Blizzard's Community Manager: WE ROLL WHILE YOU B*TCHES HATE (also: fecal matter)

So Brevik is just a proxy for them venting at their fans?

Why not? It's easy to dismiss the rabbling masses in their little filter bubble of self satisfaction, what do they know? Their game sold millions. But when someone who undeniably knows what he's talking about calls you out on the same thing you've been dismissing as unbased, you're immediately backed into a corner and the little charade you've built around yourself starts crashing down.

People need another reason to hate on Blizzard because D3 failed to live up to expectations and the hype Blizzard had manufactured. This was just another opportunity to do that.

It's pretty simple.

So it's our fault a Blizzard CM made an ass of himself? We should just ignore it? What do you want to talk about on here? How cool WoW is?

More like catalyst. They already now that they fucked up with Diablo 3 mayor time on many sides but didn't acknowledged it. Then Dev from old BN says what fans are saying that game has problems and it's different what fans imagined and hit shit the fan with D3 defs meltdown on facebook.

To me it is only idiotic not worth any excuse.

They should said straight to people:

"We are sorry for not delivering product you wanted but i promise we will do everything to fix problems and improve game in future patches adressing all of issues. Please have faith in us because thanks to your feedback we know what to do.

As of David interview. I'm sorry that I reacted this way."

That is all. It would end this whole drama, it would end most of bitching about Diablo 3 people would wait for patches to enjoy D3 without all this stupid drama.

Blizz employees are a bunch of man-childs with daddy issues. They showed their "B-" game to the father of the genre hoping for validation and got a "Son, I am disappoint". Instead of working to fix the fundamental issues of the game, they lash out.

1.04 is a band-aid to the much deeper problems in the core mechanics / design decisions.

To be honest it must really suck to have your life monitored by the world just because you make popular video games.

Facebook is not your life. Like Twitter, it's a public forum. Don't post offensive/childish stuff on the internet under your real name, because it isn't private.

Heads up

Blizzard moderators started deleting threads about this brevik vs wilson stuff:

Page 1:
http://webcache.googleusercontent.c....0.182.1682.3j11.14.0...0.0...1ac.Be1Bv5Co1WQ

Page 2:
http://webcache.googleusercontent.c...0.0.0.108.390.3j1.4.0...0.0...1ac.y79j2Y-QIZI

Not sure why, may be only a coincidence, there are tons of threads

This is standard operating procedure for them though, same thing with the people playing on Linux emulators getting banned. They just don't want their forums clogged up and made useless by it. Not as sinister as it appears.

The main thread about it is even left open, they just delete all the spin-off lttp ones.

Spoken like a true fanboy. Strawmen and hypothetical scenarios. Diablo 3s tail is significantly shorter thanks to the lack-luster launch. A better game at launch with people clamoring for more is what makes them the big bucks. D3 as is, is people just clamoring for simply a complete game.

Back when WoW launched the biggest complaints was not enough servers and no one could buy the game in stores, and it lasted for months. Who is looking forward to D3 patches and expansions now?

You're just projecting. You don't know me, but I can assure you I am being completely dispassionate about this all thing. The fact that Brevik's criticisms are almost verbatim to the ones that some customers are voicing doesn't make that "fuck that loser" directed to those customers. Jay didn't post "fuck those losers! We already have their money." He responded to an specific individual that maybe he feels should excuse himself from criticizing the game considering his past with the franchise and how those comments would be used against the team. This is not fanboyism.

You got all that from "fuck that loser"?

You're really gonna say that the response to the same message from different people isn't him saying it to both of them? How can it not be? He's saying the same thing as a lot of other people, way more politely I might add, about their game and once it finally gets a response it's a little bit blue to everyone. And before you point out the patches, those are just band-aids on the bullet wounds. Game would need a huge re-work to live up to the hype it had.

I don't get also how it matters more that his Diablo 3 was cancelled so he can't talk about the Diablo 3 that got released. Obviously he couldn't get up to the high standards that the newer version so obviously did. To hell with the fact that he was president when Diablo 1 and 2 +expacs were released. =|

Blizzard's servers are melting down.

Big patch for Diablo today, and big Patch for WoW next week. Unrelated.

Am I the only one who feels like this whole incident is just silly, and has been typically blown out of proportion?

Of course you are not the only one, most people probably feel this way. That is not the people that are going to write about it on a message board though.

Is it? Sometimes the page loads, sometimes it doesn't.

Tuesday maintenance, length is variable. Today it's 3AM PST to 1PM PST. During maintenance the login servers are always down and sometimes the forums/websites go down for periods of time. Pretty standard.

If that's not a joke post, scheduled maintenance, like always, every tuesday, for like the past 20 years.

Diablo III and these events from the past week sealed the "Blizzard falling from grace" deal officially.

What a shame.

Honestly the high level talk about the game just goes over my head a bit so you won't read a comment from me about the patches. I am what you may call a casual Diablo player. I played through the game once, had my end-game, and had a great time with it. I didn't knew who Brevik was, didn't knew that Jay was the lead on D3, didn't knew that the original team was planning Diablo 3 as an MMO, I just got interested in this avalanche of vitriol and how a higher up of a company as huge as Blizzard could be so socially unaware of the way the internet works and did some research about these individuals and how they got where they are now. My comments are from someone as dispassionate as it can be.

It's not the fact that Brevik's D3 was cancelled that should inhibit him from talking about the game, is in fact because he is one of the original creators of the franchise and what he says will always be held by some as the Gospel and dogma. He knows that. Jay knows that. Jay frustration manifested in the most reprehensible way. He should address that as quickly as possible and as directly as possible. Maybe even inviting Brevik's to Blizzard or a neutral place to a face to face talk. This is just unnecessary drama.

Most people that bought the game, I guarentee you that the same people bitching about the game now, will at least give new patches and probably even expansions a try to see what they think.

So what if a few developers stood up for their game and made a remark (an indirect one on a facebook no less) towards an ex-employee. Not saying that it was the right way to go about it, certainly not on a publicly visible facebook - but good for them for standing behind their game. The only real mistake they've made is making that post visible to everyone, but I certainly don't think it warrants hate towards Blizzard.

Disproportionate response. The guy whose comments they were "standing up to" was nothing but polite and considered. If they react that way to such minor criticism I'd hate to think what they feel about the rest of the criticisers, many of whom have been significantly more scathing. Apparently with some justification too, otherwise you wouldn't be seeing a patch on the scale of 1.04.

But you are right, their mistake was posting it to the world... as a professional you should know better.

I don't understand how Blizzard employees can be this stupid, especially after yesterdays fiasco. Is there nobody there at Blizz HQ that's reigning in these idiots? Do the staff not understand how it reflects on the company when they share their thoughts on twitter and facebook?

There's clearly some managerial structure and order over there, but I'm at pains to understand how the concept of just shutting the fuck up seems to go completely over their heads. Its not even about what they're saying, its the fact they're showing it to everyone. And those tools that are lining up to 'like' stuff in some misguided display of solidarity are just as stupid.

Anyway. Social media strikes again. Until people learn, they're just going to have to deal with all the laughter, mockery and meetings at 9am.

This whole situation is getting more and more ridiculous. Why are Blizzard so mad at that interview? I mean, did they see the same thing I did? Nobody insulted them, and yet they are getting so butthurt about it. Someone has some issues - sheesh.

Because it hit the nail on the head.

I think I missed something, did Mike Morheime or Rob Pardo or Metzen release some inflammatory statement? I have a feeling this guy does not represent Blizzard as a whole.
