[Rumour] German retailer leaks Diablo 3 exclusive for PS3

You know.. I think Diablo 3 on PS3 could be a (small) success.. It's a famous AAA PC franchise and there are a lot of console owners who want to know what all the buzz is about. I can see this selling pretty well in the States and In the UK.
Just my thoughts, could be totally wrong though, you can't predict much this generation, except that the next CoD is going to sell well :p

I really doubt the same company that ported Modern Warfare to Wii would allow the 360 to miss such a major title just because of DRM.

Again, it would have nothing to do with DRM, and everything to do with BNet/auction house. Microsoft would want it to go through Live; Sony will let them us BNet, no questions asked.

but idt its about that. Sony aren't strict as MS when it comes to games like this

MS waived every Live restriction from Portal 2 and Minecraft dlc, you think they would turn down Diablo? To quote Captain Barbosa, "they're more guidelines than rules, really."

I'll ask my question a little more clearly. What do you know about the supposed PS3 version?

I don't have a gaming PC at least not to a level where it would be visually appealing, and run at a suitable framerate.
My original question was, why would anyone double dip? For people who actually have the PC version, there is a very high chance the PC version will look better (especially with the DarkD3 'mod')and the auction house will have a lot more on it as well as more buyers. While the PS3 version will probably support KB+M, having to use a gamepad will make some things in the game impossible, such as kiting quickly and accurately which is a necessity for some classes on Inferno.

It's not just DRM, it's about bnet 2.0.

The only way I'll double dip is if this comes out on the Vita, it wouldn't feel as redundant to me if I can play this on the go.

No they didn't. There is no Steam in the 360 version of Portal 2. Minecraft has more generous update allowances then usual, but still not unlimited.

What if Blizzard's demand was that people should be allowed to connect to Battle.net without paying for Gold? What if Blizzard wanted full cross platform play, including with the PS3? What is Blizzard wanted the Xbox version of the game freely downloadable for owners of the PC version? I can easily see MS balking.

360 owners didn't care then, why would they care now? Cross platform play isn't a selling point for console gamers.

Who cares about the 360 owners?

We're talking about the platform holders here, and their willingness to bend to the needs of a game developer.

Blizzard will mandate BNet. Historically, Microsoft has said 'no' to such demands; Sony did say 'yes' to Valve. That's all I'm saying.

Not to be a negative Nancy, but this couldn't possibly be true, could it?

The source is a "leaked" retail listing with easily photoshopable cover art. I agree, this would be huge for the Vita or PS3, but I'm not exactly holding my breath here. Do we have any other confirmation?

Hah, great. I doubt it's true, but of course it has to happen right after I build a new PC after 10 years.

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Again, is there any source for the Vita news or is this just hope?

I'm sorry, I thought Blizzard was running a business, not trying to make a point to mean old MS. Valve could have easily made Portal 2 PS3 exclusive because of MS saying no to Steam, but I guess they're not in the habit of throwing away tens of millions of dollars because fuck MS.

I played it on my 2 year old Macbook Air. It causes the fans to go nuts but it runs well. Nothing a console couldn't handle. The biggest problem I had with the game is that while I was playing it I wished I was playing something else. I love loot and leveling up, but it just didn't click with me.

Good one. :p

Consider the following two points, if you will:

1) There is no 'Only on PS3', or whatever it says, marker on the art that console exclusives are blazoned with.

2) That retailer has no Vita listing... going by the logic that this retailer is entirely clued up on the situation, that might imply that there would be no such plan. *IF* we go by this logic...

If comparing the two - I'd vager BNet means more to their business then hypothetical retail revenue. Valve had no such business model constraints on Portal.
And frankly MS is the pig-headed one on such issues (business wise) not the publishers.

If Blizzard were clever they could use the same servers including AH servers.

I would double dip, mainly because I would rather play the game with a controller (especially if it plays like Dungeon Siege III), plus if I could use the same character across both platforms that would be awesome.

Granted thats unlikely to happen though :(

Servers already had a hard time not sure if pc gamers are ready for more down time for console folks. I would feel shitty.

I hope this is true cause I didn't like playing a demon hunter with keyboard and mouse. I much prefer a pad for a ranged character.

Don't expect it for atleast another 6 months to a year. That's how much work the game needs.

In fact i'd say it needs a fast turn around expansion like LoD, but i can't see that happening.
