Dragon's Dogma |OT| For the night is dark and full of terrors

God's had his chance.
Trying to think outside of my assassin box ... I think a Sorcerer with the right augments to pimp a sword along with a wicked staff would be ... fun? lol .

PS3 for me as well. We should get some sort of GAF spreadsheet going for PSN IDs, XBL IDs, and Pawns (maybe this could be a thread of its own depending on where discussion goes).

Same here. Though I've only played a lot of Unite. I never really got amazing at it though. I started with a bow and then eventually moved on to LS (Long Sword) as my main weapon. I think a good example of how "good" I got was fighting a Narga solo (well, I had my cats with me) and it took me a half hour out of the 50 minutes most time to kill it. That game takes a lot of skill and I never really got deep into it because the PSP's analog nub is not fun. I don't care about that "claw" nonsense. I'm not eff'n up my hand for that. lol.

But, yeah, PS3 version all the way.

I've spent soo much time on Unite, only stopped when my only partner left for the Air Force. I started with Katana with sort of Great Sword. When I got better, I did pretty much the rest evenlly, Hammer was probably my fav. Anyone trying to ad-hoc with me? Lol.. I'll get back into it.

It's too bad this game isnt multiplayer, it'd be soo fun.. doesn't stop me though.

So what version is everyone picking up? I'm leaning toward PS3 since that's where I pick up most non-PC multiplatform games. Well that and I already spent a a lot of time detailing my main girl and pawn.

Though it sucks that I'll have to wait a month for DLC (is that confirmed?) and two months for the RE6 demo.

I'm getting it on 360 due to the controller and the framerate in the demo being a really noticeable difference to me.

And yeah, the DLC is timed exclusive but I'm not sure if they said an amount of time.

okay, played for about 5 - 6 hours now... the game's difficulty is no fucking joke, heh. It's almost unfair at times but with some ingenuity you can beat a lot of fights.

For example, against some ogres I found...
there was a small tunnel inside a larger tunnel that had an ogre, so I was able to duck in there and spam area magic spells while my pawns went to work on the guy.

Also, while on one quest I found...
a fucking chimera like the one in the prologue quest, just walking around like a fucking boss. I was too scared to go fight it lol

Today is the day. My copy is currently out for delivery. Paid for standard shipping and still getting it 3 days early. I'll take it.

Can you confirm whether saves are able to be copied to usb?

Yeah, you guys can say what you want about the Capcom store, but they are kicking everyone's ass this round. I know where I'll be ordering Resident Evil 6 from.

Are all the people who called using pawns "easy mode" still going to go solo after hearing that the difficulty is rather punishing?

The game is designed around having a balanced party of Pawns and I would imagine the difficulty is adjusted accordingly in that regard. But I do think it will be fun to try from time to time, so I can't blame those who want to. Regardless, I think it is safe to say that this is going to be a game to ease into and take your time with. Which means that you will appreciate and actually feel your growth along the way. As it should be.

It had me at "no level scaling." Definitely interested; I like the sounds of a lot of it, especially how it blends party mechanics with it being a "single" hero's quest.

I swear I remember someone in one of the streams mentioning that you could turn down the frequency of the pawn dialogue. Was this ever confirmed?

Best theory right now is the only way to do that is through the "Chair of Knowledege" where you can tell your pawn how to behave (its in the inn), however, I've seen no proof that this particular option actually exists despite repeated cries from others that "but the devs said there was so it totally HAS to be in there!!".

I'm a bit upset about it myself, because even the first video I ever saw of this game the constant Pawn chatter is what turned me off of it right away. I later got re-interested after Matt Lees's video, but first thing I did was go look up if you could turn down how often they could talk. Finding a thread that said devs claimed you could in a stream, I was satisfied and my hype for the game grew.

I feel a bit deceived now though, since there's no such option in the options menu and I've seen no video or screenshot confirming an option to tell your pawn to stop talking so often using the chair. I'm totally getting the game anyway, but characters repeating themselves frequently is a big pet peeve of mine. If I try the chair multiple times and no option comes up to reduce my Pawn's chatter frequency, I'll probably just solo this game or maybe have just my main pawn.

Only reason I'm getting the 360 version is the RE6 demo release schedule. I fucking hate that but it's not like I have any other choice as a massive RE whore.

holy crap! that looks awesome!!!!!

I wonder if it works against Ur Dragon too?

I'm wondering too, but probably not if they don't want high level rich players monopolizing it, I'm not sure how hard it is to get gold, but some people are crazy with farming money in video games lol

The pawn chatter didn't bother me at all when playing the demo. I didn't really notice that much chatter unless you converse with them. Hopefully, I don't notice it either when playing the entire game.

Yeah, I'm one of those people that don't really get too bothered with that kind of thing, I like having party members saying random things than nothing in a dungeon, it's one of the things I wish they would have with single player rpgs with party members like FFXIII. It would be nice if you could adjust their chatter though.

I actually like their stupid chatter in the demo too, one of them tells you they find animal dung under a tree, there are weird shit like that.

I think one problem is the battle chat, they will tell you everything and kill some of the fun, also repeating some of them over and over, but I'll probably be too busy killing shit to notice.

I went and picked up the guide and am sitting here reading through it as I wait for my copy to arrive. Anyone (who does not have the guide) want to guess how many HP that the Ur Dragon has? Just guess.

That's good to hear. I don't like it when games make it impossible to fight enemies if you're not ready. Having a chance as long as you're smart about it is the best way to have it.

Edit:

LOL, nope. It's 1,470,000. No wonder it takes multiple attempts to kill him.

What if we have one of those magic arrows? =p

Just imagine missing a shot with one of those. I'd be so pissed, and I'm a calm guy.

lol I know right? I'd think gold would be hard to come by if there's something as powerful as those arrows. Because if it was easy to buy those things, the game would be a cakewalk. Just stock up on arrows and destroy any major enemy in your way.

I think you can only buy one at a time.

Why aren't there a twitter picture in this thread yet!?!

Good question! Maybe it's not working yet? Though I thought it had both Facebook and Twitter functionality.

Edit:

I threw this together to poke fun at those wanting to solo as assassin. =P

(Nothing wrong with soloing assassin, I just thought it'd be funny.)

I think assassin is a cool class for hybrid, it's going to be one I'll switch to from time to time, but not until much later, I like having companions, I had one the entire game in skyrim

Man I could solo the prologue with ease without using a single herb now, so many days left til the game is out, fuck

The twitter function works, I've seen twitter pics of the game

Demo sold me on the game and I can't believe it's almost here.

Going with 360 version because frame rate is important to me (especially for long game) and I can always turn the output down to 720p if the tearing gets to be too much.

Really appreciate the little touches that have gone into this game, such as the way the size of your character and pawns affects their performance in battle.

Bring it!

lol is that yellow guy from Mother 3? It looks very much like an enemy from the Mother series, but I've only played Earthbound and some of Mother 3. Hadn't seen that guy though.

Anyway, back on topic, I'll def want to try all of them. The whole thing about classes affecting your level growth kinda makes me wonder if I should plan ahead. And yeah now that you say that, I did see a twitter pic earlier. I dunno why people aren't posting more. I know I'm gonna be try'n to set up shots. Maybe create a sort of log of my adventure. Whatever I do that day I'll make a post of it on tumblr or something. I dunno. It's a cool feature though. I wish more games had integrated stuff like this. I loved that plastic kung-fu game on PS3 where you can record your fights and post it directly to Youtube or save it to your PS3's harddrive. They need that in every game.
