Later on Saturday, May 19th...I've decided to go ahead and share with everyone the rumored Retro Studios title in development. Believe me, the last thing I want to do is fill the internet with more hopes and dreams that eventually get crushed and that's why I choose not to put up 90% of the crap I get.

Once in a while however, something is just too cool not to share and has a decent possibility backing it up. Add to that, the fact that the Retro Studios story emulated from Paul Gale Network in April, 2011 and I feel that I at least owe the story that I've uncovered, the "chance" and it being real.

I'm calling it a rumor when I reveal it tomorrow and can't stress that point enough. Still, I'll tell you at NeoGAF now that if true, it's quite freakin' exceptional.

Nice.

Not sure if want. Might be something better saved for E3...

I really hope this isn't Nintendo's only big surprise.

If Retro's game ends up being in the same category as Elder Scrolls and Fallout I will go absolutely crazy. Open World FPA game.

I would rather they go witcher style with amazing looking smaller open environments. Open world games are typically to bland visually for my liking.

A real FPA game though would be a treat. No RPG or shooter focus, but a real adventure game.

Great, but what colors is it?

It's a bit bizarre, but I don't know whether Retro's "everyone" are people who would be on pins and needles about Metroid Dread, or if they'd have no idea what it is/was/would be.

Do they mean the internet, or like... Real people?

What? So you're just guessing then? Or is this more "insider information?" The title is completely misleading, as it makes it seem like you actually know.

I assume this is the same Paul Gale that people don't find credible. Has he been right about anything in the past?

I wouldn't mind either to be honest. I haven't played the witcher, so I'm not too familiar with it's environments. If it's a great game then I wouldn't mind something along those lines.

I just know Retro's next game is not Metroid. Nintendo seems like their burnt out from sales of the last Metroid (Other M) and they will wait a bunch of years to reboot it with a different studio.

Edit: Also Retro seems bored of Metroid and wants to do other things.

That's a shame, because it (Other M) probably didn't sell well because it was a shitty game from what I hear.

The problem has been a steady decline in sales.

Metroid Prime 2 declined in sales from Metroid Prime 1.

Metroid Prime 3 declined in sales from Metroid Prime 2.

Metroid Other M declined in sales from Metroid Prime 3.

The first major area of the game is the best looking forest level i have ever seen in a videogame artistically/visually. Fucking phenomenal. And it was running on my 360. Its what made me not give a shit about specs.

The Sony smash bros clone I think

Interesting. Still, I'll take what he has to say with a grain of salt.

Now you make me want to buy the game. My backlogs pretty big already and I'm doing my second play-through in Fallout New Vegas :(

Did you get confirmation this is what they are cooking now, or at one point were? Nintendo is constantly going through pre production game concepts and ideas that never make it to retail and retro wouldnt be too different.

It would be funny if Paul Gale's rumor sounds fucking amazing, and then E3 comes, and it's something totally different and everyone gets disappointed lol.

I know he calls it a rumor, but a lot of people will probably hope his rumor is true going into E3.

Not for him I don't think. I'm not sure if he's telling the truth, but if he's lying he'd look really, really bad.

Guys, I'm really feeling the love and the hype already. I have jack shit to do until E3, and this thread is going to make that time all the more exciting.

Not to mention Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Manhattan Crisis.

I'm not saying he's lying, but lets at least take the rumor with a grain of salt.

My simple cubic crystal lattice is ready.

I know that feel. I started up Skyrim again half way through my Xenoblade playrthough and feel guilty.

I think they need something which sells very well atleast like donkey kong. A totally new title will be risk and Metroid series cannot make up that much sales. So it must have been something which accelerate the sales of the system and sells well.
Either Zelda or some other title which guarantees them. Though I like to see another metroid title that blow my mind like the way original metroid prime did..

Exactly. I still remember last year, the rumors were all about ED 2 and how the console was simply going to be named "Nintendo."

This is the whole point of a hype train. We get hyped up with rumors and speculation, and then the brakes give out and we fly off the end of an unfinished bridge.

Yeah, a new IP would be what I want but who the fuck is going to buy it besides us Retro admirers???

I bet it's an existing IP.

If Gale says it's Star Fox, no offense but I hate him.

Actually Prime 3 sold better than 2 if I remember correctly.
