I want to be able to drive from the city to the track, engaging in street racing with realistic traffic as we go.

That sounds awesome. But wouldn't all the current controllers and wheels kind of run out of inputs for turn signals/cruise control etc? And before you say they're unnecessary, I don't think Kaz would agree.

I'm not normally for something like that, but as long as it's a separate mode I'd be fine with it. Truth is, the normal gameplay of GT has gotten so stale that I welcome any kind of change. And really, all I ask for is either a random championship generator or the ability to create my own.

Seems what you want isn't GT, cause that's never going to happen. And thank God for that.

Me? I want it to retain its formula (although A-Spec needs a hell of of a lot of work) but I want something more to tie it all together like an optional trip mode like Dead Man described. I was even missing the silly Coffee Breaks in GT5. The only break from the sort of smug lounge image of the game were the half assed Top Gear events with the Schwimmwagens or whatever they were.

I was half joking about the turn signals, but we already have high beams, wind shield wipers and horns so it's only the next logical step. :)

•Yamauchi wanted to implement a “free roam” gameplay mode in GT5, where players could drive around, respecting speed limits and obeying traffic laws, and even exit the car to walk around and explore the environment on foot.

Never say never.

Hell, all I want at this point are car/track/weather cusomisation that is class leading, and actual races rather than catch the rabbit.

No, I was talking about the "engaging in street racing with realistic traffic as we go." part.

I will laugh so hard when 6 is not what you expect. I know you will still enjoy it, but you seem to feel you haqve some claim over what is correct and what is not for the series. You need to climb down a bit.

And what exactly am I expecting? Surely nothing rediculous as what you just said.

I'm sorry but it's true, and it has nothing to do with what "i feel is correct" (please...), it's just that freaking obvious. Someone saying GT should have street racing WITH traffic simply doesn't know know what GT is and will ever be.

That's like saying rFactor should be more like NFS Underground, and that FIFA should have guns.

Kaz's ambitions seem to go a lot farther than what he's achieved with GT5 judging from the interviews where he talks about making educational stuff using the same platform. The traffic thing isn't that far-fetched in my modest opinion. Maybe it isn't a thing for the ps3 to handle, but who knows what the future will bring.

Again, I said specifically it's the street racing with active traffic that will never happen. It's rediculous absurd, against the law, and something you will never see in GT.

If there is traffic, and there is MP, how do you suggest there is not street racing?

Edit: I'm not saying there will be, but if he has his 'must follow the rules' world added on, people will exceed the speedlimit unless that is prevented by the game.

Well, he did say that he wanted two additional years to finish GT5. There's no telling what PD has come up with since they released it. Or what they had that they just couldn't include because it wasn't working like it needed to.

Surprised that this hasn't been posted

Each year at the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, Kazunori Yamauchi personally selects a car at the show to be awarded the “Gran Turismo Trophy” and included in a future Gran Turismo title.

This year’s winner is a 1954 Ferrari 500 Mondial Pinin Farina Coupe, owned by Jon & Mary Shirley of Medina, Washington. According to UltimateCarPage, it’s one of only two four-cylinder Mondial Coupes which were built to compete in the 1954 Tour de France automobile race, where the unusual blue color was popular for French cars at the time.

So GT5HD?

I'd take less cars for a more engaging SP mode.

I would take half those cars if they were better spread out across time and disciplines. It would be wonderful to have at least a handful of cars from each decade starting with the 30s or so. And some legendary F1 cars of the 60s and 70s and rally cars of the 80s and DTM of the 90s.

The game needs a new career mode, these 3 race events are just boring.

but everyone loves Nissan!

I think one of the big problems is that there are so many cars I will never use because there is no need to.

Give every single car a time challenge with gold/silver/bronze and an online leaderboard.

You could have two for each car - one where everything is unmodified and one tuned. This way I might try a few more cars.

Well some people like to drive cars for the pleasure of it, they have no need to have some kind of event with rewards ..

Yes, and there is nothing wrong with that. It's just that it would be something that is very easy to implement and could add a bit of entertainment. I'm sure there are cars in the game that barely has been used at all by anyone.

If you've got nothing to do you can pick a car you've never driven and try a few laps at a time-challenge. It can also be a nice way to compete with friends on a leaderboard with a few cars that you like/dislike.

I agree but even if they keep the same type of career, if it had proper RACES and not "start from last against brain dead AI" it would be acceptable

Pretty much this. The actual racing is very very lacking and that's down to the lack of options. Give us an option to set ai to expert where we get to qualify and set our grid position and set the amount of laps we want races to be. Basically copy the F1 games in regards to the different levels of AI, race duration, assists available for every race etc.

We just need proper online leaderboards to have infinite replay value with the game, but due to lame reasons that only metalmurphy understands we don't have that feature that was promissed, advertised on the game cover not to mention it was present on Prologue.

..due to lame reasons that only metalmurphy understands..

I also understand them and reasons are not lame but probably very valid.

Too much variables, too much data clusterfuck and too much different options.

I agree how Premium-only/stock tires/SRF disabled leaderboards would be great, but than the backslash from Standard-lovers/tuners/RaceSoft Afficionados/assisters/etc would be unbearable.

This way we have new leaderboards every few weeks (Seasonal Time Trials) and everybody is more-less happy.

Too problematic, I hope GT6 will offer some solution for this under Arcade mode (Simulation mode would be very problematic due to Vehicle Evolution process).

Not a lame reasons.

Leaderboards for every car will only happen if the game provides the car, as it happened in some Seasonals, and you can't really use the one from your garage.

The solution is simple. 2 leaderboards. Stock and modified.

Stock: Stock tires. HP, weight and PP limited. No modifications what so ever. Static weather.

Modified: Anything goes.

I do not see how that is hard.

Option A:

FF/FR/4WD/MR/Open Wheel

Option B:

Leaderboards for car class types like GT300/GT500/Nascar/WRC

Option C:

Two leaderboards for each car, Stock and Tuned

Option D:

The game gives you the car, kind like GT3 Time trials

Option E:

Mantain the leaderboards from Prologue, just add the extra ones for the Premium cars

And the options could go on and on...

I know everyone is going to point at 1000 cars being the problem, but it shouldn't be. There are a number of ways to solve a problem to give us a feature that greatly increases game value. I still can't believe they put the Top Gear test track in it and we can't do power laps to compare cars and drivers online (this doesn't mean they had to include the Stig).

I know i'm not the only one and in fact in years two and three of owning the game i can say that i enjoyed Prologue more than GT5 just because that.

I hope they are listening and taking notes with the seasonal time trials, which are mostly a dash to find the money car of the week so that they can adjust these things and give us some leaderboards on GT6.

Except there's no such thing as stock in GT5 due to engine breakin and oil tricks.

It wouldn't really bother me to be honest. Even if you couldn't get up to the same BHP it'd still be better than no leaderboard.

GT5 clearly has the ability to detect when a car has been modded from it's "stock" setup since that is an option in online lobbies, so the argument of too many options and variables doesn't stick.

There are loads of wacky things in GT5 that make no sense and this seems like it's just another one on the list tbh. Hopefully they sort this sort of stuff out for GT6.

That's part of it, I guess. But I hope that he also means that the single player mode will have that feel. Most racing games don't give you a connection to your driver. They just drop you in a car with a faceless driver to drive against faceless AI while you rack up points until you finally complete the game.

I think that the Grand Tour section of the Special Events is the first steps to doing something that gives you more of a connection to your driver. They need to really expect on that specific event for GT6.

Or they could take a page from Race Driver.

GRID had a really fun career mode. You start small, and as you complete races you make money to improve your ride, gain sponsors, and can expand into other racing leagues. It felt very progressive. It wasn't about MOAR CARZ! It was more about building a competitive racing team.

Or he could be talking about the racing itself, which was also great. The handling was ass, but the AI was super aggressive and reactive, and the races were all about paint swapping and grinding.

Easily my second favorite race game this generation.
