I was excited for this game for a variety of reasons but given everything that has gone on, not least the long time with no real updates at all, i've long since just shelved any excitement
The trademark thing is neither here nor there at this point - i've had the game on "missing pressumed dev hell" for a good year or so. If it turns up? Brilliant, if it slinks out of the arena whilst no one is looking? it's a loss, but already prepared for it.

I've been against this idea forever but ... just release it on PS4.
At best its going to come out in Q3-Q4 2013, so bump up the resolution, add some fancy shaders, stop trying to fit the game on 10 megs of ram or w/e the PS3 has and call it a day.

I was waiting for this title to get a PS3. Sony kept dragging it's feet and news was pretty sparse. I still don't own a PS3 and I don't know if I ever will.
I'm unsure about this game even if they manage to release it. It's just taken way too long. I guess canceling the game is better than releasing a crummy game.

The last guardian is a just a beta name.
Ueda is self employed, and contracted for this game, we don't know he's leaving Sony.

Well yes, but that doesn't mean he's going to work for any other companies. Although I can't imagine Sony want another Team ICO game after this.
If there's backlash and disappointment over The Last Guardian, the scene where Kurt Russel is being hunted by The Thing towards the end of the movie would work.

I honestly thought the reference was much better known. That interview stands out for me, not just because of the silly subconscious sexism, but because it was from the tail end of that period when the game didn't feel so much like vaporware. Ueda talks about the creative process and decision making as if it's a project that's far along in its development! Like it almost has an end in sight, even.
Don't know if they even showed any new footage after that.
