Kind of sad to see that Jessica twitter / pics. Feels weird to check it out but in some way also puts a face on the tragedy for something that is so far away from where I live. Her comment along with this picture makes it so weird.

Not sure why people think this guy "snapped".. He was insanely prepared and knew exactly what he was doing, especially if he fired into the air first.

It's obvious. He was completely prepared for this and made the choice too. This wasn't an act of insanity or spur of madness type of deal, he came and had everything thought out and planned and is just a sick person. Also supported that he didn't do the usual and off himself after the crime. He deserves every ounce of punishment he gets.

I really, really hate waking up to news like this. RIP to those victims families. What a horrible situation.

I flip on CNN and not even 3 words are spoken and I hear "Could he have terrorism ties?" Seriously, I fucking hate "journalism" today.

The interview with the girls who were laying down and watched his feet walk past.

"I told her we had to run to the exit and prepare to be shot."

Shit :/

This kind of thing is something I've worried about many times when I've been in a theater watching a movie.

This is horrible :(

Tragedy aside, what is a 6 year old girl doing at a TDKR screening?

Superhero movie. I saw a ton of kids watch the Avengers. Batman may be darker, but it's still a superhero movie.

And judging by the interview, it sounds like she's pretty mature for her age as well. Really glad nothing bad happened to her or the other girl.

Movie theaters were always on the list as a soft target for people that want to kill people. Limited exit points, large amount of people in a small space, and no real cover.

I'm an expert

Formerly worldrevolution. The only reason I am nice to anyone else is to avoid being banned.
Agreed, wrong or not, I have zero interest in seeing this movie right now. Was going to go with two friendss tomorrow...now, I think I'll just stay home. I don't think I'd enjoy it.

Seeing it in an hour.. I can't wait but will def be a bit more alert than I would have been.

Ugh. "This is his moment of glory. He probably holed himself up for the past couple days and played some video games to gear himself up!"

Oh geez, even worse:

"I'm not saying that video games play a part. But it has had links in the past".

Fuck journalism today.

I think that's extreme, but the cast celebrating the movie after this is a little extreme and in poor taste. the outrage would've been palpable if they had carried through with it. it's a smart decision, not dumb.

Update about suspect's apartment:
  • No explosives have so far been found at the suspect's home. Police are still at the apartment in north Aurora.

I'm feeling much the same way, as does my gf. We'll probably still go, but man. This stings. I wouldn't be scared or anything to go, just. The idea of it I guess, seeing the same things knowing that those people saw the exact same things before they were shot.

It's so surreal finding out about tragic news like this in the morning.

You just stumble through the start of your day wondering if you're dreaming and you are going to wake up in a world where it didn't happen.

I'm guessing security will be higher today at theaters. I have tickets at 7:15 tonight, probably going to get there a little earlier.

Truly horrifying and tragic. I feel terrible for friends and family of the victims.

This actually has been an irrational (so I thought) fear of mine before. I've actually imagined what I would do in a situation like this in a movie theater. I don't think I'm going to be able to go to the movies for a while.

Not even thinking of all the people who survived some of them may never want to see the movie at all. It could be pretty painful for loved ones who didnt go to even sit through and watch the whole thing without some kind of emotional breakdown.
