Hail, peons, for I have come as ambassador from the great and bountiful Blueberry Butt Explosion
I'm worried that
this energy project is going to end up resolving a plot point in a cheap and unsatisfying manner, in the same vein as the cell phone sonar radar machine at the end of TDK

Dude, it's a comic book movie.

Exactly.

I won't be shocked if we see Bane's backstory, but I doubt it will be tied that closely with Bruce's. It cheapens the real connection, which is that they went down different paths and visions of justice, not that Bruce directly physically hurt him.

Nice LW2 reference too.

heh, ok, no one likes that thought. Good thing Bane has nothing to do with the LOS, right?

Dammit, both of these quotes just gave me a thought about Bane and Bruce's relationship. Spoilering just in case but
What if Bane left LOS just like Bruce did EXCEPT he went in the other extreme direction? As in, Bruce went no-killing, justice, etc. and Bane went full on murderous, overt revolutionary (much futher than LOS operating in the er...shadows.) Deepens the anti-Bruce/anti-Batman imagery.

Burton's Batman films still have the best soundtracks in this franchise. Also for as bad as the Schumacher films were I think they had some pretty decent tracks too.

And its just completely pointless bit of connection. It's like when one of the bad guys in Lethal Weapon 2 is revealed to be the one who killed Riggs' wife in the first movie. 90% of the people reading this and have seen both movies don't even remember that detail, because it's that's fuckin' superfluous. Especially because he also kills Riggs' new love interest, so we already got a reason to want Riggs to kick his ass, why that added detail? Why can't Bane just be this awesome Anti-Batman, he's gotta be there since the beginning and shit. Stupid.

I slightly disagree with the LW2 thing. Everybody has always hated it, but I liked it for the sole reason that the wife murder is the one thing that could take the lid back off Riggs' insanity. Riggs had previously closed that 'being crazy' chapter in his life and Vicky's death being revealed to be a murder allows Riggs to return to being a fucking nutjob. Murtaugh's 'Yeah, I've seen that look in your eyes before' really says it all.

Why can't we be friends...why can't we be friends....why can't we be friends...why can't we be friends.

I'm still pissed Joel Silver completely fucked up any chance of us getting Lethal Weapon 5 a few years ago. A Shane Black penned LW5 at that! That fucking shithead Silver!

Now we got Mel doing bullshit like Edge of Darkness and Gringo instead.

Man, Riggs should have died at the end of LW2. When Murtaugh is running down toward him and Knockin' on Heaven's Door starts creeping into the scene, I remember being scared shitless as a kid.

That's another reason why I wanted Black's LW5. It seemed since the beginning that Riggs' has always been going headlong towards his inevitable death. He was supposed to die in a couple of the sequels, but never did.

With the ending 4 got I don't think that would work out. Seems like a better ending than anything.

Maybe if Shane Black returned for 3 and killed off Riggs.

Word. The Mask of the Phantasm score is fantastic. La La Land Records apparently still has some copies of their great limited/archival edition of the score: http://www.lalalandrecords.com/BatManMOTP.html Grab one of the last copies while you can! I snagged a copy back when they first launched it, as well as the double disc set of music from Batman: The Animated Series. So good.

I got the double disk album from them too. I like the BTS track from Shirley Walker, on the Batman notes, and how adaptable they could be played, to go with the situation on the cartoon.

Love the continuity from batman 1989 to the TAS theme. Not sure which one is better because I've heard the TAS theme so often

These people should be ashamed they're not as good of scholars in Shane Blackology as gentlemen such as yourself.
