Actually thinking about it, im surprised that the JPN box arts for RE6 and DOA5 aren't swapped with the US versions.
Since usually US would have the characters on the box standing there, rather than just the mouth of Kasumi and the logo of the game.

No, your typical FF boxart (in Japan) is just the FF logo on a white background. Hell, that's REALLY colorful for a Japanese FF cover, if they're not blank they usually have Amano artwork on a white background.
I think you may have missed the "not"...
And that's a really colourful box art indeed. Maybe they feel they can't sell Final Fantasy based on brand name alone anymore.
Or maybe they just thought the FF3DS CG intro still looks pretty good so they might as well use it for marketing purposes too:
