FFXI expansion, "Seekers of Adoulin" Geomancer/Rune Fencer! Uematsu Concert tonight!

If the GAF linkshell is reformed I think I will return to this game, even if I’m a bit under leveled.

The gaf LS still exists, but the only people who currently play who have it are me, seigyoku, aurellius, and sometimes (very rarely) shouta and felix. Everyone else jumped ship to something else.

Question to anyone still playing: what jobs are useful/wanted in endgame content? Last I heard, my main job (Paladin) was pretty useless.

Well, for Abyssea it goes like this. (most useful)

Abyssea

Jobs for Red Proc
Triggering this to obtain key items which can pop NM or gain Atma which are uber buffs in Abyssea.

1. Warrior
2. Ninja

Jobs for Yellow Proc
A proc that allows etc and Seals to drop. Seals are used to +1 your Empyrean Armor (aka AF3)

White Mage triggers Light yellow
Black Mage triggers Dark yellow
Bard (Used as a subjob on BLM) triggers Bard
Ninja (can be subbed on THF for proc) triggers Ninja

Jobs for Blue Proc
Used for armor and weapon drops in Abyssea.

Monk triggers all Blue except Hexa Strike which is White Mage exclusive.

Voidwatch
Voidwatch is essentially spawn NM and go. There are voidwatch markers all over the world, and each one can spawn a certain VNM(Voidwatch Notorious Monster) They are difficult, and are done most of the time with a full alliance (three full parties).

Now you're expecting to have all your moves on the job you pick in this because it triggers procs. These procs help the drop rate, and they also help defeat the monster.
Unlike Abyssea, all procs essentially are the same in this one.

Most useful(or picked) jobs in this are

1. Warrior
2. Bard
3. Corsair
4. White Mage
5. Black Mage
6. Paladin

Other jobs

Dragoon
Dark Knight
Ranger
Blue Mage
Monk
Samurai

If you don't feel like gearing to the max, and spending a lot of time obtaining all the moves, White Mage is the easiest choice. However, there are a lot of White Mages out there so you may get in less parties. (although more parties if you don't have either of these jobs)

Warrior is a nice choice, but a lot of people expect you to have the Empyrean weapon.

Black Mage is solid, but you'll need to buy a lot of expensive spells.

Bard, I'm not sure how difficult that is. Seems like it'd be easy.

Corsair <- do not.

Paladin You were right about Paladin, but that's only for Abyssea. In Voidwatch, a Paladin can single handedly cause certain demise to turn into victory. All the big bad monsters in Voidwatch require a Paladin to tank to some form, but you'll need an Ochain or an Aegis to do this.

Asura is the most active server, but apparently the community isn't so grand. Although, I'm not too certain what the community is like on other servers.

DrForester

Kills Photobucket
Summoner is now great for voidwatch, as it went from one of the hardest jobs to proc with, to hands down the easiest.

I didn't think nearly enough people still played FFXI to warrant a new expansion pack. Geomancer sounds cool though the armor is hideous. Wonder what the other job might be?

I have great memories of this game, hopefully 2.0 fixes 14 up nicely since I plan on trying it.

Leveling in XI has never been easier than it is now. There's no challenge to it anymore.

That's kinda sad in a way. My fondest memories of the game were right after US launch when I had to print out a skillchain chart and everyone was so cooperative and didn't care what gear you had. It was absolutely the best multiplayer coop experience I've had, but the community changed and I lost interest. I want the game to be more open but I dunno if it needed to be easier.

I really loved yelling for a WHM for hours.

Just wanted to point out that the streaming for Vanafest day 2 is coming up in 25 minutes or so. Another Dev talk session is happening in 2 hours so I'll be watching and doing a few quick translations as I listen to it.

Oh snap, I forgot about that. Maybe we'll get the second job!?
Runic Knight please.

Are they gonna do a new Vana'Diel collection or just DD?

Might get it for 360 again if they do the all-in-one.

They've started streaming. Looks like it's going to be the same general flow of events.

Uematsu is going to be performing today too.

Yeah the community stream yesterday was worthwhile, since they had the English version slides for everything that was shown in the dev panel.

There, finally! ...an intermission?
I'm excited about this second job. Even just the silhouette looks cool -- really hoping for Mystic Knight (MYS?) It'd be fun to level a job when it's just been introduced.

Apparently someone who knows what they're talking about has said that the second job starts with an 'r', so I'm thinking Runic Knight. Sort of the same difference though right?

Yeah, the spell graphic did look rune-like.

WHM too busy meleeing to cure. Tab away for a sec and they're all dead.

(Even they don't set their shadows to high ^_^)

People really love this games. It takes you back to a time when Final Fantasy was something more. XIV has hurt the IP so much.

It did but judging from the responses since, there is now genuine excitement about the project. Just pretend version 1.0 doesn't exist.

I'm not sure that XIV did the real damage. The franchise has been gradually losing its touch since FFX IMO, and I think many others feel the same way. If anything, FFXIV 2.0 looks like it might be a big step back in the right direction.

Currently, FFXI definitely does feel like a last bastion of the Final Fantasy 'magic' though. I hope (and I believe) that FFXIV 2.0 will succeed it in this regard.

Hehe, Kumi doing Theme of Love from FF4. Nice call by the MC.

Haha, her last line to the MC right before it cut out was cute, lol.

Here comes the Dev talk.
