And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
What is that? Either I don't remember, or I never did it.
By using the W-Item trick, you'll be able to make infinite amounts of an item, as long as you have two of them. This helps with your economy since you don't have to constantly be buying Greens for your chocobo since you can just dublicate items infinitely :3

Replace Barret with Red and you've got my favorite party.

Do you have to have two of an item in the PC version? Original trick only requires one.

Nope, it was my bad! You only need one of the item. When you're gonna select the item the second time, you can use another item.

Example:

Potion 50
Hyper 1

Use Hyper once, then go to Potion and and keep confirming/canceling it. You'll dublicate the Hypers.

2, which is why I thought it didn't work. I was trying it with 1, like the PSX version

Ah. Well, at least it still works. Does anyone ever actually sit there and steal 99 of an item if they're going for a perfect game?

Edit: I'm getting conflicting answers now! Oh well, it'll probably be awhile before I play this version, I'm still working on my playthrough on PS3. Then its on to IX...

THEO, STOP RUINING MY RACES! Go back to A/S-ranking, and stop trolling in the lower leagues you trolling scrub :(

So I am discussing something troubling on the SE forums. The cloud save overwrites your local save when you start the game. This means that if you use a save editor like Black Chocobo then you will lose your altered save file when you start the game.

Worse, it means that if you play offline and save your game, you will likely lose your save when you sign back in.

So. I'm almost done with VII, and currently playing through III. Which FF should I play next? I'm thinking either VIII or IX, leaning a bit towards IX. Any suggestions, GAF?

Which ones have you actually played before saveweyard?

Go for VIII. It's one of the most different feeling of all the Final Fantasies. It's like they said fuck-it to the standard FF template they have had since FF I-VII and created an entirely game. Playing FF IX right after VII will seem a little bit too familiar IMO. Go for VIII!

Where are the screenshots?
I've posted screenshouts throughout the whole thread and the game. They're in (fake) wide-screen though so the best thing for you would be not to click the thumbnails :p

I paid good money for this Dynex!
VIII is my favorite of the PS1 games, so I'd go with that. In fact, I just played through it again a couple weeks ago. Definitely a polarizing game, but I dig it because of the hilariously abusable (in a good way, though) junction system and the rad setting.

I've played a little bit of I (Origins version).
Played III, IV, VII, X, XII, XIII. And sequels and Tactics games but I'm looking for a main numbered game.
You should play either IX or VIII, depending on what you're in the mood for. IX is very Sakaguchi-style where as VIII is very different overall.

I'll eventually play through all of the ones I haven't played before (hopefully by the end of September before I go back to school). I probably shouldn't have started playing VII again seeing as how I've played it numerous times before. I just had the itch! And was getting bored of playing I and III.

Hmm, maybe I'll buy both VIII and IX on PSN, start both, and see which one catches my interest and play that one first.

If you're gonna do that then you'll end up playing IX because VIII starts off horribly (5 hour long introduction, basically).

Sounds like a damn good idea. Wish I could play both of those for the first time. Lucky bastard!

Haha, sorry! I wish I could go back to playing VII for the first time. I remember playing it as a kid on my bro's PS1 and getting stuck in Midgar (I think I was only like 6 or 7 at the time). I finally made it to the world map, and my jaw just dropped...

Damn Yoshi, yeah I'll try to have great gospel, but I never had the patience to get a gold chocobo, it always seemed almost impossible to me back then. :/

4h30m in, just got out of Midgar. This feels good.

Don't worry, everything seemed to take much longer than you'd think when we were younger :3 It didn't take more than 3 hours this time around~

Are you going after the Master Materia?
Of course!

Next on the agenda: Battle arena to get W-Summon and Omnislash... that'll take me some time so I'm going to take a two hour break and watch fuckin' RAMBO before I start!

Yoshi, your excitement about the game in turn makes me excited about it. I haven't even left Midgar yet, I play games quite slowly, but everything you post makes me want to just blitz it and catch up.

You haven't played 5 and 6?

Go for VI man, is overal the best one. Or try 5 for the best gameplay system in the series

I've played this game so many times, but this is the first time I noticed that you can actually move the camera when you're peeking through the keyholes in Honeybee Inn. Haha, I kinda feel stupid now.

Which version of 5 and 6 should I play? I know I should probably stay away from the PS1 versions, but should I go original or GBA remakes?

GBA, unless you're a stickler for the music, then buy VI on your Virtual Console for Wii.

This, but the PSOne version of FFV is not that bad really, iirc the only real problem with it is that it takes some time to save the game on the memory card ( around 5 to 10 seconds) but everything else is good.

The translation of the gba is better as far as I know.

Just stay away from FFVI on PSOne, long loading times for every single random battle is not fun

Or even loading times for menus outside of battle.
