Persona fans: What do you want out of Persona 5?

ok.

how about a robot boy?

Actually, if they're as badass and handsome as a certain sidestory character, bring em on! >_>;

Also, the main character can talk when you choice his/her answers.

I think that one might pretty much be a given. While they may have started out as "Hello, Inseret Name Here", the characters of Persona 3/4 are slowly becoming more unique characters in the story, and are more akin to Tatsuya from Persona 2 now. :p

something new, surprise me. In line with 3 and 4 but with new and older characters, different non-school setting.

I want next persona with 3 + 4 characters set after what happens in Arena to be a separate game with a different name, not P5

First post, etc. I'd love to see a Persona game with older characters. I've wanted it since playing Catherine

Wanna hear a good joke? Waste your time helping me! LOL!
I'm talking both social link scenes and actual cut scenes. I just think a build your character wouldn't fit well for a social link scene and would definitely be difficult to do for cut scenes.

I disagree about the social link scenes being difficult with a customized player character. You could replace a customized character with the MC from 3 or 4 and the scenes would play out the same since the only interaction you have with the scene are text choices.

The cutscenes would be difficult. They would have to have them not feature the MC.

I want male and female character choices with somewhat different stories. It's been so damn long, I demand two games in one.

what if there is a robot and their Persona is a mecha and they climb into it during battle?

No robot anything outside of the weird dream world.

At least with Ted, he was the only real weird thing that could leave the TV. Robots just seem so out of place esp after how P4 seems fairly grounded in reality (I mean, yeah, Mysterious Fox is weird but not completely impossible).

So if it was a robot that was built in the Persona world and gets out somehow then okay.

But I want like.. A Gato style robot. Not some 'oh i look so much like a human but with cool accessories so you won't feel bad about boning me'.

There is a problem with character customization because of all the cutscenes and the cutouts during dialogue and status screens. I want them to add a lot more, and longer anime cutscenes and more high res artwork of the characters.

Basically what I want from P5:

Modern urban setting
Rap music
No scooby doo nonsense like P4
No characters under 15 years old

I trust Atlus to keep the core of the combat system and add fun new things.

- proper cutscenes, like Catherine has is good enough, as long as characters have facial expressions. No more 2D portraits talking please.

- level design, please create unique dungeons with varied scenery and everything not generated.

if they have these two and everything else is as good as 3/4 then we're in for a treat.

I'd like it very much if the game takes place in future and more focus on technology, cyber punk Japanese school / city .

No Sci-Fi at all? I agree in that I wouldn't want a character jumping into a mech, but it seems like almost every SMT title has some sci-fi in it.

Persona 1 and 2? I guess there's the order of the Holy Lance...

I suppose I mean anime sci fi. Weird sci fi is fine.

Oh, I got a realistic one. How about not using voice actors that I've heard in 100 animes before?

Outside of Yosuke, P4 did a decent job of this

Unlockable costume pls

Keep the school setting; I wouldn't mind if they go for a college setting.
Don't make it depressing like P3 was.
No rap.
Keep the turn based combat.
I dunno, I'll let Atlus surprise me.
Honestly, I wouldn't mind more of the same. Persona 4 hit all the right notes for me.
Yeah, I wouldn't mind this at all either.

Yes! And not as stat-changing armour. Grinding for money to buy cool outfits in P3F only to find a basic armour with double the defense......

Er, defense didn't really matter in Persona 3/4 after awhile. The secondary properties of armor became much more important. :p

I'm into the Workplace setting.

Too bad they wouldn't be able to turn it into its own game. Maybe with a different kind of gameplay mechanic but with the whole idea of building social rank and using SMT designs/music

A US release before the end of 2014
I'd say that depends on how the region lock of P4A affected sales.

Persona 3, 4 or 5 which one is best and why? Saw them at the store the other day and was kind of interested.

Do you need to play one to understand the other?

Persona 2 had mecha. Persona 1 had the DEVA System. Science Fiction isn't too far fetched given it's got precedent and given the urban fantasy setting.

See: Mecha in Persona 2 Innocent Sin's original opening. Paratrooping Nazi Mech, even...

I don't know how to explain it. The Order of The Holy Lance never felt silly to me. They fit the game.

Labrys and her weapon/jetpack absolutely DO feel silly, and the Hatsune Miku-esque hair isn't helping.

5 isn't out. But it's probably still better than 4. 3 is the best, but get P3: FES for 10$ on PSN. You don't need to play one to understand the other.

More adult characters, no more dump teenagers, especially after Persona 4. College setting at least.

No more random dungeons, but dungeons a-la Nocturne/DDS with puzzles.

A town that isn't made of 4 screens, it would be neat to have a bunch of area with a day/night cycle and NPCs hanging around (think of Shenmue).

Get Tadashi on boat again for the love of God, P4 last half made me want to punch myself. He wrote EP Extra scenario so he's obviously willing to work with Atlus again.

Use Kaneko for the Persona design please. No more afro-ninja-frog.

I doubt they are going to abandon S. Links since its what made the series popular with the animu crow, but at least make them more interesting and try to spice things up a little. Have them being relevant to the story.

Fix the Battle System, the enemies are barelly a treat at this point with all the bonuses you get and all the ways you have to overpower them.

That is a bit weird, but to be fair, Persona 2 plays up the "Hitler and Nazi suddenly being in Japan" for all the possible tragedy it can. =P

Oh yeah, you're from the EU so you haven't played Persona 4 Arena yet... I think your opinion will change, as I said in the main thread. >.>;

3 if you like listening to MCR and cutting your wrists :3

I had to balance out the other post

High school needs to go. I want college. Rather than the flirtations with adult subject matter that P4 had, I would rather them go all the way with things, something I felt P4's high school trappings were forcing them to back away from.

Aside from that, I'm pretty happy with the game mechanics. More branches and influence within social links would be nice, but I'll take strong writing over anything else ultimately.

School setting would be cool, but instead of the students being the main characters, make us play the teachers! Interoffice politics could play just as well as high school drama.

5 is not out yet :/ I preferred 4 to 3 because I had full party control and I liked the lighter tone of the story better (though 3's was still amazing). If you buy 3, make sure to get Persona 3 FES, adds alot more to the game.

But the mechas
don't exist.
Aigis definitely felt weird IMO, a sentient robot in 1999? Come on... but at they managed to keep her grounded.

Labrys now, that was fucking stupid.

Persona 2. Yes, P3 didn't start with 3! Plot twist!

Don't worry. Gravijah's idea won't come to pass because Super Robot Wars is calling up and asking for their W-series androids back. =p

Mitsuru being the resident Big Good is a pretty likely scenario, and she doesn't even have the usual Mentor Occupational Hazard thanks to the events of Persona 3. :p

Then Atlus shall have someone that continues to buy their mainline persona games.

Some costumes / clothing options would be incredible.

"Do you wish to go outside until evening?"

-Yes
-No, stay in and smoke weed all day.

"Do you wish to go out this evening?"

-Yes, get fucking hammered.
-No

Play as the Personas and you had to go to the real world to solve a crime in the real world.

It's like Monsters Inc but with Jack Frost.

I'll be happy as long as they change it up again. Persona 3 and 4 were way too similar. i don't think they really need to go the random dungeon crawler + social link thing again. Persona 5 can have social links, I just would enjoy it if the game had a different structure again.

Sadly, I know better, and now that Persona has become Atlus's cash cow, I expect them to not stray too heavily from their winning formula.

Pretty sure they said they're reinventing things again for P5, not resting on 3&4's laurels.

I hope Soul Hackers and SMTIV means a return to more occult/serious roots, personally.

Maybe have more than one main character, but in conflict with each other throughout the story.

Multiple stories would be nice. Go the Rashamon/Sonic Adventure route. When watching the Endurance Run, Jeff and Vinny would sometimes joke about "rumour-loving student" and similar characters running parallel investigation teams, and I always thought that would be great.
