It sounds good and isn't technically untrue.
Seems a bit out of character, I guess we'll see.

Instead, lazy third parties gave us Wii games like this:
it's a buzzword! And he is talking shit.I don't understand why Reggie would constantly re-iterate that the '1080p box has been ticked' if the system was incapable of running launch titles in that resolution.

That was 1080p? I'd assumed it was 720p, based on the pictures for NSMBM...Even considering the Zelda demo, which was 1080p?
For that matter, their 3DS showings weren't that hot, either. Rayman 3D is a very subpar port of the Dreamcast version. Certainly still playable and fun, but there's no reason for the sound issues, for the odd lighting issues, for botching up the secretAnd they pledged strong support of the Wii, as well. Like that old saying goes: "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, surely the launch fps is going to be great this time. Hype! HYYYYYPE!!!"

I'm sure NSMBWii2 will be 1080p.
I'm sure NSMBWii2 will be 1080p.
still think it'll be limited to the simpler titles, they'll always push for better graphics on games like 3D mario, zelda, etc..I do think Nintendo will try harder to make their games 1080p more than third parties will.
I'm sure NSMBWii2 will be 1080p.
Because as president of NOA Reggie is more interested in boasting about what is possible than being a Debbie Downer and talking to the press about the realities of launch ports not taking advantage of all those possibilities.I don't understand why Reggie would constantly re-iterate that the '1080p box has been ticked' if the system was incapable of running launch titles in that resolution.

He said it to get Geoff Keighley to stop asking him. It's moot since people (and not Nintendo) will just keep making unrealistic demandsBecause as president of NOA Reggie is more interested in boasting about what is possible than being a Debbie Downer and talking to the press about the realities of launch ports not taking advantage of all those possibilities.
Well, the Wii U trademarks should be published for opposition tomorrow in the Official Gazette of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. This brings the name, unless it is met by opposition that is, one step closer to being what the system will actually bear. I'm not sure really if this constitutes as good hype, but with the name established prior to E3 Nintendo at least won't spend several minutes of the media briefing explaining any new name. And that leaves more opportunities for new games to be shown.goddamn when will this misery end?
I cannot wait for this to be over... I know we should set our expectations low but sheeesh this is depressing serious guys. Can't you post some good hype?
At this point i'm pretty much accepting the fact that WiiU games will be 720p/30, with probably less polys than some of the most resourceful PS3 games.
You'd think so, but they seriously used 720p screenshots to represent it - with very noticeable aliasing. I suppose you could argue that it was a tech demo hastily scrapped together from NSMBWii assets to show off at E3 and thus not even remotely optimized, but you could just as easily argue the opposite, really...I'm sure NSMBWii2 will be 1080p.

I can dig your post from pages ago saying the exact same things...At this point i'm pretty much accepting the fact that WiiU games will be 720p/30, with probably less polys than some of the most resourceful PS3 games.
I know most of you are optimistic, but it would just be the perfect pattern compared to their past console. Always a little less than what people expected.
BUT, art will be great and some games will wow us and create some excitement. Maybe it will even seduce some guys who didn't buy a Nintendo console for a while, if some games are badass. But it will totally fail at convincing guys who play on PS360 that they could taste the next gen 1 year early with the WiiU.
I can just see it from there really.
The latter half would not be fact.

I didn't say that.you're sure that's the mario game Nintendo PR was speaking of?
=P
Yeah, this is the clincher, really. I want to see more of this - new Nintendo games using modern shader technology and trickery. It could be very, very glorious if done well.Nintendo games - in HD.

Yeah. The lack of anti-aliasing is most noticable in 2011_SW01_5_scrn05_E3.bmp: http://media.nintendo.com/pressroom/E32011/WiiU/WiiU_Software.zipYou'd think so, but they seriously used 720p screenshots to represent it - with very noticeable aliasing. A jump all the way from GameCube past the 360.
The crazy idea that some of us will need to buy new TVs to catch-up with Nintendo..
YUM!
(does that help any?)
harness that talent and direct it at their most requested IP.
Below is the number of signatures from Europe who are requesting a Mother sequel:

Yeah by that i mean you know, Nintendo is good at making more with less.
Oh yeah Nintendo is good at making more with less. In this case they aren't doing it with less.
I remember when some people would use Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay on Xbox 1 as the goal post for Wii launch games.
Instead, lazy third parties gave us Wii games like this:
We never received any of the Mother games over here.
Awww.. damn. My hope was to point-out that a worst-case scenario isn't bad at all.u low balled my expectations
"While we realize that the Wii U can do 1080p now, if you sit two feet away from the TV and pause at the 35-second mark, you'll see that the rendering of the trees is slightly better on the PS4 version. Thus, because of differences like this, we cannot in good conscience recommend the Wii U version."
It doesn't seem out of the question. There have been 1080p PS360 games for a long time, though they're definitely in the minority. Wii U being more capable, whether it's by 30% or 200%, should have an easier time of it.Conor 419 said:Could they though, do you think?
Well, actually. I guess we don't know yet.
I've come to the conclusion that anticipating E3 affects the passage of time and that if one wanted to live forever they would simply delay E3 one day at a time, slowing the passing of time to a crawl. However, there is the possibility that the potentially deadly side effects of too much hype increases exponentially the longer it takes for E3 to arrive, so I don't know if slowing time wouldn't kill you, anyway.
[/deepthoughts]
Yet plenty of the chums over here have played the games, if anything Mother 4 could be made with only loose story based connections to the prequels. Rename the EU version to 'Starside' or some shit, and off you go!

I love how there is no concessions to your optimism
Anyway if Nintendo delivers more than what i'm waiting for i'll be pleased and impressed!
I didn't say that.
But you'd be a fool to think it doesn't or won't exist.
By all means be massively negative in order to guard against being disappointed. But don't mistake that for realism or mistake informed opinion for optimism.
