatier says, I'm not sure I want 100% accuracy.

How much do I care about the blue wall? Happy to save myself some £££ if I can sub in, say, all these spare gold bricks from a Prince of Persia set to still create a decent building front with minimal outlay.

Key character touches, such as the roof and the white/yellow canopies, I will of course keep.

Also modifying a previous set is good practice for building my own modular!

sure - I'm thinking of doing the same with the Pet shop. Bear in mind the roof is one of the expensive pieces on bricklink - so consider either adjusting the colour, or see if lego online pick-a-brick has them in, they're much cheaper (thats what I did when I bricklinked cafe corner).

Also have a look at the online instructions, they're pretty bad quality so think if you want to shell out for printed instructions. I'm going to try and manage with the pdf

It is kind of ugly, but it is a unique design. But it will reach 10,000 signatures easily because Whedonites fawn and gush over anything having to do with Firefly.

I still don't get how things like this:

Can get so many responses when there are others criminally undersupported.

It's just a bucket of Storm Troopers ffs.

It is Star Wars. It is that simple.

Just like how the Firefly set will get tons of signatures. And how Minecraft got so many.

It seems most of the submissions that have reached 10000 so far have been through piggy backing on an existing IP and their (usually rabid) fanbase. Shit I'm guilty of doing the same myself with my batmobile and the difference in support numbers between it and my original stuff is night and day.
