As far as I can remember it was just a Descent clone.

Thought Emoji Movie was good. Take that as you will.
Used to play very very long games of Imperium, which was a BBS door game. Basically a giant scale war game done with 1 move per day. Took forever to get to the point of making contact with someone else, and the first month of moves were really quick but as the game progressed it was fantastic.

Shark Island

It's a Game & Watch-like game from Bandai, all the fun in this is that it doesn't have any battery, it's 100% solar powered, 100% environment friendly.

I played Dino Dudes on Atari Jaguar. What a shitty game.

Also one game that no one played, Bermuda Syndrome for PC. Flashback/Prince of Persia style game.

Huh, I had that game (and the sequel) on PC, but they were called 'The Humans' - I loved them personally, great Lemmings/Lost Vikings clones.

Never heard of this, but I love Flashback style games, gonna have to try and play this one day.

Played it. I was a priest of Gapp for some time. It was a pretty fun MUD, but doing the quests became something of an open secret. After you complete a quest, you're told not to tell anyone, but they had quest lists online and people would approach you to have them help you do a quest. "Here, let me lock you into this freezer so I can rescue you, then you do the same for me."

I've pointed someone in the direction of Discworld MUD on GAF at least once.

By far the most enjoyable aspect was the player politicking within the Sasswots, the Thiefs and the Wizards' guilds. That and the feeling of exploring the various areas of the disc itself.

Here's one game I've played that I never hear anything about. Though I'm sure someone here has played it.

Castle Adventure

Played it on the first computer my family owned. An old one with some old version of DOS on it that my father got through his job when they were getting rid of them. It took 5.25" floppy disks. I still have the floppy for the game to this day, though I don't have a compatible computer anymore.

Yep! Loved this game, but never completed it. I think the Spider in the maze in the basement/dungeon always got me.

If you run it on a modern PC, the attack seems to be based on your CPU's clock cycles vs. your keyboard input speed or something, because "The SNAKE Struck You!" will display 50 times in a second and you will maybe get in one hit, even if you are fully equipped with helmet, shield, etc. DOSBox is probably the way to go. I think our old compatible PC was around a 4MHz CPU? I'll have to try this one again someday.

My entry is the reason I bought a Saturn and ST-KEY 4MB cart ($50 total!)...purely so I could import THIS:

Lupin the Third: The Sage of [the] Pyramid!

And how is the game? As the above YouTube shows...meh. It's a clunky Tomb Raider knock-off, but it's reasonably fun if you're a fan of the series. The domestically released PS2 game is probably overall a better experience, though.

I played all 3 Descents, actually. All fun games. I also played The Incredible Machine 2, and even ripped the soundtrack to my HDD. Dreams is the best track.

I've played it. My friend owned it, and I remember this was one of his favorite games. It was fun from what I remember.

This was another game my friend owned, it was a rogue-like from what I recall where you had to get to the top of some tower and you could catch monsters and make them fight for you. This always seemed like an obscure game to me.

I played the Saturn version of this, friend of mine owns it (no idea if it still works), used to love playing it, spent many hours on it.
Had completely forgotten about it.

Its the sequel to Drakken, which was a bizarre game to begin with (my brother used to love Drakken, my brother is a strange guy)
Never played Drakken.

This wasn't that weird of a game. A little strange in gameplay mechanics (3d overworld you walked around in, but battles with sidescrolly beat'em up...but RPG).

Oh i just thought about another game i played back in the 90s. Jill of the Jungle! No idea if that was popular or not though.

SubCulture by Criterion (before they started churning out the same stuff over and over again..), a kind of Privateer underwater. Free form game play that was really ambitious and ahead of its time. And the overall atmosphere was great.

I loved this game, only got to play the first one, but would just drool over the demo reel of the second and third ones.

I found it again on this site: Abandonia. I'm not sure if it's a legal site or not, so if someone knows just tell me, I can take it down if it's bad, otherwise this would be a good site to find a lot of the games in this thread.

The Jill games were relatively popular back in the 90s. I have a vague recollection of playing the shareware version of the first game.
I didn't like it all that much, as like the majority of PC platformers at the time, it was completely inferior to the best console platformers.

Indiana Jones & his Desktop Adventures

I had a lot of fun with this little randomly generated puzzle/adventure game back in the day, but more people seem familiar with it's sister title 'Yoda Stories', which also received a port to the GBC. The Indy version was a whole lot better though, great game to pass the time with, as each adventure could be completed in half an hour or so.

You can download and play the game from here; https://sites.google.com/site/indysdesktop/home22

I would say Bioforge. People always mention old Origin games like System Shock and Wing Commander games, but never Bioforge. It was great for its time(1995)! Lots of mysteries in the story and some creepy moments while reading logs, some stealth & action, puzzles, nice 3D back then and scary moments like that monster running after you on that alien base. There was a lot of cool shit for my 11 years old self back then. :p Too bad we never got that sequel.

Every time we started talking about "good old games" at the place where I lived for a few years, my roommate would always bring this game up. One time he actually showed it to us, and well, we didn't really like it. That said, it probably was amazing when it came out.

Nexus, the Kingdom of the Winds

couldn't find a great picture, but.. this was the first MMO that I ever sank serious time into. I still think about it from time to time, it had some really cool features. I also used to love the old sprites but it seems like they've redone them.

Man I can't believe this game got posted on Page 4. I was surprised to see it even on the list! I played a ton of Nexus TK back in the day. I blame it for my MMO addiction :). Nothing has ever quite met the bar for "great community" like Nexus did.

I swear no one else has played this but me, because this game never comes up in the "so bad it's funny" game discussions. Tell me another game where you beat up a drunk man, who may or may not be flirting with you, so that you can steal his Santa Claus suit. Why would you want to steal a Santa suit? So that you can wear it and sneak into the mansion that is inhabited by immortal pirates. They don't mind Santa. If you don't wear it, they will slaughter you.

Avalon Code

Played it, really liked it, minus the pixel hunts. My attention span has kept me from finishing it. I love all the unique RPGs on the DS.

To bring my list up to date, I've played in this thread:
Mr. Mosquito
Incredible Machine (all of them)
Okage
Dark Cloud
and some others that were mentioned by other people already.

Haha yeah it was good for its time, but now its probably terrible. I remember the controls (and the combat sometimes) being not so good even back then. I can't imagine how bad it is right now after all the improvements in 3D controls. He walked like a tank, even more so than the characters in the old RE games.

The story was interesting though, and i liked reading the logs seeing what happened to all the kidnapped people transformed into cyborgs. The voices , graphics, and the CGI was nice for its time, the part with the crazy surgeon operating us from our point of view(the victim) was kinda gruesome for a kid like me. :lol

I have a strange infatuation for weirdness.

This was and still is my favorite PS1 game.

You can download The Silver Case off of the Japanese PSN store.

As for modern games, I have yet to meet anyone else on PSN that has played Noby Noby Boy.

I'd be fairly surprised if someone else on here hadn't played it, but I didn't see it in the thread and I've never seen it mentioned in my years here. It was one of my guilty pleasures. So bad but so good. I never did make it down to the last floor and beat the final boss. I can't even find a video of him/her/it online.

Honorable mention goes to:

rare_games.jpg

Halo 2600 (Pic from the "Rarest game you own" thread). I first heard about the making of this game on gaf, and the online version is well known, but there can't be many who have played the actual cartridge on a 2600.

*Incoming for Dreamcast*

Really fun arcade-type shooter. Pretty simple, but has excellent, tight controls. One of the earlier Dreamcast games. For the longest time I was only aware of the DC version of the first game until Incoming and its sequel showed up on GOG. Now I hear the first game had an expansion pack? I just need to figure out how to map the PC version to a 360 controller.

Fun Fact: Incoming was the first Western developed game released for the Dreamcast—it was out in Japan for almost a year before the system's North American launch.

this is the only version of the game i have ever played, and i love half-life so, so much.

Same. Except I started playing this onPC first, but I just couldn't handle the platforming with a keyboard/mouse.

When this came out, I bought it and it was sooooo good. Even the platforming on Xen haha.

We just had a thread about it 2 days ago lol

Amsterdoom. I played it once, I don't remember it much. I think the devs tried to make Doom set in Amsterdam. :D

Anyone play Hyper Zone? One of my first SNES games. I was great at it back in the day. 20 years later and I suck at it now.

Walked into a Gamestop with a friend a few years back. We were looking for a prank birthday present for another buddy of ours since he always bought us stupid shit like crackers for Christmas. Walked up to the employee and asked him, "Hi, we're looking for the WORST PS2 game you own. Could you help us?" The employee looked startled before grinning like a madman since he obviously had never been asked this question before. We then set on an adventure through their PS2 wall to find the shittiest of the shit ever made.

Unfortunately my friend and I had to play the game with our buddy on his birthday. Worst game ever.
